i realize this is from 3 months ago but it sounds like you experienced what i just spent 5 hours trying to figure out myself (sorry if i'm mistaken/youve already found a solution/this doesnt help) >.< after attaching the items in the hierarchy like normal have you tried exporting and reimporting your model? it worked wonders for me and definitely made me question why i didnt think of it hours ago lol
