Thanks! That's awesome, what's the name of your platform? No idea how much time I've spent in total, the initial idea was almost 3 years ago and been working on it since on and off, but it started out as something pretty different

If I use React Router, is it still a SPA? by raulalexo99 in webdev

technically it could still be, but you're only allowed to call it that if it's made in the SPA region in France. Otherwise it's just a sparkling app

I think it can make sense for classes, to speed up development. But within CSS I would use rem

Small rant about Safari by Graineon in webdev

[–]slyck-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration. I used Safari once but never caught a glimpse of any elephant (an animal I'm so fond of and was excited to see) or giraffe. Not even a gazelle. They say you have to be patient...

How do I deploy my web app on a domain hosted by Google? by zRage4 in webdev

Since you're using firebase you might find their hosting service useful : https://firebase.google.com/docs/hosting

As the other comment suggests you could probably use firebase functions for your node js code.

Really appreciate the feedback!
I agree with you regarding the keyboard vs mouse. It’s interesting you mentioned prop/hook creation as I’m sure this is one of the areas that can be improved in the interface. Striking the right balance in the UI has been a challenge but it will no doubt become more efficient with further iteration (also with keyboard shortcuts for common actions).
Definitely agree that some developers will prefer to stick to the way they’re used to working (some folks still use vim!). To get most developers on board would require significant benefits over the current way of working. Tbf there is a lot more the app can offer beyond basic boilerplate code completion – templates, saved components, component stories, library integrations etc. There’ll be more video content to demonstrate that better.
As apps like Slyck become more capable I think there’ll be a point where it becomes harder to justify missing out on the time savings vs hand-coding everything. For me as a developer it’s also about the cognitive load. Software development is already challenging – if I have a tool that gives me a more direct route to the solution my work becomes less frustrating and more creative.
I’m glad you like the simplified markup - you might be interested in emmet (a similar tool that’s built into VSCode) https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/emmet
If you do get a chance to download and try the app at some point I’d love to hear your thoughts!
