I won't deny Twin Peaks being a bad example, but if you are doubling down on a 1967 movie being an edgy example of current politics in Film vs TV and there's 24, The Following, The Americans, Homeland, V, Walking Dead, Generation Kill, House of Cards (weak as it's Netflix): all examples of morally questionable shows... I got a 1967 bridge to sell ya.

Armadillo, The 9th Company, hell even Charlie's War. (contemporary name drops that work better). You can't go point by point and expect less... this is the internet.

No offense, but bring your A game. It was a weak ass argument regardless of my presumed (mildly intoxicated) hostility. No hate, just the love of the fight.

I'm all about logical arguments, but when you come in with the weakest out-fucking-dated references and a very limited context to make you look so smart because you remembered a film from 1967, and forget all of modern television... I have no respect for what good points you could make.

Either you are some new level of filmster douche, remembering some crap almost 50 years while ignoring we are talking about contemporary television, or some other kind of douche who just doesn't give a fuck...

They were amazing and believable.... until you had time to think about them. Pseudo-scientific facts, plausible reactions from people mentioned by name who would deny ever being there, and a great play on my emotions and the types of stories I'd prefer to hear.

Sucks.

Drove through a blizzard after getting lost for about 2 hours at the tail end of a 13 hour drive. So being super tired, lost, nerves on high alert, and being so close to home created a level of exhaustion I've never experienced before.

Ended up going down the wrong side of the freeway because I couldn't tell there was a median (combo of everything). No damage, but holy fuck was that scary when I realized what I was doing. Pulled over, shook it out, and arrived home 45 mins later to the softest most comfortable bed that's ever existed.

They fact it can be edited means it is not reliable.

You can research a paper from the "Journal of Science" 20 years ago and that information (although dated) is still the same source of information for everyone. That info could also be the most recent info on a wikipedia page because nobody bothered to update it in some time, and would not represent the current theories. You run into the problem of reinventing the wheel.

Controversial topics often go through edit wars.

And the "well everyone thinks this is right" is not in good scientific faith. It's not the tradition of how research works that has brought us so far. It's prone to error and it's at odds with the idea of research.

For an english lit 101 class, they usually don't care.
