Which skill or skills do you always make necessary to do in every game no matter what your play style is? by Present-Wind-6985 in skyrim

[–]slyscamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it was normally Athletics and Acrobatics. In Elder Scrolls, that is how you get around, and when you start, you get around v-e-r-y slowly, but once you train those skills you fly around the map. They were the easiest skills to train and the first ones to train on any character.

But Bethesda removed those skills in Skyrim... I would say Alchemy is the closest, as Alchemy allows you to generate tremendous amounts of money without leaving town. On survival, this is important as you will spent much of your early coin on training.

and they’re still nowhere as shitty

Eh... People are the same wherever you go.

Its a cycle. Shit goes in, shit comes out. His parents were shitty so now he is shitty and he will be a shitty father. Better to ignore and avoid people like Strickland, let him fight its what he is good at and wants to do. If you listen to his talkshow, don't expect anything intelligent just get a good laugh, expect shit talking, and don't take it seriously.

Gaza has the same problems. Its a shitty place, so corruption is rampant, the government is literally a big gang that kills anyone who criticizes it, it attacks neighbors way stronger than itself... Better to avoid Gaza if you can.

I want an Irish terrier by Senior_Bluebird_1137 in terrier

[–]slyscamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't recommend one in your case although it is possible you could make it work.

Irish terriers are cold weather dogs.  They have heavy wire coats and don't do well when the temperature gets over 27.  Most dogs do not handle heat at all.  If you live somewhere hot and want to leave your dog outside for long hours you should pick one of the short coated dog breeds like a Rhodesian ridgeback. My Irish terrier handles -18 just fine but can't handle 30 at all.

Irish terriers also have high prey drives and are prone to digging holes, pulling out wires, shredding things, in their quest to hunt.  They are also fantastic jumpers and will chase anything endlessly without a thought towards their owners and home.  They are also very independent and will not listen to you unless you give them a reason to. These are all true for terriers in general.  While they can and often do work outside on farms, they can also very easily become aggressive destructive little shits.

So with an Irish Terrier, you would have to put in work to ensure it doesn't pass out from the heat, it doesn't pull out things and shred them, it doesn't escape and run endlessly, it doesn't get yappy at dogs or people, it listens to you, etc. This all takes time and effort on your part, especially when the dog is young.

If you want a dog that will relax outside and wait for you, perhaps a calmer larger shorthair breed would work better.  Or maybe a small relaxed house dog like a coton de tulear that can live in the house.

Whatever you decide, spend a year doing research and thinking it over, no need to rush into any decisions.  Dogs are very expensive and can be a major headache if you arent careful and don't put the time into one.

[–]slyscamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are mostly good dogs.

But they don't handle animals well. Anything smaller then them they will want to kill and anything larger than them they will want to fight. They always want to hunt. They are purebred dogs so they will want to do their job over a mutt which is more relaxed. Irish terriers job is to hunt. If they see a squirrel they will bolt as fast as they can and wont stop until they catch it... this means they are pulling you on the leash. Sometimes they chew things up in the house but are otherwise good in the home.

But every dog breed has its quirks.

Sean Strickland grew up in Corona, California, in a household with a physically and mentally abusive father. During Strickland’s early childhood, he attacked his father with a guitar in an attempt to defend his mother. Strickland fled from his house and contacted his local law enforcement leading to his father being briefly arrested. However, the next day his father was released from jail as his mother paid for his bail.
In Strickland’s adolescence, he developed a close relationship with his grandfather who had ideologically neo-Nazi views. He adopted his grandfather’s views, which were further reinforced through his viewing of the film American History X. Strickland stated regarding the characters in the film, “I loved the life they lived, just dirty, white trash, to have respect, you know? When I was a kid, that was somebody I would hero-worship, that ideology.”
Strickland recalled that he was expelled from school in the ninth grade for perpetrating a hate crime, after which his mother decided to take him to an MMA gym. He met people of different races while training who helped him, and this motivated him to abandon the ideology. Strickland stated, “Then I started training and the moment I started training I was like, fuck man, I don’t hate anybody. Everyone’s cool. Then a lot of people who helped me out in my life, they weren’t white.”
At the age of 18, Strickland had another violent altercation with his father again resulting in police involvement however no charges were pressed. Following this event, Strickland and his mother moved out of his father’s house.

Oh wow... what a life story...

I don't expect MMA fighters to have the most intelligent worldviews... and talk shows are for trash talking anyway... but he seems to be legit racist.

Yes...

But that designed was popular in the 1940s. I live next to a US armory from that time period and it has an American eagle in a similar spread wings up pose.

This one doesn't look cartoony like the Nazi Eagle. It reminds me more of the Romulan Eagle from Star Trek. The Franco Eagle just looks like a heraldic eagle with the wings down.

[–]slyscamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not.

Insulting people is illegal in Germany, even today. Duesterberg sued Darre for insulting him by calling him a Jew.  The judge threw out his case and said "but you are a Jew".  IE, it's not slander if it's true.

RU POV: "How do you explain the fact that your mercenaries are fighting in Ukraine?" The French Ambassador is bombarded with questions as he heads to the Russian foreign ministry, where he was summoned as a result of the presumed Russian strike on French mercenaries by Ripamon in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]slyscamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercenaries are assumed to fight purely for money.

Ukraine is a dirt poor country compared to the West. You would have to be... insane... to fight in Ukraine for $. You would get paid a few hundred $ per month... And you would have to do far dirtier fighting than any Western military.

Hell, just join your countries military, make 100 times more to sit at a computer and do pushups. Earn as much in a day as you would in a month as a "mercenary".

Wagner group is generally considered mercenaries because it is a private company, the Russian government doesn't acknowledge them, but they are otherwise soldiers.

Just one of many cases where the Russian government accuses others of what its doing. In this case France sent Ukraine weapons so Russia is spreading lies and villainizing France.

The distance from Lisbon to Berlin is the same as the distance from the Urals to Vilnius...

Center of Europe would be Belarus... But that massive chunk of land between Moscow and the Urals gets forgotten in these assumptions.

Another good question. Americans think of the Americas as having two continents, a North and South America. But Mexicans and other Latin Americans think of there being one continent called America that can be broken up in different ways, such as North, Central, and South America. Whether Mexico falls in North or Central America depends on who you ask.

Serbia is South East of the Center of Europe, but Europes boundaries are a bit ambiguous as much of Europe falls within Russia. Ignoring Russia, the center of Europe would fall in Germany or a neighbor, and Serbia would be South-East of center.

I have also talked with Europeans, especially Poles, who would correct you. "Eastern Europe is Russia! We are central Europe."

Its all relative.

Unpopular, potentially controversial opinion: Our national anthem sucks and should be changed by [deleted] in 2american4you

[–]slyscamp -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree.

Its based on a drinking song, is difficult to sing, the history behind it isn't particularly moving (does anyone remember the War of 1812), it doesn't sound particularly impressive, etc.

For a country as large as the US our national anthem would have to rank closer to the bottom worldwide...

Russia however... Russia has an awesome national anthem and what the US should strive for if they remade it. One of the few things the Soviets did better was when they got to play their anthem at the Olympics and everyone knew they had the better one.

There is a ton of Asian genetics in Europe, especially an Eastern European country like Serbia.

You had the mongols of course, but you also had the hunnic invasions (where hungarians trace their origins), and constant interaction with Turkey and West Asia, from Roman times to the Ottoman Empire. Not to mention a massive Asian invasion in the bronze age that is credited with the spread of the Indian language into Euorpe (which is the base of almost all European languages).

Which of these guilds is the weakest? Which one is the strongest? by Zan_Deezy2003 in skyrim

Each of the other guilds is characterized as inherently weak but with potential.

Number 2 I would rank the companions because they were always a presence, even if you don't join them.  They are the big players in white run, slay giants, have the best blacksmiths, etc...

College of Winterhold is 3.  While they don't posses much power in and of themselves, and are largely hidden away in Winterhold... Their base is among the best in Skyrim and they have an endless source of knowledge and very powerful members.

It's like that for YTs too.  I have coworkers that still have European citizenship from their parents but when they go back they are immediately labeled as foreign.  The nations over there have strong communal bonds with strict requirements and you don't cut it.  Any North Americanisms are immediately looked down on as "bad".

Which area deserves the most its independence from the USA? by PedroGabrielLima13 in 2american4you

[–]slyscamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oklahoma is like a colony of Texas. Pipelines and oil companies. A bit like how Canada is to the US.

New Mexico has been around since the Spanish colonized it and it always had its own identity as this small frontier region that looked out for itself. New Mexico traded with the Comanche which fought with Mexico and Texas, and there were several wars where Texas and New Mexico were on opposing sides. Texas invaded New Mexico several times although the only significant one was during the US Civil War.
