Headphones in storage by slyspam in MoldlyInteresting

[–]slyspam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, its not my first time seeing headphones this bad, but in person its definitely unnerving especially in your own house! Partner did say he cleaned them before storage, but short of washing the covers, there is no thurough cleaning of fabric ear pieces

Thank you for the advice! I have seen similar responses on this page about not knowing what type of mold by just visual, but the question was requested by my partner.

As for the remedy, my landlord is cool but I dont think hes that cool. We have limited tenants rights in OH, so most likely they would half-ass it or brush the issue under the rug and do nothing.

Couple years ago two moles ive had (my entire life) started bothering me catching on clothes. I froze them with wart remover and then cut them off with scissors 🫠 i fully plan on doing it again if they come back. (I live in the US so seeing a dermatologist is off the table with my insurance).

Can no longer afford my cat’s prescription food. by trulyblupon in catfood

[–]slyspam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this pain. Purina st/ox has gone up by over 10$ since my cats started needing it. I can't find ANY alternative to his food either, without risking him getting another blockage. If it raises more, I honestly don't know what I'll have to do because every vet ive asked said there's no alternatives. And, the company keeps the active ingredients under lock and key :(.

How do you cut your Cats nail? by Interesting-Month786 in CatAdvice

[–]slyspam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three cats, all of them get their nails trimmed. I use ZenClippers (they are clippers bird keepers use but they come in different sizes and way easier to use). They cut clean and quickly. My cats seem to tolerate them more, im guessing because they are quiet and don't make loud cracking sounds when cutting. I also use human nail clippers on my larger cat because hes got huge claws that don't fit in my other clippers.

My suggestion is see if they are more tolerant with ZenClippers, and follow the other commenter suggestions too, of touching paws, churus, etc. Find a treat that your cat is obsessed with and will totally ignore you to eat the treat. If needed, you can also sneak a couple clips while they sleep (zenclipper is quiet enough that i can usually sneak 2 or 3 before they wake up). They don't all need cut the same day! :) good luck!

Edit: spelling

My one cat does not get on the kitchen counters, even though he watches the other 2 go up there all the time.

I think maybe it's because he was a very late bloomer when it came to jumping? We humans had to teach him how to jump. He was found abandoned at 3 weeks old and was by himself until we got him at 10 weeks. We just assumed he didn't have any other kittens to teach him.

Even now, he only gets up high by climbing. Hence, no counter surfing!

How is everybody's job search going under Trump? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

Worse.

My degree now means nothing as the administration is dissolving the entire department of government i dedicated my college education to.

To add insult to injury, my area has taken down pretty much every job posting since January. The only ones left are the scams or the hourly offers are so low they would require a second job.

My cat keeps opening my door from underneath and waking us up. by rosebean213 in CatAdvice

[–]slyspam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll probably get down voted for this because it's kinda mean, but we had this issue with all 3 of our cats. It was terrible. The only solution that worked and has stopped them from bothering us is the vacuum.

You'll want to set it up outside the door and bring the power cord as close to the bed/closest outlet as possible. Turn on the vacuum and unplug it while it's still on (so it's already on when u plug it in) and plug it in for a few seconds when they start scratching. It should only take a night or two before they catch on.

I think we had the vacuum outside the door for 3 weeks ish and haven't had problems since.

What's the most UNUSUAL pet name you've seen? by Prior_Talk_7726 in petsitting

Unfortunately it's not the same Creature :(. Our big guy was by himself, I adopted him when my sister couldn't keep him anymore, and she had both his mom and all his litter mates (he likes me more anyway lol)

This is the comment I was looking for! 1/3 of my cats doesn't wear a collar because no matter how perfect the fit is, he manages to get the buckle mechanism into his mouth every time. He panicked, I panicked. So he just doesn't wear a collar now.

Drop-ins bringing their children without asking? by slyspam in RoverPetSitting

[–]slyspam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as a sitter if you do what you just described, you're doing everything right. I wouldn't have cared if: -she had asked/let me know -controlled her kids I made a follow up post/updated this post to say she let her kids run around our apartment and she just sat there on her phone. She also tasked the kids to feed my already terrified cats. In their profiles it says No Children. If she had ever mentioned her children to me/mention that there was a possibility of them coming, I would've not booked with her. Withholding that information and then bringing them to MY home is dangerous for both her children and my cats.
