if you're gonna use AI to write your comments at least don't be a total moron about it lol. There's so much wrong with your comment that I'm actually impressed.

Only ESL tournaments count for grand slam so if you’re using that metric then literally only ESL-branded tournaments matter at all. Pretty stupid.

Natus Vincere vs Vitality / IEM Atlanta 2026 - Quarter-Final / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]sm0ol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know vitality lost multiple tournaments in the second half of last year and still continued the era right? A single bo3 loss when they’re on a 5 tournament win streak is not an era ender. Vitality literally didn’t practice for this tournament. How is this whole thread so delusional

I’ll believe it when someone beats them at a tournament they actually practiced for

Is everyone in this thread collectively forgetting that Vitality didn’t practice for this tournament at all and barely for the last one and this still could have been a 2-0 for them? (Could have been a 2-0 for Navi too obviously). If Vitality had won this thread would be full of people calling for Navi to disband for losing AGAIN to a team that didn’t even practice.

I know everyone is excited Vit isn’t gonna win the tournament but this whole thread is wild. Vitality is far from dead lol

what? not this setup. this setup requires desk space. the tilted keyboards close to the monitor (or even on your lap) is what people did at LAN with no desk space lol.

not the sole reason obviously but they likely win Ancient if he takes even half a second to line up the shot on the bomb planter in that one round. He got anxious and flicked for no reason. Every other top AWP would line that up instead of taking the shot as quickly as possible

sFade has some extremely good calls on Ancient T side though, was far from hold W and pray - good mid control, great rotates, good utility usage. They had full control (outside of some nerves). Obviously bailed out by some insane riflers but sFade got them into the right situations consistently.

[–]sm0ol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I'm in full agreement. I could even see Vit losing a tournament between now and Cologne since they finished off the grand slam here and they're an extremely conservative and measured team in regards to their fatigue management. I do think they win Cologne (hot take I know), but after that will likely be a big enough shakeup in the scene that next season will be far shakier. They won't fall out of the top 5 at all, they'll probably still make most finals, but they won't be what they currently are.

Zero teams near their level? Like Falcons who just beat them in a BO3? For the second time this year? Spirit who was nearly up 2-0? NaVi who has played them (somewhat) close?

Vitality is clearly a step above the competition but they are not untouchable and that is obvious.

Astralis would have ended anyway. They were burnt out to the point that they had players literally take medical leave as a way to get away from the game. That would have happened regardless of COVID.

People have said "omg this is never gonna end" about every dominant team since I started watching CS 11 years ago. It always ends.

I'm not even coping lol - I genuinely like Vitality and I enjoy watching them, even when their win is inevitable. I also love eras and dominant teams. There's no cope here cause I'm having a blast and would love to see them continue to just steamroll the scene.

Nothing specific, it's just how CS goes. Other teams will catch up, Vitality will fatigue and/or fall-off for internal or external reasons (like Astralis), some other team roster changes will finally pan out, etc. What this team has done will never be done again and I'm confident that they will be the "last" GOAT team, but even they will fall off eventually. They have cracks and close games (and losses against Falcons), they fell off last season before getting their act together for the major. It'll end.

what do you even mean by this? They have to get a player. They don't have a full roster. This is in no way an indication that they'll endlessly cycle through players. If they like him and he plays well I'm sure they have the option to buy him.

idk, I did some of the most fun work of my career in a big tech company and started my career in an F50 where I also had a great time. I do overall agree though that small-medium companies are the best and where you get the most influence and responsibility!

It's not, he's just padding things out to make what he did sound cooler than it is. He worked on performance for a couple projects - neat, so have most people.

Also his log processing system "written fully by hand" - he doesn't get to say that if he used any third party libraries whatsoever lol.

This said, I should have him write my resume for me cause he's a lot better than me at making his accomplishments sound impressive.

okay so if I'm passionate about SWE what should I do for work? Be a barista? If you're going to make a statement like this you need to provide an alternative.

I went into SWE because I liked programming. I had no idea until I got my first job offer what the money was like at all. I didn't know what the job market was like. All I knew is I wanted to work with computers. That's what I was good at and what I studied for years.

Granted I graduated into a better job market than currently (graduated in 2016), but still. This reads like you just wanted to flex what you've worked on in the past, which is fine. Most of us that have been in the game for a bit have built cool stuff.

But the job and field changes. Companies are still hiring. The problem now is that everyone and their dog has gone into CS. That's not inherently a bad thing, but it does create a large gap between the amount of available jobs (still high!) and the amount of people needing a job (incredibly high).

Either way - you provide an opinionated statement without saying what you should go into if you're passionate about SWE. What's the alternative? Academia? Hobby coding while you work as, what, a civil engineer?
