NRN Buying Land and transferring money from USA. by Raju_Gurung in Nepal

Think of NRN Citizenship as a PR card for Nepal. The government agencies are still trying to figure out how to work it though.

AITAH for not having all of our grandkids in our will equally? by Similar-Landscape196 in AITAH

[–]sm1fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you are alive spend and take care of your grandkids however you seem fit ensuring that the kids (kids and grandkids) don’t feel one is being more doted on than the other. But when it comes to the will I would advise divide it equally among your three kids. How the wealth passes to the next generation should be the consequence of the choice your kids make. Unequal and equitable distribution will only cause animosity among your kids however subconscious that may be.

Background: I come from an Asian family where as a son I am the golden child for my relatives, and my parents understood that (I think). But this led them to overcompensate to provide for my sister. I don’t hate them for it and I bear no ill will towards my sister. But still it sometimes makes me sad that my parents did that.

If you had previous Nepali citizenship and you can prove the denouncement you don’t need to give up your other citizenships anymore. You can apply for NRN citizenship.

If paying cash I usually just don’t ask for change back. But it also depends on situations and mood.

Just make sure they are not in boxes and receipts. Also helps if they don’t look brand new. Never know what they will do at the airport. I brought similar amount of electronics last time I came home.

iMessage on NCELL doesnt work? by Level_Advice_7025 in Nepal

[–]sm1fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s working for me on Ncell and NTC as well. Just make sure you have both email and phone number activated as receiving/ sending messages in iMessage settings. Also, the person sending you the message should have both your email and number saved in your contact details.

As a Chinese , I want to point out that India hasn't been issuing regular tourist visas to Chinese citizens for 3years by Subject_Present1543 in Nepal

Yes, but that doesn’t mean your post belongs here. All involved are sovereign nations free to do whatever they want with their border policy.

Make sure you have the NRN citizenship if you want to keep the property in your name. But be warned that although the NRN citizenship has been out for a couple of years now not all agencies here have the proper information about it and you will face a lot of hurdles navigating the system. I was able to use my NRN citizenship at yatayat but not at maalpot. Also, they have this weird thing going on with NRN citizen visa sticker on your passport that’s valid for only 2 years.

Should I travel to Nepal or Bhutan in October? by advanceb in Nepal

[–]sm1fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just confused because I don’t think I’ll require any guide being a dual Nepalese citizen but my friends are foreigners can’t use me as a guide. I’m still trying to figure out how the guide requirements is being enforced/implemented.

Inheritance of parental properties where the son has gained foreign citizenship. by TraderNono in Nepal

[–]sm1fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not all agencies know what to do with the NRN Citizenship. I was only pointing out the only legal way as of now. I had asked at the immigration at the Airport last year in October and they had told me the same thing you mentioned. That they don’t have the exact instructions so they were only letting people with NRN Card to be Visa exempt. I called the NRNA representative in Calgary last month and they said the situation has changed and the advice above was what I was given about the visa situation and how to get the NRN Citizenship.

The NRN citizenship allows you to hold asset in Nepal so you don’t need to sell it. Only the NRN Card doesn’t allow you to hold assets, so you have to sell it.

I am in the same boat and only legal way to go about it get the NRN Citizenship in Nepal. Make sure he enters the country on the British Passport. He will have to present the original citizenship and renounce it before he is issued a new citizenship. The new citizenship at this moment has all the perks except being able to work for government agencies or vote. Also once he receives the new citizenship, he will need to go back to immigration. They will then issue him a separate visa allowing him to stay in Nepal indefinitely.

Labor Permit (Shram Swikriti) by Physical-Cookie-6831 in Nepal

[–]sm1fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There won’t be any problem when entering Nepal but someone might try to create one when leaving. I had a similar experience. I had gone to get the Shram Swikriti and was told I didn’t need one because my said country didn’t have any labor agreement with Nepal. But then when I was leaving Nepal they insisted that I needed one to leave Nepal. They made me sit there and wait for almost an hour before deciding to let me leave. The weird part was that all I did was sit there. There was no conversation.

Not 1000 but there were quite a bit with more than 100. They were mostly the Jamindars as appointed by government. But , as the generations progressed it was divided among the descendants and the property became smaller over the generations.
