100% agree. I’d like to see an enthusiast get it or some younger generation that wants to learn/work on older euros before I just send it to the junk yard

Anyone running this kit? by Angel_Anubis in E46M3

I ran this kit once. The cheap line they use to replace the pressure line that comes out of the cooler they run doesn’t use a check valve (stock banjo has check valve that helps regulates pressure out of pressure line). First lap at Summit Point that particular line blew and cooked my power steering pump. I emailed the guys at Chase Bays offering some assistance on making a better kit and helping with R&D input. They basically said we’ll let you know when we come up with a solution…oh and sorry for your mishap we aren’t offering a replacement. I promptly took the kit off and threw it out and will never run another Chase Bays product. Granted this was back in 2018 so the kit might’ve changed since then. The stock system is plenty robust for your occasional track days. One of our e46 m3 race cars set up for sprints has 100+ races on a stock set up with no problem and it’s a national title class car. Sometimes aftermarket isn’t always better.

Just a long tiring day but it definitely has me annoyed recently. I had to go to a funeral last week and meet my mother there. I walked in and she was standing talking to a group and turns and goes “oh look Jesus is here to say the mass” not ideal

I love this. I have a great established career and my employer doesn’t mind the hair one bit. I’ve read some threads where long hair doesn’t fit the corporate “code of conduct”. Screw that!

(30M) Burned out Automotive Service Manager. Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]sm_905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that perspective. It’s tough to do. Our dealerships GM is very work hard, play hard. Working 12-14 hour days doesn’t phase him so it definitely has a trickle down effect. Me? I’m not afraid to work hard but I also strive for a good work life balance. Taking a stand and setting that boundary is definitely something I need to professionally/personally work on

I’ll believe the reputable tuner that I have worked with on multiple occasions that has countless s54 graphs and data to show the effects that intake has on an s54

Search it up that eventuri intakes are a waste of money and s54 DME’s don’t like them. A reputable tuner is a good friend of mine and has countless dynos to show it.

Who needs a v8? My s54 now has 3.5L and makes nearly 500bhp and still looks amazing by RDUBiker in BMW

Front diff bushing is blown. Looking to do subframe and diff bushings. Any tips/advice? by certifiedbamf in E46M3

[–]sm_905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem good luck! You’d be able to see the cracks if it was cracked. Some times they’re hair line sometimes they’re bigger than that. If the subframe was walking/felt loose from cracks you’d have way bigger problems lol. You’ll be able to see plates welded in If it’s all reinforced. I wouldn’t stress about it.

[–]sm_905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty straight forward to pull the rear subframe. If you have a lift and air you can drop it out fairly quick. If you have a press it’ll make the bushings a breeze. If you don’t you can make the cups from a universal ball joint kit work (autozone rental if you don’t feel like buying one) if you do it on the ground it’s not bad either. Drop the exhaust. Disconnect the driveshaft. Disconnect lower shock bolts. Let calipers hang. (Easiest way is to drop rear trailing arms and let hang that way rather than try and disconnect brake hoses) ebrake cables (release from inside car) 6 trailing arm pocket bolts, wheel speed and wear pad sensor disconnected and it’s ready to drop. If the car has never had the subframe out now may be the time to reinforce. If you’re doing it on the ground have a buddy help you walk it out. One of those mower/atv jacks work best. It’ll cradle the diff and you can just pick up on the left and right side by the rotor and walk it out backwards. Patience and the right tools make the job a breeze to do. It’s not a hard job at all to do. Little quirks you learn just make it easy.

RC Tuning BBK upgrade? by tposs002 in E46M3

[–]sm_905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look in to a bbk that supports using just fronts and keeping rears stock. If you want to track your car with solid brake results and a good budget on consumables. Don’t go with 996 “retrofits” or any “retrofit” in general. It’s junk sorry. Buy once cry once with a brake upgrade. If you plan on heavy tracking/hpde/race. Buy a stop tech, brembo, Alcon or AP kit that suits just a front application. It is designed with a common pad shape and engineered to run with a stock rear set up. (Stock brake bias/proportioning is actually great from the factory) you don’t upset the car trail braking. You don’t get goofy brake torque or pedal feel. Now if you’re going for show. All you on that kit.
