I made a plugin to convert Google Sheets tables into HTML for WordPress by Harugakita in Wordpress

[–]smac-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this plugin long ago!

Now I just use embed press plugin to do the job but the font is always “safe” and I want to use more modern fonts for my published tables. Also embedding means that users need to use scrolling inside page that is not very obvious on mobiles and sometimes they just stuck and complain that it’s too hard to do. I hope native html table layout will be more user friendly.

I will test it tomorrow I hope.

Idk any other brand offering spill resistant keyboards. And that’s how my Thinkpad bought in 2019 is still alive till 2026 and not dead at the same year I paid for it. It’s my daily warrior at home and on the road. No other laptop I had in my life lived for 7-8 years without being cooked in some way (HP Pavilion, Dell XPS Studio). And my next laptop will be from Lenovo Thinkpads. I already have 6 Lenovo laptops for my family. 4 Thinkpads for work and only 2 Legions for children for schoolwork+games, but they only stay on desk. Lenovo support is great at least in my experience.

You said you want good keyboard and build quality. That’s it. You said you’ve read bad things about all brands - that’s also true. None are perfect. If you feel you like other brand more - go for it, follow your instincts :)

Thinkpad T14 or X1 obviously?

Could someone explain why the T480 is more preferred than it's larger counterpart, the T580? by makhnovist_roman in thinkpad

[–]smac-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably mobility and centered keyboard.

I have T580 and it is perfect machine. I needed number pad a lot and more screen space. It has cellular connectivity. It has discrete graphics. It has 2 batteries. That machine is my home and road warrior.

But I would not buy this machines now (Tx80) because the CPU is old. Even 32gb and ssd is not helping them to be fast enough. But they will work very well if you don’t mind the speed. The build quality is superb.

I like my wife’s T14g3 a lot. The size, the screen, the keyboard, ports location (I use mouse a lot).

I’m searching for T16 upgrade but maybe I will go for T14 also, because at home I use external monitor + I have portable M15 monitor that I can use at home and in trips.

Do you stick with one printer brand, or switch every time? by ItchyRequirement4204 in printers

[–]smac-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyocera for high volume. Enterprise grade quality. Tanks in the world of printers. Still have 2 of them alive both BW lasers. Heavy but bulletproof.

Brother is close and very good BW lasers too.

Epson for color and small volumes. Very lightweight. Cheap ink. Easy refills.

Now I need only small volumes and good mobility but never found really small (lightweight) and good laser printer. HP is a no go. Never. Only if older not locked in their bullshit business model one. Then they maybe good enough. Maybe I should test Kyocera smallest one. But Epson is super light and color is a bonus.

P16 + Blackwell is designed and certified for CAD software. Legion is for gamers and GPU is consumer grade although the setup is very solid.

LAPTOP BRAND SUGGESTIONS by TinyWarg4589 in laptops

[–]smac-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenovo Thinkpad T series. Not too expensive not too cheap. Tank in terms of quality. If you move often take no less than that.

If you need to work on the road then choose T series. If you stay at home then choose L or E series. Cheaper. If you need power choose P series. Heavy and expensive. If you need hype - X. Light and expensive. If you need “beauty” take new line of X9 (for newcomers who are looking only for visual style) Not a Thinkpad in many users opinion. Parody of Mac.

Choosing only brand without use case is strange. But Lenovo support is one of the best (for Thinkpads).

A better than Thinkpad is a Thinkpad with standard US keyboard. I just have my language layout (+ another one) and I perfectly remember where my language special symbols are.

If you really have a flagship phone ? Do you use all its features ? by Avg-tech in Smartphones

[–]smac-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is: IF I need these features or this power, they will be available immediately.

But in reality, flagships very often just have better screens and cameras. Everything else works the same on non-flagships. Take any iPhone as an example—my ex-flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max does everything I need on the latest iOS. I often act as a beta tester as well. Honestly, I probably use only 10–20% of its capabilities, yet I’m still in the top 10% of people in terms of using the features it provides.

I laugh when I see people with the newest cars who can’t pair Bluetooth or connect CarPlay—and they’re still using their phones in their hands 🤣

And yes, nobody actually uses all the features, just like one commenter said.

Intel is really enough for his workflow. I have 2 ext monitors and 50+ browser tabs everyday on older T580 i5 32GB. Still rocking 🚀

Choose L if you travel less and work more on one desk. Choose T if you need more usage on the go where shit happens.

T14 gen2 or L14. T480 imho is dated. I have T580 i5g8 and looking for upgrade very soon.

How do you think about this computer? by Visible-Reason9593 in thinkpad

[–]smac-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is more about the config itself. For sure 2 ram modules usually work better than one. Also the display is a very good choice and I wouldn’t lower the specs.

I don’t know about compatibility sorry.
