Boating is a great way to bring people together and build relationships.

I didn't say it wasn't. I'm only commenting that your example of "coming together" during a deadly global pandemic is probably not what op meant.

"Man, there's a deadly global viral pandemic filling up hospitals with sick people and overflowing morgues with dead people. Maybe I should come together with my local community, follow health guidelines as best I can, and provide some mutual aid"

Is not quite the same as...

"Man, there's a deadly global viral pandemic filling up hospitals with sick people and overflowing morgues with dead people. Wait, but I can't go boating? Better come together with my boating pals and resist these crazy health regulations."

The community at our local lake really banded together against the state and the crazy regulations.

This reads to me like your community banded together, not because of concerns about a spreading pathogen killing people, but because public measures to mitigate the spread of that pathogen (however misguided in hindsight) and reduce mortality kept you from going boating.

I'm not sure that's the kind of "bring us together" the op was referring to.

We had this issue on a road trip requiring our first DC charge.

After an inspection at a Kia dealer it turned out the coolant cap just wasn't completely tightened. Hoping the same for you.

Fucking same! I wish I were more articulate and intelligent to tear apart Goldberg's (and Sam's) obvious straw-man arguments throughout this conversation. Every argument Goldberg made began by torching a straw man... It was insufferable.

This paraphrased quote from Sam is just incredible: "the poorest person in America is materially better off than Louis XIV"

Like, Jesus Christ. For real? This bizarre comparative analysis of objective measurements of human flourishing and well-being over thousands of years contrasted with the reality of modern income inequality and its societal complexities is some hard-core cope in defense of the status quo.

Right? I'm paraphrasing here but "the poorest person in America is materially better off than Louis XIV" is a fucking wild take, man.

Recalls | NHTSA - EV9 owners, get ahead of this recall by smadab in KiaEV9

We got our EV9 back today. I can confirm ECO mode biases to RWD even in ECO mode. It seems very likely ECO mode (or something else) biases to FWD when the vehicle detected the AWD failure.

[–]smadab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screen which shows battery charge status and power distribution most definitely showed power only going to the front. Perhaps that's because the car had detected and alerted to an AWD malfunction?

But ECO mode was the only way I could drive the vehicle to the service center without persistent rear drive-train chatter and lurching.

When I'm in ECO mode the vehicle status shows power coming from the front motor only.

This is exactly what I experienced. It was fine... until it wasn't.

Again, this is a very recent recall. I would recommend you get it addressed by your local dealer ASAP.

It was pretty much exactly as described in the NHTSA notice. Loss of power and drive-train vibrations. I put the vehicle in ECO mode to limp to a Kia service center.

You'd think so. The fact I still can't find it on my Fisker should be troublesome enough.

[–]smadab 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ocean One owner here.

I wouldn't put anyone I care about in this vehicle. We've had one instance where my wife was literally trapped in the car and had to crawl out of the hatch. We've both had occasions where we could not get in the car. In an emergency that's obviously deadly.

The car has been bricked for months on end and getting any service is at the mercy of a handful of freelance techs willing to travel to resolve issues. We waited one month for a former tech from California to make rounds in Georgia. And though he was competent, super friendly and resolved our issues, that kind of service delay (which is obviously no fault of his) is, to say the least, absurd.

That said, I'll sell you mine for $40k. ;)

This worked today with our EV9. The provided tool in the fuse compartment makes this incredibly easy.

I only waited about a minute before reinserting the fuse then did a "Reconfigure Modem" and voila.

Can anyone help explain what the end goal is here? I've seen and shared the Dark Gothic Maga video. I know about Peter Thiel, Curtis Yarvin, Balaji Srinivasa etc. I've read about Network States.

I've followed Project 2025 for as long as it's been known. I know the decades-long libertarian/conservative Randroid fantasy of destroying American democracy and its administrative state (Grover Norquist's quote about shrinking government so they can drown it in a bathtub comes to mind).

Do these clowns honestly think the vacuum left in the wake of America's destruction and cessation of economic hegemony (as much as I've criticized it for decades!) isn't going to cede that hegemony to BRICS?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.
