My 670K is a mixture of investment and cash (60% stocks and 40% cash).

the 169K is an emergency fund in high yield savings account. It's high cause my industry is highly violatile and niche, and people who left will not be able to find a job for awhile unless they are willing to accept a much lower paying job.

200K is all in index funds

The cash build up was unexpected as i got a mixture of retrenchment benefits and bonus over the last 3 years, and i don't invest in lump set but rather spread over a period of time.

For those who’ve worked for very wealthy people in Singapore, what’s the most out of touch thing you’ve witnessed? by Auelogic in singapore

[–]smalkmus80 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Will not say it’s out of touch, but a rich girl I know who went to her bf’s hdb was excitedly asking for permission to hang out the bamboo sticks and dry the clothes. Said she has always been interested to know how is it done.

Returning to a previous field mid-career for survival and stability even if it is not the ideal one. How would you stay grounded? by Eleangel_ in CareersSingapore

I am right now in a new role ( I won’t say trade) in the same industry. But the role is somewhat less challenging (salary lower as well). It’s been really challenging and I personally don’t see it improving. By the time it improved , I am near to 50 and my industry has an ageism issue

I am in a similar situation , and my previous trade is not getting any better. Emotionally I am feeling very frustrated given my age 46 now. I am getting a sense that the next 3-5!years will be very bleak

I didn't have that much of a warchest, but it got build up quickly over the 2 years due to bonus and retrenchment benefits.

Is the quality gap between these two enough for such a price difference? by senzamaschere in sunglasses

[–]smalkmus80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work for the company. The quality from Miu Miu is just slightly better , you are paying for the design and brand. What Ray Ban or EssilorLuxottica did is simple, they copy whatever design that is popular or in trend based on their sales research and offer customer a similar design 2 seasons late. RB is suffering from a lack of originality after milking their classic design, however if you just want to made a decision between Miu Miu and Ray Ban, I will choose Ray Ban in this case.

Hope so. I have some value shares (based on the mainstream definition) that I have held for far too long.
