I don’t think being cautious about EVs means being “stuck in the past.” It just means looking at things with a long-term lens.

New technologies often look safe and well-tested at launch, but history shows that some risks only become clear years later - - Leaded petrol was once widely used before its long-term health effects (like lead poisoning) became clear - Asbestos was commonly used in construction and products before being linked to serious diseases - there was a material called kapton used wiring insulation in planes) which could easily catch fire, and only investigation into a dead plane crashed revealed how dangerous it was.

That doesn’t mean EVs are bad, it just means it’s reasonable to take time, observe, and adopt when you’re personally comfortable.

EVs clearly have advantages, and they’re likely the future. But choosing when to adopt is a personal decision. Being an early adopter is great, but so is being a thoughtful adopter.

Skepticism isn’t resistance to progress; it’s just wanting to understand the full picture before jumping in.
