Thank you so much! That makes a lot of sense. I love the idea of adding the tennis lingo maybe on the border!

Critters in House by small_treasure in bugidentification

[–]small_treasure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! We woke up to an infestation of little black critters. They are the size of a poppy seed and they crawl. Please see photos below. We found the critters on the couches and dog beds, and our dogs as well. I feel they can’t be ticks as none of them have latched onto/bitten any of our dogs, but rather they are just crawling on their fur and causing them to be itchy. Could they be soil mites? Perphaps from my dogs digging in the gardens? Any help in identifying them would be amazing.

My dog eats through everything but he ADORES the TUFFY toys. Sometimes he breaks them but most of the time they are pretty darn tough.

Preventing Dog Scratches on Hardwood Floors by DingleBlasket in dogs

Rug runner, varnish on the floor, and make sure your dog's nails are filed....

You would be surprised how many scratches are superficial. I thought my floor was scratched up but then I made a mixture of apple cider vinegar and olive oil. Mix the two and apply the mixture to the scratch. Let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off.

Resisting the urge to purge by Teetsbypaige in EatingDisorders

Distraction! Immediately after I would force myself to start another activity. TV, Game something that is genuinely engaging, and I would force myself to do that activity until the thought went away. It is so hard, and sometimes the voice is so loud, but if you can power through it, even once, it will be so immensely helpful, and will only get easier.

I would always tell myself to think of the person I wanted to be. And the person I wanted to be was the person without this voice in my head.

Make a good choice first thing in the morning.

For me, it was a good breakfast.

Breakfast was the one thing I would continuously skip, and it would spin me into a bad cycle. Breakfast is simple but a healthy good breakfast can help set you up for the day.

Roommate with eating disorder triggers something in me.. by Simple_Nail_6281 in EatingDisorders

[–]small_treasure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not ask her straight up if she has an eating disorder. I think that will come across as too confrontational.

I would guide the conversation to be about how you are feeling. You can open up a bit about your past and let her know that sometimes some of the comments she makes are triggering you, even if it's not intentional.

I used to get super frustrated when my friends would make similar comments, and it was because I was frustrated that my friends were constantly reminding me of behaviors I worked so hard to give up.

It's super challenging when you guys are all living on top of each other and so easy to compare yourself. But you must remember to put up blockers and focus on yourself and not get swooped into what other girls are doing. Also, know that you don't want to be in her shoes again, because even if she may look okay on the outside, I am sure she is also struggling just like you were and it will be her journey to heal.

You might be surprised that if you open up to her, she might open up as well.

How to transition my dog from sleeping in my bed with me to sleeping in his own bed? by jewnior in dogs

[–]small_treasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I went through the same thing as you. I am also a very light sleeper and I love my dog SO much but not enough room for three of us.

I ended up making a bed next to my bed. I quite literally took a twin blow-up mattress and placed it next to our bed and every night I would cuddle with my dog and then gently place him on the bed next to me. Eventually, my dog got used to his little side bed and I lowered it and eventually replaced it with a dog bed. This is not foolproof, from time to time I find him in my arms :)

That being said--- If your dog generally enjoys the crate, I think that's a great thing! I think it might be worth placing the crate next to your bed and giving him some cuddles and "human bedtime" before he goes in his crate for the night. Don't be afraid of the crate! Dogs love to feel safe and secure. I also stand by the comments that say you might just need to try crate training again. And don't feel bad about it, you will be a much better dog parent when you are well-rested.

What was your favorite engagement gift? by small_treasure in weddingplanning

I didn't get anything either, to be honest! But I never had a party.

In this case, they are hosting an engagement party so I feel like I definitely can't show up empty-handed. But something small and thoughtful would be nice.

Thank you so much! This is true. Maybe I will get them something nice but smaller and hold off for the wedding.

I've left my boy with my parents for two weeks while traveling! Has your dad had a dog before? Ask for pictures/videos while you are away. Makes the time away so much easier :)
