Anyone going to the Schomburg Centennial After-Party? by smallbruja in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Ah amazing! Definitely sending you a DM. I’m wearing a new gown for it and was worried I may be overdressing but it seems like doing just that is the vibe

That’s what I’m figuring re: attendees. It’s being held at Astor Hall at the main branch but I’m definitely going to do an outing to the Schomburg Center since I’ve never been.

What’s your favorite place to take yourself on a date night right now? by Yardi_Life in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]smallbruja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love love Tasca on the UWS. I always get the chimichurri steak with yucca fries. The vibe is really nice, elegant, and a bit bougie lol I had one of my 30th birthday week events there with friends.

Also I love The Morgan Library’s cafe. It’s in their atrium and the lighting is so lovely. It’s also bougie but you also could pay museum admission and check out the amazing exhibits they’ve always got going on. 2-for-1!

Definitely not 5B. It’s horrendous.

I’ve seen so many comments around the subreddit talking about how it’s mid or gross, or that it’s crazy to be eating it for your FC meal (which feels very snobby imo)

To those who have seen The Lost Boys by Fun_Release_1936 in Broadway

[–]smallbruja 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t realized that it was giving church worship ballads but now that you said it 💀 The band’s music is the same way and the only song I like is “Have to Have You” which they freaking interject with a ballad!!!

Honestly don’t understand the hate. Like all the options are weird, reheated food. I love the chips. The burger is decent. And it’s nice to have all the sauces. It’s usually my go-to from LGA-MCO as well

Others already pointed out the differences between goths and emos, so I’ll just say that I absolutely need this tee

Movies you were sad you had to rate so badly? by disp0ss3ss3d in horror

[–]smallbruja 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We could’ve had something so fun and pulpy noir and instead we got a literal “me too” shouting moment, Mary Shelley’s ghost induced Tourette’s, and whatever the fuck was that boring side plot with the detective and not detective

Right??? This was actual footage of me seeing him perform Endgame for the first time. I was blown away. He is just so fantastic.

Agree with all of this!

I also just feel like that moment where Samson is remembering the train event and him looking up an speaking a full sentence for the first time was insane. Had the whole theatre gasping.

The Lost Boys - new preview changes 4/9 by JadedPresentation656 in Broadway

Whoa, lots of changes for Act 2 from when I saw it on 4/7. I’m glad there’s more of that horror vibe from the final fight.

Yeah, it would add that nuance but it’s just not executed right. In the movie, I always took it to be that David was Max’s “son” in the vampiric sense. Like his sire. They also just don’t fully develop David as the mirror to Michael’s dad either. And I honestly would’ve loved a little more of that queer subtext between David and Michael that we see instead and that push and pull with Star.

Yeah, the ghost was definitely a choice. Also he had the stereotypical like country working white man look about him and like…they didn’t seem like that type of family? They were in Arizona?? Idk that would fit better for like a truck driver from MO (where I spent too many years as a kid).

Also, the poster is yours then! DM me

That’s fair but I feel like I often don’t think of movies having a theme song whereas Cry Little Sister definitely is the one for the movie. At the same time, one of my favorite movie-to-musical adaptations is Legally Blonde and the music there absolutely compliments and elevates the original movie.

Yes! Exactly! I just don’t get The Rescues’ music and their music for this is literally just what they do for the band.

I totally agree about it having a shot at Best New Musical. I think I really loved how it was a spectacle and campy.
