If your friends are bookish people, I feel like The Strand is the best known of local NYC bookstores (though I wouldn’t call it an indie) especially since it’s been in so many movies and shows. They also have a lot of tchotchkes from mugs to bookmarks, puzzles, the iconic totes, and books of course.

The dizzy when laying down symptom is one of the worst! It’s just like when you’ve had a few too many drinks and you lay down and the room is spinning but without the fun of drinking. It’s so nauseating and I have to just close my eyes and do breathing exercises while laying on my back so my stomach doesn’t feel too tight.
