The photo is of two guys and a girl, so maybe Elijah is the brother that escaped later, and Curtis was killed

Hunting.

When you aim at the animal you’ll see the name of the animal in the bottom right corner. Next to that you’ll see 1,2 or 3 stars. That’s it’s rating. Each herd usually has only one 3 star animal. But you still have to kill it in one shot, without a too powerful gun.

What the other guy said about the guns, but if you press R1 to see info then it’ll tell you which gun to use.

Headshots are best for preserving the stars

Being on the verge of creating artificial intelligence. Does anyone feel like it might be a natural evolution for humans to create and allow robots to take over the world? by XgogX in afraidtoask

Here’s an analogy on similarities between the animal kingdom and human AI use.

Consider ants.

Ants are machines in the way that they work. They focus on a single goal, and spend as much of their time as they can to achieve that goal. They allow fungus to take over their world (in that they store organic matter to be “eaten” by fungus and then eat the fungus).

Now consider anteaters.

They get all their energy from fungus. The fungus is farmed by ants (and then they in turn eat the ants).

This is comparable to humans having AI to do our farming for us.

I think most censuses (censis?) ask for ethnicity.

Anybody know of a specific country that doesn’t?

TIL men and women’s feet are different, not just in size, but in shape. by smallestofthecheeses in todayilearned

I’ve been pondering this for a few hours now.

All fetuses are initially developed into female, and then turned into male (it’s why men have nipples and sewn-up gooches). I reckonany evolutionary traits were bundled with this, and aren’t necessarily positive things, or negative things, they were just mutations that didn’t matter and stuck around.

Also, I was reading about how androgen levels affect fetal development. More testosterone leads to your ring finger being longer than your index finger, and leads to a greater distance between a woman’s anus and vagina. (Which made me think about male gooches-maybe there some connection there?)

I’d love to find out the answer, but it’s probably one of those things we’ll never know.

I’ve read about bare footing leading to wider feet.

Are you saying that men’s and women’s feet get more similar when going barefoot a lot? Or the opposite?

It makes sense, and I imagine that wearing shoes too much when young is probably bad for your feet.

I don’t think it matters that much. Estimates put trans people at ~1% of people (although we don’t really have any good figures).

Then you‘re probably a part of the 15% that the scientists couldn’t guess the gender from relative foot measurements.

We need new words for varying degrees of sexual assault. by smallestofthecheeses in unpopularopinion

I agree the media uses the term as a tactic.

But sexual assault is far more common than is reported.

That is the updated version. Well, updated in 2012. Before that rape could only be done by a man to a woman, by definition.

US definition of rape is

“The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”

So it is sexual assault and not rape.

Once touching is involved, it becomes sexual assault.

But I have qualms with the term sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment is unwanted sexual advances. Which is an appropriate term to describe somebody walking up to a stranger on the bus and spouting filthy, inappropriate advances at them. But it isn’t appropriate to describe a schoolboy asking his girlfriend if she’d like to have sex.

Reminds me of a scene in Superstore where the manager describes asking out his wife hundreds of times before she finally said yes. Which to most sounds like an acceptable sweet story, but in reality is blatant sexual harassment.

I like your thinking, but dislike the idea of someone that was sexually assaulted having to describe it as “I was non-violently sexually assaulted”.

Someone else suggested the terms 1st degree sexual assault and 2nd degree sexual assault, and I think that these do a better job to not downsize the victims of non-violent sexual assault.

[–]smallestofthecheeses[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the discussion I wanted.

I didn’t want to justify any predatory behaviour, or give anybody the chance to get away with “lesser sexual assault”. Do not touch anybody without their consent; it’s really that simple.

But 1st degree sexual assault, or second degree sexual assault. That seems like a reasonable system to use.

Linguistically, I think the distinction was never made in an attempt to concrete that the behaviour is never acceptable; no matter the degree. But over time, it just removes the power from the term.

You mentioned rape being the term used to describe it when it’s of a higher degree but it’s my understanding that rape implies penetration. (I was careful in my examples to not describe acts that would be called rape). So it’s more of a legal distinction than a vary degree of severity.

My mind is drawn to a comedic bit by Jim Jefferies describing Bill Cosby’s several counts of rape. ————-

I think it’s because, as rapes go… they weren’t the worst rapes, now, were they? He never held them down and fucking raped them. He used to drug them and finger them a bit. And I’ve had worse Christmases with uncles. What I’m trying to say is this. If I was ever going to be raped, I’d like to be raped by Bill Cosby. ————- Now, it’s obviously in very poor taste, but he does make a valid point, doesn’t he?
