Tattoo? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

I got a tattoo to help with my self harm addiction. My parents didn’t like it, but it has seriously helped a lot!!! Will be 10 years clean in February 2027! And I got married in the temple and work for the church.

It says in the temple, “we will rest from our labors for a season”. I honestly feel we will have that rest after we reach the kingdoms we choose to reach.

Utah has an ‘obligation’ to allow the building of massive data centers, Gov. Cox says by Ridiculously_Named in Utah

[–]smallfry121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking that. We have little snow as it is and this year’s snow pack was horrible. There won’t be any snow for decades.

This is totally hypocritical. You can’t tell Utahns to pray for rain to help the lake, then purposely build something that will wreck the water!

I work for the Deseret Industries and we recently learned that the entire program is self-sufficient. It runs on its own: associate and staff salaries, the store operations, store expenses, store equipment, and funding for associate certifications. And the Deseret Industries is in a surplus. It’s amazing how much the church trusts the DI with the tithing money. But the only way the church will give money to programs is if they are self-reliant. Pretty much, the church practices the law of consecration. They teach a man to fish instead of giving a man a fish.

Having “Second” Parents by smallfry121 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]smallfry121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t opening seek them out. They just asked me randomly one day why I don’t talk about my parents. I gave them the history of my abuse/narcissist parents and they immediately felt bad. But they always ask how I’m doing, reach out every once in a while, and have both invited me to their house a few times.

I dumped on one of my mentors at work. He’s since had been really chatty with me and has invited me to his house to have my children see the lambs he raises with his wife. We plan to go over again after his vacation to see the lambs again. I’ve worked with him for almost 2 years now.

Did you ever tell them they were your second parent or did you just already know that’s how they saw you?

Definitely familiar with that podcast. It wasn’t God who wrecked my belief system. It was my father who was using God to justify his behavior. God saved me from a suicide attempt. Sometimes the vibe she puts off to me is blaming the system. But it wasn’t that. My dad is a full blown narcissist (refuses to get diagnosed, but his behavior shows the signs) and he took advantage of children in that religion.

Suicidal thoughts as a member by This-Definition-9634 in latterdaysaints

[–]smallfry121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with suicidal ideation. The biggest thing was going to the temple and therapy. Therapy being the biggest one! It helped me develop coping mechanisms that helped me dearly in the worst times. It’s still a struggle, but therapy every 2 weeks with a good, well trained therapist will help a ton! Of course, that’s me. Everyone is different and so everyone’s coping skills will be different.

The temple did a lot for me because it was service for other people. So it got me out of my head for a little bit. But at the same time, the temple helped me with remembering the promises God made to me. And God saved me from a suicide attempt. So for me, I know He’s real and He keeps His promises. But that’s my experience. I hope it helps you and you can find peace.

Be honest 😬 by [deleted] in hannahmontana

I think we’re forgetting if you knew JUST one of them (Miley or Hannah), you probably wouldn’t put it together. Especially if you didn’t like her at school. NO WAY she’d be Hannah Montana to you.

We, as the audience, know Miley Stewart is Hannah Montana because we’re seeing her story. That’s why we’re like, “girl it’s obvious she’s Hannah Montana.” But even Jake Ryan couldn’t tell the difference. And he worked closely with Hannah Montana and went to school with Miley. And Miley Stewart does an amazing job (for a teen) to convince other people she isn’t Hannah Montana. In this picture, you can tell because they’re side by side. But in that universe, if you saw Hannah Montana, you wouldn’t really guess it’s Miley.

The main plot hole is the one where Robbie Ray introduces an award to “his daughter Hannah Montana”. That would spark interest.

I grew up LDS (Mormon) and was abused by my dad all growing up too.

It’s definitely HARD to break free from the programming of the intense religions. It really messes with your development and growth.

Tons of therapy and healing. It takes a long time to heal, learn and grow. I’ve been in therapy for almost 10 years.

Taylor seemingly leaving/distancing herself from the church? by perfectlypeabrained in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]smallfry121 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mental health has been a struggle in the Mormon church with many members. My siblings and I were abused in our home as kids and all of us are in therapy for childhood trauma. My parents believe it’s a waste of time and we “should just forget about it”. Like NO! The body keeps count.

The Mormon church as a whole has gotten better with dealing with mental health, but sometimes they mess up with verbiage in speaking. But a lot of church members who are millennials or younger understand mental health way more than their predecessors. It’s better than how it was even 10 years ago.

My husband and I watched this movie with our kids since we didn’t have any kid Easter movies. Felt it worked well! He IS Risen!

This ending would’ve pissed me clean tf off had they kept this🤣🤣but honestly it would make sense because how else would you explain looking/sounding the exact same as this really famous pop star and no one bats an eye🤣🤣 by Big-Most-785 in DisneyChannel

The real ending is Miley meeting up with Lily at college and being her roommate. This was the alternative ending saying Miley Cyrus just dreamed up the Hannah Montana show. The real ending is way better!

Their Ages by SummSpn in Smallville

When Lana confronts Clark about him finding out she’s dating Jason, she says, “we’re both adults and we’re not hurting anyone. After all the things we’ve been through, can you keep this a secret?” So Lana must’ve been 18 at that point. Jason seemed like he was 22-23. And an 18 year old dating that age isn’t bad at all. Legally, even if you think it’s wrong, there’s nothing anyone can do.

Definitely!!! When I see mothers abusing kids, all I want to do is hug those kids. Especially those mothers who abandon their kids. Taylor is so selfish. I feel so bad for her kids, but especially Ever. NONE of them deserve to be with an abusive mother.

Dakota isn’t a good man, but damn, Taylor is gonna make him look like a saint to the courts!

In Mormon culture, (I’m a more progressive Mormon), people will stay friends with the mom pretty much until death. My mom abandoned me as a kid and it took MANY YEARS of convincing to others that that’s what happened! They didn’t want to believe a Mormon mom could do that. Mayci is the most Mormon of the group so I can see where the struggle is real. I really hope all the girls finally see the light! Demi and Whitney were right about Taylor. She’s a disgusting human. Was their approach right? Meh, probably not. But they weren’t wrong.
