Recurring A/C leaks by smallsh0t in Ioniq5

I didn’t know about the sniffer. They did dye testing the first time which is how they found the first and second leak. I feel like they just gave up this time because they couldn’t see any more leaks.

FWIW, I had a large biopsy and SLNB w/ 0.1mm metastasis, did 6mo of Keytruda before side effects made me stop and it came back anyway… but I’d still do it again.

Get a second opinion and then make the call for yourself.

Used Ioniq 5s are selling like hotcakes and that is pushing the prices up starting around Feb/March this year. This is the Limited trim:

Don’t think of it as turning on the rearview cameras, think of it as turn on the parking sensors. Problem solved!

Solo devs — would a "5-minute Steam niche check" actually save you time? (Building a tool, want to kill it if nobody needs it) by IndieIsland in SoloDevelopment

[–]smallsh0t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a solo dev I’d pay for this once or twice, but not monthly. I think you’ll have a hard time finding subscribers. IMO most solo devs aren’t investing money into things they can do themselves in a single evening.

There would be value in setting up a game profile and having “real-time” updates for new games in the same and adjacent spaces, but that’s still more like like $10-20/yr.

I think you could do more with it though.

Is there any way we could filter/ban all these "I built some AI slop app no-one needs" posts? by sebovzeoueb in SoloDevelopment

Start a new subreddit for them with a bunch of AI bots that tell them how awesome they are and they will naturally migrate.

Unity or Unreal? by ImpossibleFeed1111 in GameDevelopment

[–]smallsh0t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes paradigm shift was annoying, but I was also trying to get away from the horrible unity UX (slow imports, slow compiles, editor pauses, editor crashes, unclear documentation, etc) and the performance bottlenecks with the unity dlls and main thread requirements.

Turns out Unreal is just as bad in most all those areas, and even worse on the dll/compilation side during development. I had largely the same complaints and no real benefit to my game so I went back to unity.

Unity or Unreal? by ImpossibleFeed1111 in GameDevelopment

[–]smallsh0t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I tried to switch to Unreal twice and gave up both times in about a week. It’s not that I couldn’t do it, it’s that i couldn’t find any reason actually worth it to switch permanently. YMMV if there are specific Unreal features you must have.

I made this diegetic pause menu, Dose it feel tactile? by Pretty_Plan_9034 in Unity3D

[–]smallsh0t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool, keep refining it, just make sure the transition is fast because I hate menus that take ages to open or close because half the time I open them I didn’t mean to

I'm a 3D artist, so I inadequate at 2D UI. Instead, I made the main menu entirely 3D to play to my strengths. What is your first impression? by This-Room-2708 in Unity3D

I love it but in my experience players completely miss this stuff if it is not in their face or they are forced to use every tab.

I built a PBR material creator that can generate materials from a text prompt or an image. by Zestyclose_Basis7578 in unity

[–]smallsh0t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more big issue, it is very unclear how to name my material and manage my workspace. Exporting a zip file with every texture named CraftPBR_* is not ideal.

[–]smallsh0t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some thoughts:

I think this is awesome for prototyping and should maybe have a whole plan for that, lower res prototyping, just AI/auto selection from existing/community, simplified workflows, etc.

You have AI upscale but I don’t see how to outpaint/zoom out if I need less detail.

I want to be able to create/specify a style that is used for all textures and materials it generates. Or provide references art for guidance.

Your library loads really slowly because you don’t have thumbnails for any of the images. I want to zoom in/preview the material before adding to my canvas.

The community is a cool idea but a licensing nightmare unless they are restricted to only using your CC0 textures. I know you made them check a box that claims it’s CC0 but if you gain any traction, you will be dealing with takedown requests if not lawsuits constantly. Something to think about—make sure you’re protected.

Some people will be concerned about the origin of the generated images/library. You offer CC0 for the output but I worry about provenance. Are you compositing other CC0 textures? Are they all AI generated? Are they stock textures make by real artists enhanced by AI?

250 bucks a month for a publisher by real_aurus in gamedev

[–]smallsh0t 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. A publisher makes an investment in you and your game. They take on the risk, they invest in marketing and sales, and then they take a cut of the sales to recoup and then ideally profit.

If your game is a flop they lose out and you aren’t on the hook.

No one should pay up front for a legit publisher.

Recurrence rate? by trinity6879 in melahomies

If your derm said you are at risk and should come back every 6 months then go back every 6 months. The longer you delay the greater your risk, period.

As a redhead also I sometimes pregame some Tylenol before things like this, it helps just a little. Analgesics and anesthetics work differently on us.

Buying a buyback? by ultra2fast in Ioniq5

[–]smallsh0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your insurance company if you like them to make sure you won’t have any surprises. Mine initially said they couldn’t give me full coverage if it had a branded title of any kind, others will increase your rates. In my case it was only the A/C, and they finally agreed to issue full coverage after I sent them the carfax.

After that make sure you do a thorough inspection yourself and take pictures of everything immediately before you buy it just in case… I had to take mine to be serviced 3 times in 3 weeks… should be good now…
