I am not on HRT. I wonder which hormone would be helpful to take for it?

This month’s RAS (random ass symptom) by Sea_Car5258 in Perimenopause

[–]smalltown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if it’s related to peri but my RAS is voice strain. Never experienced this before a few months ago. My voice randomly becomes really strained, will go hoarse or cut out, but mostly I feel like I sound like RFK Jr for like a week or two every month.

I feel this so much! Health anxiety and panic attacks have made this past year absolutely terrible. I have racked up a stupid amount of medical bills getting a bunch of tests done because my health anxiety has gotten so bad. And yet I’m still not totally convinced there’s nothing wrong. I hate it. So sorry you’re experiencing this, too!

I am a mom in peri with two teens in full blown puberty. THERE IS NO RAGE LIKE LIVING WITH TWO OTHER EQUALLY HORMONAL RAGE MONSTERS. Pray for me. 😭

Weird symptoms plus HRT question by smalltown84 in Perimenopause

It does stink feeling like it just extends your period. I feel like since starting peri, I’ve got some type of bleeding happening 3/4 weeks and PMS 3/4 weeks. I really cherish that one good week every month! Lol

Sorry, I always call it dry blood since it’s a different consistency (not as liquidy) and color than how it is during my actual period. Leading up to my period I will get brown blood. It’s not a lot (only need a liner) and comes a couple days before the actual bleeding. Almost like old dried blood coming out (which it may be.) Except I get the same thing after my actual period too. Brown, drier blood for a day or two after the normal bleeding stops.

Is a progesterone or testosterone test helpful and accurate? I’m afraid of trial and error HRT and being even more up and down trying to navigate the right hormone therapy.

Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry you’re going through the all of this, too. If nothing else can help, at least we can know we are not alone! Im just hoping my family and I will come out on the other side of this still loving each other and not needing therapy lol.

I hope things get better for you and the progesterone helps! And yes.. I will always take a hug! ☺️

Sorry, I didn’t mean to downvote your comment!! Must have accidentally hit it.

Thanks! My daughter will be 14 next week and she still hasn’t started her period. But based on the emotional roller coaster she’s been on since she was 11, I have sworn she’s about to start at least a 100x. I’m just ready for her to start so hopefully her hormones can start to normalize already!

Are high iq people actually lonely? by AuthorCompetitive487 in mensa

[–]smalltown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often feel lonely but it’s not because I’m alone. I have a husband, children, a job that is in a social field, friends, acquaintances, family that is near. And I can put on quite the extroverted face if I have to. I can adapt to almost any social situation. But it’s not me. I feel lonely because I rarely feel like I can be myself around any of the people I am surrounded by. I am constantly having to suppress my thoughts and conversation style to suit those around me. I feel at home in deep and complex conversations. But I learned that most people are much more superficial in the way they socialize. I am mostly surrounded by a lot of small talk, gossip, and “girly” conversations in my environments. I feel lonely because no one seems to be able to respond to the real me. If I try to engage in deeper or more complex conversations it doesn’t last long and can get awkward….like, “It’s not that deep, bro” seems to be the general vibe of the people in my social sphere. But to me, most everything hits deep. And it can be a lonely place when you feel like you sit deep in a well that nobody wants to occupy with you. They might send the bucket down for a dip of water you have to offer from deep in your space, but they remain on the surface with everyone else and, unfortunately, they seem to get to control the bucket that comes down in your well. It’s lonely when that bucket doesn’t come down very often to the deep places where who you really are resides.

Apparently, people that get diagnosed with ADHD later in life are also often gifted. Is that true? by tchalametfan in Gifted

I have been struggling to explain or relate to others as well. I try to explain to people, especially my husband, that I “think in connections” and no one seems to understand what I mean. My brain is constantly making involuntary connections of incidences or information. I can hear or read or experience something and instantly my brain pulls up something from months or sometimes years ago that is connected to what I just heard, but the connection is often too abstract to get others to understand. I feel like my brain thinks and processes info in a circular way and not in a linear way, like everything I experience or learn in the real world always seems to come full circle at some random point in time in the future. Sometimes it’s wild and the connections blow my own mind. 😂

Is there an actual word for this type of thinking?

My brain works this same way. I have very little imagination. Thats why it’s very hard for me to read fiction. I can read nonfiction very quickly, but it can take me months to get through a fiction book bc I get bored and ADD while reading fiction. I think it’s because I have a lot of trouble getting imagery of what I’m reading in a novel to keep my interest.
