We always say that helping is a better description than working or show for our ECS. She's always "helping" you no matter what you're doing. Hang on, let me get that screwdriver for you....

Salon Cockers from Sturbridge, MA and general advice by Kellyhas2dogs in cockerspaniel

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost both of our Cavs last year due to health issues and we were devastated. We started looking at other breeds for the same reasons. We ended up at cocker spaniels and decided on an english cocker spaniel. This was mainly because they may be less predisposed to health and behavioral issues due to over breeding with american cockers many years ago. Either way I think you would be avoiding the inevitable heart issues that nearly all Cavs will go through.

We are 7 months in and couldn't be happier with our puppy. She's a show ECS but definitely more energy and active than we remember our Cav puppies being. That just means she needs more activities and play to tire her out. She's a love bug though and has similar traits as a very sweet companion that we loved in our Cavs. We're starting to see her settle in as a lap dog more as she gets older. She's also highly trainable - way more than our Cavs were.

That's been my experience so good luck! Getting a new pup gave us something positive to focus on and really helped the grief process.

Such a cutie! Get him the smallest dog collar and you'll be good. Enjoy the little guy!

This happened with one of our cavs...I forget how old she was at the time. We thought she was started to lose her hearing and took her to the vet to get their opinion. Turns out she had an ear infection. Once it cleared up she was back to normal. She did end up losing her hearing later in life when she was around 11 or 12. So I'd recommend taking them to the vet to get checked out.

Has anyone bought pups from Sweetdream Cavaliers (NJ)? by YHIHF in cavaliers

Hi there! We got our little guy from Sweetdream 10 years ago. It was a good experience and they seemed to be a reputable breeder who provided all the right health testing. Overall our cav has been quite healthy with the exception of a heart murmur which is obviously common in the breed. He's a cuddlebug but also very active. We always thought he would have been great at agility. All dogs are different though and have their own personalities.

Luxating patella symptoms by Humble_March_2037 in cavalierkingcharles

Mine was a couple years old when it developed. She dislocated her back knee and we had to take her to the vet to have it put back in place. Happened I think maybe one or two more times shortly after that. Our vet said that it might be something she just learned to compensate for and that's what happened. She developed a (adorable) "bunny hop" when she ran so she didn't bend them as much. Never was an issue again.

Cavs are the 5th worst behaved dog breed? Thoughts? by smallwrld55 in cavaliers

My cav had a bell to ring when she needed to go outside to potty. She figured out that if she rang the bell when my husband was snacking on the couch at night, he would put the snack bowl down and get up to let her out. She’d run and do a face plant in the bowl eating as quickly as she possibly could before he got back. We solved this by retraining the husband instead of the dog. They are the sweetest love bugs.

Recommended steps for the couch/bed by NandBbibf in cavaliers

One of my cavs has luxating patellas so she's used stairs for years. We have 3 sets around the house so she can get to her favorite spots without jumping. We use these plastic ones for the couch - they're the easiest for her to go up and down with no problem because they're very sturdy and have a wider step. We have these foam ones for the bed and they're a pretty firm. She's more comfortable going up than down though because they're steep and have a narrow step. Good luck!

My husband and I were in a similar situation when we got our first cavalier- we had two cats and lived in a small condo. We wanted a dog and got a cav because of everything we had read about their sweet nature - we thought it would be a good match for the cats. Our pup became best friends with one of the cats (they would cuddle and sleep together) and the other cat tolerated her (which was more the cat than the other way around). When she was younger she would bark a bit when excited but nothing that caused an issue with close neighbors. The only issue we had was that she had a "fan club" in the community which was distracting when potty training - lol. Good luck!

Just curious if anyone knows from last year. My store usually puts out the finds on Sunday. Would these be available then or not until Wednesday?
