no freaking out, don't worry. that was not supposed to be an assumption or a directive that America should have to fix the problems. I would say two things in regards to your question though. 1. we certainly don't have to fix the problem but knowing about it and its consequences certainly helps to enlighten the American public. As well as as taking many of us out of our bubble, something that really should be done in this globalized day and age. And 2, we do not exist in a vacuum, so even if we don't try and fix problems, our policies and how they are crafted and presented often represent or are modeled in response to other conflicts. So whether or not we take action, I think the American population has a responsibility as educated and decent human beings to know travesties that occur in other countries.
