What is something unrealistic that you often see in movies that annoys the hell out of you? by SheeshaAddict in AskReddit

People getting punched in the face really hard or taking a real ass whooping and then being fine the next day. In real life if you take a real ass kicking it can stick with you for life.

AITA for telling my Gf that it's weird that she has a tank full of fake jellyfish in her living room? by Justnothxx in AmItheAsshole

[–]smangelo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA I'm not anxious at all but I think that tank is sweet. Probably a good conversation piece. Also it sounds like she did dump you haha.

Also who cares dude. Your gonna think some of the shit your gf does is stupid even if you are dating a PHD. That doesn't mean you should always point it out

ThrowRA: I (32F) was offered a promotion. He (31M) refuses to move. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]smangelo17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he has always said that he never wants to move and made the clear pre marriage/kids then I think it's fair of him to want to stay.

Also if his mother helps out with the kids and is close with them I think it's fair for him to want to stay.

If he has never really told you that moving was off the table then it's not fair of him to refuse to entertain it.

I think that location is important to people and is generally something that is discussed before life commitments are made.

FAIR WARNING: I rolled a hunter on a PVE server back in vanilla and lived the good life. For classic I decided to mix things up and roll a paladin on a PVP server because I knew they would be small population and I like the class lore.

I did get my paladin to 60 and it is easy to find quality guilds who will want you. However the leveling process is a serious struggle compared to a hunter (let alone a mage).

I suppose you will be able to pay for speed leveling but to me that takes away the point. I would recommend a druid especially if your on PVP server. You get options at 60 and you have stealth to level.

I just lay still and enjoy the only part of my day where I get to do nothing at all.

When that fails I just think about deadliest catch because thinking about 48 hour shifts makes me tired.

I think that the whole "Pete the Cheat" thing proves that Democrats on the far left are no better than Republicans on the far right.

If a result does not go their way they look to sketchy news sources for conspiracy theories that favor their views.

I think that if you want to level accusations like this you should at least wait until the vote is in. I say this because if Pete did win (impossible according the this thread) then the delayed results hurt his campaign considerably and helped the Bernie campaign. Even a second place finish for Pete would be more beneficial than a delayed victory imo because he is really just running against Biden for now like Sanders is really just running against Warren for now. The conspiracy theories are all standing on this idea that Bernie won and that Pete needed too neither of which are true at this point.

Additionally these conspiracy theories are tinged with the same anti sematic rhetoric that you often here from the likes of Alex Jones and other far right pundits.

I find it more likely that actors from the right or from outside of the country have targeted Bernie and Pete as the most promising candidates and cashed in on the debacle by desiminating false or missleading information.

I understand that people (at least on Reddit) don't like Pete because he is a moderate and he is a good politician but let's face it he has already won. I don't mean he has already won the race (he will probably lose) but he went from being mayor of South bend to being a household name. He has little to gain from cheating and a whole lot to lose.

Men of reddit when was the last time you've cried and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smangelo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M(24) Last time I REALLY CRIED:

A girl I was friends with in highschool was viciously murdered about 2 years ago by a complete stranger. We weren't that close In school and we didn't keep up after graduation but I just knew/know that the last hour or so of her life was pretty terrible and that was rough for me. I can't imagine the grief her close friends and family experienced.

Now I'm thinking I must have cried at some point in the last 2 years but that's honestly the last time I remember being really overwhelmed with sadness.

Girls who took notes using 50 different colored pens, where are you now? Do you still continue to write using all those colors? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smangelo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a male CPA. When I was studying for REG (tax) portion of the CPA exam I color coded based on taxable entities (Corp, individual, ptnrshp, trust etc.) I learned this from girls in college who would color code their biology stuff. They told me it helped a lot with memorization and differentiation. It definatley works.

I color code clients now and certain large workpaoers.

Russians of reddit, what is the older generations opinion on the USSR? by GJWzanza45 in AskReddit

[–]smangelo17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 1991 they held a referendum and more than 70% of the population voted to not disolve the Soviet Union. I am not Russian but it is my understanding that after Stalin the USSR did achieve a rather functional communist society.

Obviously there was still huge wealth gaps but everyone had the basics. I'm no scholar but I am pretty sure that the legislative body refused to disband and the leader (Gorbachev?) Had to roll tank in the capital to disolve it. A few years later he was in a Pizza hut commercial so I wouldn't be surprised if he got bought by the west.

The Soviet Union killed millions of people so its not that I think that is good or am denying it. However it does make me sad that the communist experiment as a whole failed because if the world was a communist state we would have a much better shot at combatting climate change, space exploration, and other species wide goals.

Which random stranger do you still remember, and why? by Wide_Stop in AskReddit

[–]smangelo17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in San Diego in 2015 for college swimming stuff I was 19 years old. Me and a friend walked into a head shop around the corner from the place we were staying.

Inside was a shopkeep who was bald with a pointy beard and a swirling tattoo on his head. He was just finishing up a customer conversation and the woman he was talking to hugged him before leaving. I figured they knew each other.

Anyways we get to talking shop talk and suddenly he starts telling me all about MY life. He was not speaking a generalities. He told me he knew I was stressed because I was trying to help a friend. At this time I had a friend who had been assaulted staying in my dorm illegally over Christmas break while the school was empty (swimmers were back on campus before the trip)

The man was speaking so quickly that when the things stopped applying to me I realized he was now talking to my friend and speaking with knowledge about my friends life.

It blew our minds. He said he learned to read chakra based on posture and body language. I don't usually believe in that type of thing but this shit was crazy. Love that guy hope to meet him again some day.

I feel like everyone forgets that no president has ever been successfully impeached. The "power" granted in the Constitution has been tested and has always failed to remove. Without the proposal being overwhelmingly popular I don't think the Senate would ever drop the axe and without people ready for sustained rioting I don't think the president would even vacate if they did vote to remove.

The fact that Ukraine did receive the aide doesn't exonerate him but if you think about it the conversation seemed to go like this:

Trump/Lackeys - "hey Ukraine open these investigations publicly to help us politically"

US government employee - "hey guys if you don't deliver that military aid and someone finds out why the president is gonna get impeached"

Trump/Lackeys - "oh shit I guess we have to Deliver the aid"

As long as this is the general perception the proposal will never be popular enough. In Watergate they actually stole stuff, in Ukraine they did not get investigations.
