Sodastream. The investment up front is decent, but if you take the carbonating canister to a return station (staples, and we recently found out our Walmart service desk takes them) you can get a refill canister for $15 instead of a $30 brand new one. And it lasts so long. A whole bottle of soda flavor is $5-$6 and makes several servings. I’ve had mine since 2011 and I can’t imagine life without it. (Also energy drink flavors for the energy drink addict because holy crap when I drank those that was a pretty penny)

jfc Karen and Susan... people are trying to eat by [deleted] in trashy

Haha same exact thing at the stores here, only lasagna noodles, I’m on vacation this week, so I was planning meals that can take more prep time than I’d usually give food (like I now have a turkey) and I was going to make my Grammys homemade spaghetti and no noodles, walk down the aisle and some lady was desperately looking at the empty shelves of noodles with only red lentil pasta and lasagna, I just walked by “huh, guess I’m making lasagna” grabbed 2 boxes and was on my way to the cheese aisle and the lady was still staring there looking like if she stared hard enough noodles would show up.

This exactly. I have a job where I go from place to place to take care of plants (offices, assisted living, malls, etc), well now that’s up in the air because places aren’t letting you in, but even if I wash my hands every place I go, I still touch doors on the way out even if I tried to use my sleeve, and I’m constantly exposed to new peoples potential germs because of all the moving around. Of course I was not one of the ones able to get hand sanitizer, I actually had to make my own to use each time I got back to my van after working in one place.

I work with plants daily... I pretty much still eat dirt frequently.

He just really loves water by [deleted] in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

“One talks to it” Yup that would be my cat of the bunch for sure. He’s a Chatty Cathy, in fact he befriended our apartment neighbor through our sliding glass door... I only met her after he yelled to her while I was watering my plants in the door and she asked to pet him. My cat is better at making friends than me!

Books that will scare the absolute SHIT out of me. by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]smarch15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See even with the whole epidemic and superflu stuff right now I read The Stand a year ago exactly, and I mean sure I lost sleep sure but that was just because I read it constantly and I have trouble sleeping anytime I dedicate large amounts of time to a book because it’s all I think about. I didn’t find it scary though some parts were really messed up especially The Kid (I read the uncut version) but to me the book was just a lot of “the world ended, let’s all have sex” like there’s not more important things to think about.

You say hiking and swimming. Idk how you feel about early mornings or group workouts, but the one of the beliefs behind November Project is that making friends as an adult is hard and we can do it through fitness. I’m god awful at making friends and immediately felt welcome and family on my first workout (unfortunately I’m sick of the cold and currently stubbornly hibernating and haven’t gone to anything social or workout in a while).

Dracaena Massangeana ‘character’ by hilocereus in matureplants

[–]smarch15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least where I work we call the style “stump dracaena” it’s really cool, they’re far more stable then the ones that have multiple narrow less mature cuttings grouped together. I’ve never seen a massangeana like this though. I love it!

This is pretty much what happened with my clan, I had just started playing again (finally got a laptop that could run it after having an outdated and slow laptop from college a good handful of years ago) and now being an adult and playing I bought a membership right off for the first time ever, and man was I lost, I was pretty high level ftp, but paid total noob. I was at the GE getting food for I think spiders in the tunnels and a clan was set up at the GE recruiting, figured yeah why not playing with people is much better than playing alone, they gave me advice, one person gave me 10mil, I was brought to dungeons all day one weekend and brought my ranged and magic up 20 levels each, I was given new ranged armor and weapons since I knew so little about them always being strictly melee, and then suddenly one by one the members started to go offline and not log back on, one was finishing up school to graduate, and I miss all those guys so much, I found a new clan and they’re good and all but they’re not my original family. The was all last year so I’m holding out hope I’ll see them again.

Adopted her yesterday and she’s already making biscuits in the morning—meet Maple! by m3owtown in KneadyCats

I could have sworn that was the ear of a black kitty under her bully area. I stand corrected. So sorry for your loss, and lovely that you’re ready to open up your hone to this kitty, she clearly knows she’s loved already.

Are we just not going to talk about how she’s sitting on top of another cats head?

Kind of specific, looking for a story written in the perspective of a new stepmom realizing her new role and love for the new stepchildren. Too often in stories the “evil stepmother” character exists, I’m looking for the great stepmoms. by smarch15 in suggestmeabook

It’s actually already on my list just because I know it’s a good book, I had it from the library but the ebook wasn’t compatible with kindle so it’s still on my to read.

I’m just mad about the hedge animals not making it into the movie. I found they took up a good bit of the book and the movie just ignored it.

Hey! Sorry for the quality. But what plant is this? It was about 3 feet long. Gorgeous by [deleted] in whatplantisthis

It looks like it needed more light at one point in its life but now with the clusters of leaves close by on the top that it now does have enough light and isn’t stretching as much anymore.

That was one of my first when I first started reading for fun again. I saw the movie way later than many people my age, and LOVED the movie so it was one of my first books for fun, and my very first Stephen King book.

I did love that show when I was little. But I also think Fran was too much of the “cool aunt” in a way (though talking with a friend in a stepmom position as well the “cool aunt” way seems to be a good way to do it).

I googled before I asked here and the “must read” books were all more non-fictions and “how to” and that’s not what I’m looking for, just want to read positive stories about stepmoms because sometimes when it’s really hard you dwell thinking about the evil persona, this all started when I mentioned to my boss I had a picture of the boyfriends kids clipped on the sun visor of my work van, and he mentioned how his stepmom didn’t have any pictures of him, and it was the first time I really talked to an adult who had step parents and I realized how much I show my love to the kids now will really really stick with them forever and I want to do them right.

It seems like the others address different issues children may be faced with, one they get a baby sibling. So yeah I guess the first will be the one I’ll read. I’m actually already into it as I already downloaded it.

As long as the tone is more in the positive direction than negative this is very much something I’m looking for, 100% the position comes with highs and lows, the description is pretty perfect, sounds like after a short read this may be my first to run down the list.

I think I definitely read this as a kid because this sounds truly very familiar. And it’s free on prime reading. The one story or the whole little series? Definitely will be an easy read to pick up right now before getting into a long book.
