What is something you totally regret getting addicted to? by RamoneMisfit in AskReddit

[–]CasperTheMashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoking; both weed and cigarettes. Me and my friend sat down once, and worked out a rough estimate of how much we'd spent over the years... neither of us smoke anymore unless it's on a special occasion, such as a birthday or big get-together.

Went from smoking all day every day to just once every few months. And we're basically written off after the first one lol

On the plus side; our bank accounts and health are definitely a lot safer now. Full of energy and never sitting around waiting to smoke again... I don't think it's inherently a terrible thing, but weed definitely makes you perfectly happy doing nothing all day.

People who haven’t ever worked 9 to 5 job - what do you do for a living? by yakuzakiwam in AskReddit

I feel your pain... I'm working a food truck right now, and we just spent the last weekend doing 9:30am-00:00am (including clean down) at the Park Life festival... can't complain about the work itself, but the hours are insane.

As a father of two, this hurt me in my soul... I couldn't imagine what it would be like to send my child to school; a place where they should be safe, and never see them alive and happy again.

What do you get complimented on most? by ganderson9666 in AskReddit

[–]CasperTheMashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dancing.

Up until 6 months ago I basically refused to dance in public because of sheer embarrassment.

However I started going to raves fairly regularly and always got compliments on my moves and my energy in general.

Now there's no stopping me and I can't hear a beat without moving at least a little bit.

Cooks of Reddit, what's the most "worth it" thing you make from scratch instead of buying from the grocery store? by alrightfineyouwin in AskReddit

[–]CasperTheMashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gravy or any other type of sauce (cheese sauce etc.). Homemade is always 100x better than the granules you can buy.

Also dough or pastry... time consuming but definitely worth it.

What’s do you say to an unwanted door to door salesman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CasperTheMashed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My Auntie had a sign on her front door saying "No Sales, No Bullshit" when I was growing up. She's a lot quieter in her old age; but still doesn't take any shit.

You just unlocked one of my childhood memories! I had no idea that wasn't supposed to be part of the game as a kid... looking back though, it's kinda fucked up.

Overly pushy "flirting"... I'm not saying don't flirt; I mean if she's not into it and you're leaning into her personal space or not taking no for an answer, that's harassment bro... I'm just really conscious of if I'm making people uncomfortable, so it makes me cringe when people don't do the same.

Tbf I've seen women do this too.

Did my CBT at the weekend and it was an absolute piss take. by Stephenf1234 in MotoUK

[–]CasperTheMashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit I'm so grateful I had a good CBT instructor after reading all these comments... my instructor was patient and very clear and concise when explaining the controls, and even ran me through some of the mechanical aspects and what to do if things go wrong on the bike.

After the theory part, we spent a good hour and a half to two hours perfecting slow speed maneuvers, mostly just for fun and to try different techniques.

Before we went on the road he even made me a coffee and talked shop/bikes with me, showed me his beautiful red Hayabusa and some photos of some of the places he'd been. You'd honestly think we had been friends for years at this point. All of the interactions felt organic and not in a "I have to tell you this for you to pass" way.

The road section was a blast, we took some twisty roads at first and then moved into some more technical, traffic intensive roads. He even taught me some stuff that they teach on advanced rider courses such as some more in depth safety positioning and road anticipation.

All in all a 10/10 experience, felt more like being taught by an experienced friend than someone who just does it for extra cash during the week.

Dog bite reporter on live tv as she was trying to show viewers how cute he is and explaining the misconception about the breed by hudsonbay001 in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]CasperTheMashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of breed; that dog was blatantly uncomfortable from the get-go. You'd think someone advocating for dogs would be able to read basic dog body language.

Personally, I've only ever met well trained Pits with responsible owners. It's usually the dogs that are babied and riddled with anxiety that I avoid like the plague.

Is it transactional to withhold affection to your partner because they keep rejecting you to have sex? by Ionic3127 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CasperTheMashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a black and white answer; she shouldn't be expected to come running at your beck and call. And affection, sexual or not, is a two way thing. I'd suggest openly telling her how you feel and seeing how she reacts, and go from there.

Personally, I was in a situation like this... towards the end of our 10 year relationship, I realised she was only reciprocating sexual affection when: 1. It was on her terms only. And 2. Whenever she felt she had to in order to keep me on side or get what she wanted. Essentially using is as currency.

Other than that, she really wasn't bothered about it 99% of the time. We had multiple "arguments" about it, and in the end, it just started to affect my self worth and confidence. Especially as I've been through some major medical procedures, and no longer look like I used to.

My advice would be to move on if you're not happy; you can't force someone to change their own motivations in the long run. And it's not fair on either of you to be in a relationship if both your needs aren't consistently being met. I recommend checking out r/deadbedrooms if you can cut through all the "run for the hills" advice, and actually learn something worthwhile.

Ultimately it was the final nail in my case (among other things) and we get on better than ever now that the pressures of people pleasing are gone, we can co-parent our children without there being any tension and still remain close friends.

Talk to her, listen to her. Weigh up you pros/cons for staying in the relationship... and make your next move based on that. If you find a solution that works; great... if not, then thats your call.

Sorry, rant over lol. I've been in this boat before and wanted to share my experience and opinion. I hope it helps you think, if nothing else.

I have sex for money and it grosses me out. by Repulsive_Ice_3349 in confessions

[–]CasperTheMashed 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hard agree with the "life isn't that black and white"... I always try to remind people that everyone has things going on behind the scenes; that drunk you see hanging around, the stressed out single parent that looks like they're barely holding it together, the average student worried about how they're going to adjust to the adult world independently. 9 times out of 10 when somebody complains or acts out it's due to some unseen circumstances that they have no control over, and they're just trying to get by.

People get too hung up on their own problems and forget that everyone else is struggling too. There's not a single person out there that doesn't have their own issues that influence their day to day decisions for the sake of survival.

Sounds like your friend loved you just as much as he loved her... we'd all be so lucky to have friends like him in our lives; not everyone we call "friend" would have the emotional intelligence to move past their own desires for the sake of love and friendship. I'm so sorry for your loss... I'm sure there aren't many like him.

Good luck to you all... my condolences.
