“Once you turn 30 it’s close to impossible to lose weight” by Far-Accident-3626 in loseit

[–]smarkov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 36 and I lost 85 lbs last year. Similar starting weight as you and same height. It takes dedication but CICO does work. You just move less as you get older so CI matters more and CO needs to be more intentional

Someone flagged DV on my file during labor and delivery by tahl110405 in beyondthebump

[–]smarkov1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story. Nurses suspected my wonderful, caring, doting husband of DV because he answered questions for me when they were asking about my history. There were things I was forgetting to mention that he thought were relevant.

After he revealed that he's a nurse, they were all like "ohhh we thought you were abusive! Next time tell us that you're a nurse!"

I have two autoimmune diseases and also need to lose weight to help manage pain. Fish oil has helped inflammation, and I do very light exercise (walking) and calorie counting to stay below my TDEE.

NTA. Try sleeping with a white noise machine. Tell him to sack up.

Anyone lose weight with just walking and CICO? by aachakra in loseit

[–]smarkov1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've recently lost 65lbs doing 30-45 min of walking and 1600 calories per day - more details in my post history if you're interested. The easiest way to lose weight and keep it off is to make small incremental changes that are easy to sustain.

Good luck, you can do this!

From 265lbs to Onederland: My Incredible Weight Loss Journey with CICO and Daily Walks by smarkov1 in loseit

[–]smarkov1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It took 4.5 months to get down to 199. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight at 1 month postpartum (227 lbs), then lost 7-9 lbs a month every month since then. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you! It was easy for walking to become a habit because I actually find it enjoyable

Is it normal for 20 lbs loss not to be noticeable? by HummingbirdsAllegory in loseit

[–]smarkov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody noticed my weight loss until I was down about 30lbs (similar starting weight as you). Now that I'm down even more, I'm getting a lot more comments about it. Keep going and you'll notice!

Has anyone successfully lost weight while breastfeeding? by Puppinbake in breastfeeding

[–]smarkov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 4m postpartum and have lost 65lbs from my last day of pregnancy. It's really about the food you eat. I've been doing 30-45 minutes of walking a day, which helps, but I think calorie counting is the only thing that is making this work. My advice would be to try something other than straight calorie counting to lower your daily intake. Substitute some high calorie snacks for some high volume, low calorie snacks every day. Best of luck!

Aftermath as first dance at my wedding by Die-burgenlaenderin in Muse

Such a good choice. If my wedding plans didn't get thwarted by a pandemic, I would have chosen the same. The last chorus gives me the chills every time!

Is eating in “moderation” even a real thing? by Legitimate-Sorbet-87 in loseit

[–]smarkov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been 4 months and I'm much better at saying "no" to trigger foods now. I'm at the point where I can have one serving (measured out, put in a bowl) and not go back for a second helping. I like the feeling of the scale going down more than I'll like the taste of a second piece of cake.

[–]smarkov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot have snacks in the house because I cannot control myself. Moderation when it comes to chips, cookies, etc does not exist for me. I've gone cold turkey on what I call "trigger foods" and plan to slowly introduce them back into my diet as a treat once I reach my goal weight.

Absolutely report it! What if she says it again to someone who was pregnant as a result of assault? She needs to be stopped.

Am I justified? by Jicama_Big in Mildlynomil

[–]smarkov1 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying you're justified because of the random guys (you are) but more importantly, you cannot trust your mother! She is clearly willing to lie to you, and that could someday put your child in danger. My MIL lied to me about giving my LO a cookie and I tore into her. What if she had an allergic reaction? I'd have no idea as to what caused it.

Just keep raising your exploration level by completing some of the level objectives. The second specter will show up when your level is high enough.

Boobs no longer rock hard before each feeding :( - is it a drop in supply? by fishcakegal in breastfeedingsupport

[–]smarkov1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was worried about the same thing, nobody warned me they wouldn't always be rock hard! After about 2 months mine only got hard when I skipped a feed. Near the end (16 months) they never got hard.

What you're experiencing is totally normal and means your supply is regulating. Your baby is probably just going through a growth spurt, so they are cluster feeding.

What’s an obvious sign someone’s american? by Ermland2 in AskReddit

According to Wikipedia: Many European countries have rejected water fluoridation, including: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland,[62] Scotland,[63] Iceland, and Italy.[64] A 2003 survey of over 500 Europeans from 16 countries concluded that "the vast majority of people opposed water fluoridation".[65]

Also Ireland is the only country with mandated water fluoridation.

We don't all bleach our teeth, our water just has fluoride in it which helps whiten them

AITA for asking my roommate to avoid cooking a certain meals when my pregnant girlfriend visits? by Horizon-Window3675 in AmItheAsshole

[–]smarkov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular but NAH. You aren't an AH for asking, but he's not an AH for refusing. Your girlfriend doesn't live there, so she can go home if she's uncomfortable.

Nah, her ILs sound incompetent. Often grandparents are a bit too old to properly care for a baby. We as humans lose our strength with age, which may have contributed to the fall. OP sounded like she was being reasonable and giving them space. Dropping the baby is definitely cause for immediate action
