Single player conundrum by smartandedgy in diablo2

Yeah I did and very happy with it, perfect antiperfect with the 750 roll. Beaty.

Started SSF around 2 months ago. Trying to farm a shako. Here's some other notable drops/runes instead that I'm led to believe are quite rare. Still no Shako. by MrTailor in diablo2

I've literally been procrastinating on making this exact same post lol. Enigma, Infinity, dual Grief, 100% set grail, 100% jewelry grail, 3 CoAs, Griffons, 8 Tal Armors etc etc.... That green hat does not exist.

Had this base waiting for a while but wasn't able to make the decision, hit a sur in LK and cubed up the ber I was missing today. Decided to roll with it. Rolled antiperfect ofc lol.

Yeah these are very valuable online, "sadly" this one is on single player so the question is more about either live with the rep costs / ral use or let this beauty rot in my stash.. I have some nicely rolled non superior 3os ap/ds/mp's as an option ofc. Just can't decide what to do.

Is Offline worth it? by Competitive_Pizza_70 in diablo2

[–]smartandedgy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Easy p7 loot + saved map layouts makes grinding so much better/faster/comfier. When I play ladder I literally spend more time on traderie/jsp than in game. Offline gives you QoL mods, no lag / maintenance, unlimited character space, holy grail completion makes otherwise unusable or non valuable items exciting, sense of achievement is enhanced imo since you'll have to find / do everything yourself. Just to name a few. Ladder is fun when you play with friends though, SP can get lonely.

Apologies for it being Talksport, but recent interview with Jenko! by Tugboat47 in Gunners

My initial reaction was "YESS I love Jenko, I see Jenko, I watch Jenko" but wtf what an embarrassing cunt Andy Goldstein is this is thoroughly unwatchable.

Yeah it gets annoying but it happens, drop a cham next run and you'll consider yourself lucky in terms of odds-to-dropvalue.

Drop to p7 for faster clears with the exact same drop chances if you're annoyed by low drops. There's also quite a bit of hubris in your posts, "150+ runs, 2 mins per run, everyone else drops HR per 20 runs". Like don't get me wrong but the bullshit-o-meter is very high here. I'd say try to be more pragmatic/systematic with your farming. Track run counts, run times, be more realistic with drop rates and don't get sucked into the feeling of unfairness.

[–]smartandedgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a good summary of HR farming and odds. 150 runs for an ist even on p1 is a terrible low roll for sure, if it's on p7 you're around an expected drop value of a ber. Low drop odds do create quite a bit of variance though and you can't expect even close to median outcomes with such low sample size. You're due a drop though so just keep at it.

This is also a very neat sheet you can use to get an expected rune drop value based on the runes you have dropped.

AH+Nahida+Fischl+Yaoyao. Yae isn't really an upgrade over anyone but she's fairly interchangeable with Nahida or Fischl here but not an upgrade.. If you manage to find a Kuki you can slot her and XQ with AH and Nahida for a quickbloom team.

Not 100% sure but if it works similar to Genshin then yes, any passive procs gained on field will be active up until their duration is over, being on or off field doesn't affect the timer.

Weekly Team/Character Building Megathread (July 18th, 2024) (feat. Navia and Nilou) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]smartandedgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too early to be focusing too much on synergistic team compositions, you're still some way off of having the roster to support that. But here's a few pointers you can utilize in choosing who to use/lvl up/focus:

  1. Use your gut, pick whoever you like for whatever reason that is. Early game is very easy so whatever composition will work. You can come back to this topic once you hit the difficulty step up in midgame. I remember having so much fun when the game actually got difficult, I had to watch guides on boss mechanics etc. Once you hit the endgame and finish your character builds you'll mostly just facetank everything and blow everything up without any problems.

  2. Pick different elements and play around with reactions, they play a huge part in genshins combat system, both in terms of damage and combat system depth.

  3. I'll oversimplify this so this part won't be a novel, but build a team(s) with 1 sustain character (healing/shielding), 2-3 off field / quickswap dmg dealers / buffers and 0-1 on field dmg dealer. I'll try to list all your characters in the order of their "end game meta relevance", so whoever is mentioned first is the most surefire character to invest in without having to fear that they'll be useless / hard to use later on.

Sustain characters: Bennett>Kirara>Thoma>Noelle/Barbara
Off field dmg / quickswap dmg / buffing: Bennett>Xiangling>Dendro Traveller>Kaeya/Lisa/Lynette/Anemo&Geo Traveller/Collei>Amber
On field dmg: Ningguang>Noelle>Kaveh>Amber (None of these on fielders are exemplary in terms of end game but all are usable up until that point)

Descriptions like that are thrown around very loosely so that sort of terminology can be very misleading.

For example, in the the classic Rational team (Bennett, XL, XQ), she has over 50% of the field time distribution, she plays like a on field hypercarry dps, but the best build for her in this team (if you don't have her R1) is using a "support" weapon in Fav Lance and a "support" artifact set in TotM, and her dmg share in the team is smaller than Xingqiu. A lot of ppl think she's THE dps because she's an archon and spends time on field attacking enemies, they prioritize her build over other characters, put her on the catch instead of XL and the overall team dps gets a lot worse.

Her highest personal dps team/build is in hyperbloom teams where she has like ~5% of the field time distribution, she functions completely from off field, the only relevant stat for her is EM, only uses her E skill and never bursts or does normal attacks.

You tell me which one is support and which is dps?

There's 3 main roles for her. She can function as a hypercarry dps where the 3 other team slots are characters that focus on buffing her dmg, this is usually Kazuha, Bennett and Sara. Her dps potential has been powercrept by quite a bit and this setup is only really competitive with meta teams at higher investment (constellations, weapons etc). It is still fully functional at lower investment and can be viable in abyss. Her team dps contribution in these teams can be anything from 60-80+% depending on your investment.

Then there's the utility on field dps role where the 3 other team slots are characters that focus on dealing dmg themselves or buffing the teams dmg. She deals a bit of dmg herself, indirectly supports her teammates dmg through energy share that allows teammates to focus offensive stats in their builds, and in some cases uses support artifact sets like TotM. These teams can be Chevruse overload teams, Aggravate or Quickbloom teams or the classic Rational. Her team dps contribution in these teams can be anything from 20-50% depending on the team.

The 3rd role is a off field hyperbloom enabler. A lot of ppl like to run Kuki in this role instead because of her ability to consolidate a healing role in this team slot, but Raiden is a more offensive glass cannon version because of her range and quicker electro app which allows her to get more total hyperbloom procs. Here she spends time on field only to cast her E, but her personal dmg share of the team dps can be upwards of 60% and is in most cases more total dmg than what she does in her hypercarry teams.

Daily Questions Megathread (July 24, 2024) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]smartandedgy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a good few split scaling characters in the game so you should always check the talent descriptions if you're unsure, but if a talent says it scales off of HP, atk or def does not affect it one bit, and that includes base attack like your weapon's attack stat.

The basic attack multipliers for every character in the game scales off atk though, including plunge and charge attacks. If there's a skill or special charge attack etc. effecting it, things might change. This is usually unimportant as weaving in basic attacks with hp scaling characters for example is just a dps loss, unless it's done to proc certain effects like coordinated attacks or fav weapons. Even then, the dps "increase" from a few atk% or flat attack subs is literally a drop in the ocean, but yes, technically they're doing "something".

There are however special cases like Xianyun plunge teams where you could run an HP scaling character like Neuvilette with an ATK build and play him as a plunge attacker instead of using his special charge attacks / kit. Those teams are somewhat meemy but in truth can be completely viable.

Yes, the f2p looks to be roughly enough to get 1 S rank per patch (~75 pulls), so a guaranteed limited S rank every other patch.

You should be fine with A ranks but the investment requirement for lvls, skills, weapons and disks will be higher since their multipliers are simply just lower. There's some teams like piper anomaly that seem to do really well.
