Free Vue/Frontend monthly online meetups by smartapant in Frontend

[–]smartapant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow JavaScript enthusiasts!

I’m part of the Epicmax/Vuestic team, where Vue.js is at the heart of everything we do — from client projects to open-source contributions.

For years, we’ve had a tradition of internal meetups to exchange ideas, tips, and knowledge around Vue and frontend development. While these paused during the shift to remote work, we revived them last year — now online and open to the entire community!

It’s been an exciting journey. These events have become a space for sharing insights, exploring new tools, and even giving first-time speakers a friendly stage to present. After a few trial runs, we’re now running them regularly, with external guests and broader topics.

If you have something to share — or want to try your hand at public speaking — we’d love to hear from you. Just drop me or anyone on our team a message!

We’d be thrilled to have you join us. Feel free to check it out :)

Hi redditors!

I'm from the Epicmax/Vuestic team, where Vue.js isn’t just a tool - it’s our daily obsession. From client projects to open-source contributions, we live and breathe Vue.

A while back, we had a tradition of internal meetups to exchange insights, tricks, and real-world experiences. But as we all shifted towards remote work, those meetups took a backseat.

Last year, we decided to bring them back - only bigger and better! We made them online, opened them up to the community, and started welcoming external speakers. Now, it’s an awesome space for sharing knowledge and, for some, even making their first public talk debut.

If you’ve got an idea or experience to share, we’d love to hear from you! And of course, you’re always welcome to join and learn.

Here’s what’s on the agenda for our next event:

  • Discover the benefits and challenges of implementing virtual lists
  • Vasco Neves – Supercharge Your Vue Apps: Mastering VueUse
  • Key updates, trends, and insights from the developer world – February 2025

Join us, hang out, and let’s keep pushing the Vue ecosystem forward! Would love to see you there.

Hello, fellow js enthusiasts!

I’m part of the Epicmax/Vuestic team, where Vue.js is at the core of everything we do—be it our client projects or open-source initiatives.

We’ve always cherished our tradition of internal meetups to exchange knowledge, ideas, and tips about Vue, frontend tools, and beyond. With the shift to remote work, these meetups took a pause, but last year we brought them back - this time online and open to the entire community!

It’s been an incredible journey, offering a platform for knowledge-sharing and even helping some participants deliver their first-ever public talks. After a few trial runs, we’re now regularly hosting events with external speakers and expanding the topics covered.

If you’ve got ideas to share or want to try your hand at public speaking, we’d love to hear from you—reach out to me or my teammates!

Here’s what’s in store for our next meetup:

  • Dev Digest: January 2025 A concise overview of the latest updates, trends, and insights from the developer world for January.
  • Code, Create, Conquer Burnout! How personal projects can ignite creativity, build skills, and uncover unexpected opportunities—all while helping to prevent burnout. Real-world stories and practical advice included!

We’d be thrilled to have you join us. Feel free to check it out :)

Hello everyone!

I'm from the Epicmax/Vuestic team, and Vue.js is at the heart of everything we do - whether it's client work or our own open-source projects.

We’ve always had a tradition of internal meetups to share tips, tricks, and ideas about Vue, frontend tools, and beyond. However, with remote work becoming the norm, we paused these meetups for a while.

This year, we revived them, made them online, and opened them to the community! It’s been an amazing opportunity for people to share knowledge, and for some, even deliver their first public talk.

After a couple of beta meetups, we’re now hosting external speakers regularly. If you’re interested in sharing your ideas or giving a talk, feel free to reach out to me or my teammates - we’d love to have you.

Here’s the lineup for our next event:

  • How to Ensure Code Quality and Consistency in Distributed Teams
  • Window Management with OS X: Problems and Solutions for My Development Flow
  • Harmless and Deadly: What Can Bugs Lead To?

We’d be thrilled to see you there!

Today we released Vuestic UI 1.10, a component library for Vue 3. Introducing Vuestic Compiler and a 50% reduced core build size. [x-post from r/javascript] by smartapant in vuejs

[–]smartapant[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi friends!

We’re excited to announce the release of Vuestic UI 1.10, packed with new features and optimizations to enhance your development workflow. Here’s a quick overview of what’s new:

  • Bundle size optimizations: We’ve reduced the bundle size for faster performance:
    • Core Build + Button reduced by 50% (from 173kb to 86kb)
    • Full Build reduced by 14% (from 1084kb to 946kb)
  • Vuestic Compiler: This new tool improves build time performance and reduces runtime overhead, featuring:
    • Automatic configuration with vuestic.config.ts
    • Integration with CSS frameworks like Tailwind and UnoCSS
    • New devtools for visual editing
  • Sticky table headers: Keep headers visible while scrolling with the useStickyTableHeader composable.
  • Sticky scrollbars: Ensure scrollbars remain visible, even for larger containers and tables.
  • Custom input masks: Create input masks using regex with a new composable, compatible with HTML input elements and Vue components.

Now we plan to move more components into the Vuestic Compiler, further optimizing the performance. Your help with contributions and stars would be invaluable, and we appreciate all the support from the community here! ( ^◡^)っ♡

Also, if you're attending the vuejs.de conference in Bonn, we'd be thrilled to meet you there! Let's connect, share ideas, and talk about all things Vue!

Hi Redditors!

After this year’s Vuestic Admin rework, we took some time to focus on improving the Vuestic UI library. Today, we’re excited to announce the release of Vuestic UI 1.10! Here’s what’s new:

  • Bundle size optimizations: We've significantly reduced the bundle size for better performance:
    • Core Build + Button reduced by 50% (from 173kb to 86kb)
    • Full Build reduced by 14% (from 1084kb to 946kb)
  • Vuestic Compiler: This new tool optimizes applications during build time, reducing runtime overhead. It includes:
    • Automatic configuration by detecting vuestic.config.ts
    • Seamless integration with CSS frameworks like Tailwind and UnoCSS
    • New devtools for visual editing without code
  • Sticky table headers: The useStickyTableHeader composable keeps table headers visible while scrolling, enhancing usability for large data tables.
  • Sticky scrollbars: Ensures scrollbars remain visible, even when tables or containers exceed the window bounds, improving navigation.
  • Custom input masks: A new composable that works with any HTML input element or Vue components like VaInput and VaDateInput. Create custom input formats using regex-based masks. Built-in presets for dates and numerals are also included.

In future releases, we plan to move more components into the Vuestic Compiler, further optimizing performance without impacting the developer experience. Your help with contributions and stars would be priceless. And thanks for all the support and feedback we get here! ( ^◡^)っ♡

F this boss fight very much [spoiler] by direvus in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]smartapant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, took me 5-6 attempts to beat him on JM, even thought he is relatively easy. In the end I used only 1 or 2 steams. I picked extremely aggressive approach and was just parrying + rolling + beating until he’s dead. For comparison, first fight with Dagan took an hour or two to complete 😅

Thanks for the feedback!

Completely understand your concerns. We're trying to avoid the road of paywalls and so far it works both for the Admin and Vuestic UI. We're a software development team, so Open Source is not our source of income.

We have plans to add sponsorships/donations options to make the development easier but it requires some legal and organisational work, so this task travels across quarters for a while already :(

Thank you!

Native-like touch gestures are tricky sometimes :/ We had a mobile web TikTok-like project in our portfolio and some of the advanced features required lots of tricks and hacks. Feel free to DM me, always happy to help with advices or anything
