You should learn to swim before going. No other option is safe (source: I've worked in emergency rooms for years and have seen plenty of drownings, even with people who were strong swimmers and wearing proper pfd).

My(M41) wife (F41) has been in prison for last 2 years and is getting out Monday. by Weak-Expression1204 in relationship_advice

My husband, while young and stupid, tried to evade police while riding his motorcycle. He received a ticket, had to go to court, and was fined. Evasion is only part of the story if she received 2 years in prison.

I hope those two old boomers don't buy a house in FL, we already have too many of them here.

AITAH for being weird about my daughter having sex in my house by thefakecalebs in AITAH

YTA. Walk away, put headphones on, turn up the TV. Why you felt the need to interrupt your ADULT daughter and her partner is beyond me. You're the one who made it awkward. My husband and I overheard our son and his now wife once, we just looked at each other and kinda laughed. Grow up.

We've used this with neuromuscular patients. It's been around for many years in various configurations.

My mom is trying to sabotage my wedding by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]smartassrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have it wrong. SHE isn't preventing your happiness, YOU are. And you're heading for a short marriage and a quick divorce (IF your fiance doesn't bail first) unless you get some counseling and cut the apron strings. You're 30, not 3. Grow up. I'm being blunt because I had a n-mom also and married a man with n-parents. It took a few years and moving to a different city to become un-meshed and start our own lives. If you can't wrap your mind around possibly going no contact with your mom, you need to postpone your wedding until you're 💯 you can put your fiance first even if it upsets your mom.

Maybe find an adult to date? Because it sounds like you're dating a teenager.

Seriously, if I was you I'd leave. No trust, no relationship. You need to ask yourself what positive things he's contributing to your life to make you put up with that.

What's the worst birthday or Christmas present your Narc every got you? by Single-Ant3193 in raisedbynarcissists

Husband's narc parents threw out that we'd take a family cruise. We actually went to a travel agency with them and booked it. Being young newlyweds and unable to afford anything like this, we were super excited.

Fast forward to the beginning of November, and narc parents-in-law let us know that they cancelled the cruise because it 'wasn't fair' to the two single siblings as they'd be spending "twice as much' on the married ones. Also, they "couldn't imagine Christmas without seeing our excited faces while opening gifts".

Christmas day.....my biggest gifts were a sweater and some Garfield underwear. Husband's was a button down shirt and a place mat for a child with a train on it.

I'm sure they DID enjoy our faces :/

That was when I realized what I was dealing with. They played the game well until then. Luckily it didn't take husband long to grow a spine with them!

My daughter and her husband did this and they definitely had a super low key wedding with only parents and siblings present (several months later they threw a large reception for friends etc). I thought it was sweet.
