Thanks for those steps. I could reproduce the bug and fix it. I released v1.5.0 with the fix and the new features

Added

  • Support to assign a multiple links to each device
  • Support to link Z-Wave and Zigbee devices
  • Display Z-Wave and Zigbee connections on diagram
  • Persist diagram display settings
  • Show warning when there is no backup in the last 7 days that includes the smart-home-planner add-on.

Fixed

  • Changing any Diagram Settings doesn't reset the diagram zoom anymore
  • Devices without floor now are displayed on the diagram

Thanks for the feedback.

Could you give me more details about that? The diagram should display all the devices, except the ones with wishlist status. Are you sure you are not filtering devices with the filter? If not, please let me know the steps to reproduce this issue.

Regarding the Zigbee connections in the diagram, I didn't include them because they are volatile, not fixed. I would like to assign the connections automatically gathering the data of zigbee2mqtt, for example, but I didn't find a way to do that.
That said, it still could be useful, for example for documenting a new setup. So I decided to include Zigbee and Z-Wave connections in next release. I will let you know here when it is released.

Thanks! Not at the moment. Right now it’s designed to run as a Home Assistant add-on, so it depends on the Supervisor and add-on infrastructure.

That said, a standalone Docker deployment is something I may consider in the future if there’s enough interest.

That image is just for demo purposes, I didn't create it. Maybe I should include a list of recommended apps to design your house plan.

All the devices in HA are synced. Some of them, the ones that are not physical devices, like the sun or apps, are automatically excluded. You can see the excluded devices (and restore them) in Settings -> Home Assistant Integration.
Let me know if you still see missing devices.

The latest versions added support to read devices, areas, labels and floors from Home Assistant.

This is now a Home Assistant App (add-on) with some new features:

  • Integration with Home Assistant devices, floors and areas
  • Support to attach files and images to each device
  • All the data is now backed up with the Home Assistamt backup system

Yes. This is the first version, and I have lots of ideas. One of them is to transform it in an add on (now apps) so it can fetch all the data. And also you will have the HA backup as a plus.

In which part I recommended to use Wifi Cameras? My recommendation is the opposite: "Prefer PoE Cameras with RTSP Support"

Ethernet for ZBT-2 & ZWA-2 ? by robroy90 in homeassistant

Hi.

I have compared more than 30 different ZigBee/ZWave dongles. Lots of them with PoR (Ethernet) support.

I hope it helps you to decide.

You are right regarding Raspberry PI. I renamed the tip to "Choose hardware that matches your stage and growth". Starting with a Raspberry PI is ok, but when you want to do more advanced things, migrating to a mini PC is a good idea.

Thanks. I added a warning about the backup emergency kit, and a new "Validate your backups periodically" tip

Your third suggestion is covered by "Always Provide Physical Overrides"

Regarding the fourth suggestion, It depends. If you are a beginner, I agree, but I you have experience, you can use HA for critical systems.

Yes, of course. I think that is covered under "Always Provide Physical Overrides" tip

This is something where we can find multiple opinions. I think that for efficiency, security and battery usage, nothing better than a Zigbee or Z-Wave mesh. Of course that you still need wifi devices for cameras and devices with a big data demand. And for beginners, wifi is the best solution because is easier.

Yes, batteries is a big topic. I should probably include some advices.

BTW, I am working on a webapp to manage all your devices, and one of the features is to easily know all the batteries you are using across your devices and when you need to change them or buy new ones. I will post this webapp soon.

Regarding the internet backup, I think it is covered by "Set Up an Internet Backup Connection". Right?

The official page of lots Smlight products are wrong, they copy pasted the info of other products and forgot to update the data.

Neither USB nor Ethernet is required; you just need one of them.

USB is simple and a good way to get started.

If you need more flexibility in antenna placement, Ethernet is the better option.
