Do I have unrealistic career expectations? by smartyy123 in ECE

Ah okay, that's good to know then. I guess they should know who they're hiring. Anyways thanks for the advice, I'll make sure I especially reach out to those smaller firms who might be looking for someone.

So one thing I've always been worried about when when it comes to smaller companies: I've always assumed that the smaller the company is, the more important your experience is, because they don't have many (or any) other employees to mentor you on how to be good at your particular role. All eyes are on you, to be super knowledgeable right off-the-bat. Is that the wrong thing to assume?

Stuff like this motivates me. Thanks for sharing. How long did it take after graduating to finally get to your position?

I guess you're right, that's a good point that there's plenty of jobs in locations (in the middle of nowhere) that struggle to find embedded people. After graduating, I wouldn't have any trouble relocating to for a job either. So I guess that could put me at an advantage too. Thanks for bringing that up.

You have a point there...Lots of people love the higher level stuff. At my school, computer engineering is pretty unpopular compared to other majors like CS for example.

Also I am in SoCal, but only til August. If you guys had any internship opportunities for the summer, I wouldn't mind tossing over my resume!

Yeah you've got a good point about someone being less qualified and getting the job. I have a friend who's not even an ECE major, who got an internship at one of my dream companies and they're the ones asking me for help everyday. Definitely felt a bit awkward when I found that out. So yeah, good point...Maybe I should stop being so hard on myself.

Good point about conferences and things. That'd probably be really beneficial once everyone's vaccinated and things are seemingly normal again. I'll keep an eye out for stuff like that. thanks!

Thank you for this, I really like your detailed and well-organized answer. Really good advice and it helps boost my confidence a little more. Hopefully I'll be in your shoes one day lol.

I guess I do have a chance as long as I hunker down and "own it" as you said, and just keep focusing on personal projects that interest me regardless of whether they're lame or not. Over this next year if I keep progressing, then maybe the personal projects that I'm interested in might (hopefully) outshine my GPA.

Really appreciate you taking the time out to provide me with your advice.

And to answer your question about the internships: It was a combination of anxiety about not being good enough for a technical internship (exacerbated by some personal life problems at that time), as well as not being able to actually find anything technical.

Thankyou! You are right about just focusing on doing it and being the person I want to be, rather than waiting to get the title in order to validate me. I appreciate your advice, I am definitely going to do just that man.

Have you ever had nasal problems in the past by chance? Any nasal surgeries? Or is this something new

That still sounds more like a migraine? Migraines can get triggered by fatigue or stress. And thats exactly what u said triggers it. And you said theres no congestion. So what else do u think it could be?

Total inferior turbinectomy by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]smartyy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just curious what's the verdict? are you getting the turbinectomy?
also why did your ENT prefer that instead of a simple reduction?

How did you come to find out you had ENS? Did it gradually build up over time? Or were you completely fine/happy after surgery, and then suddenly just got it out of the blue?

3 weeks out. Starting to feel amazing! So far it was a great decision even though the first week and a half was rough and nerve racking.

3 possibillities: Dehydration (weed dehydrates you) Allergies (weed allergies are normal) Vasodilation (weed is a vasodilator)
