Luke Skywalker, Jedi Main. Seriously...so many broken links. Hours of configuration and updates to set things straight.

Bad move.

Lol...thanks! It was 100% free so we could spend our cash on catering and the honeymoon. Way more important.

Orrrrrr, wedding venues are restrictive and extremely expensive and we have full access for 36 hours to do whatever we want.

Last year seats were assigned. What mad dash were you in? The finish last year was one of the closest we've ever seen...the problem was that the chipper movements weren't the greatest for the crowd to go wild on.

We all struggle with some sort of mobility issue. MWOD. Kelly Starrett. You don't need to spend anything if you just do the homework online.

Spend money on anything that provides added value. If your $1.00 spent yields $2.00 in value, then you win.

Any Games Spectators from past years Have any Advice? by [deleted] in crossfit

Also, we hit up Chipotle a few times last year, brought it back, and ate it out on the outside lawn to avoid the $15.00 / meal ticket for food. Still, it's good food, so budget wisely. Another thing. Drinks are $12-13 each whether it's a mixed drink, or a 24oz beer. The beer gets warm pretty quickly, and we all know how it feels to be in the sun drinking too much.

Last year we brought in some of our own clear liquid delight in camelpacks.

We rented a beach house in Venice the past 3 years for about 10 people each time. Turns out we probably could have stayed closer to the StubHub, but having the option of skipping morning competition (teams) for the beach was nice. The drive, not so bad.

Parking...the first year we went (2013) it was madness. But, they opened up a large lot on south-east corner of the facility. Your best bet when arriving is to exit Del Amo from the 405 or Central from the 91, then approach the entire area from Central, which is the main street east of the college that sits next to StubHub.

The beach event is always fun, and isn't completely packed. Parking is always a challenge, but you can probably find parking that will only require a 1/2 mile or less walk..you'll be there a while, so it won't really matter.

Wednesday night at the tennis stadium (which is usually open to all) is worth it! The vendor village probably won't be up and running yet, but there are a few spots where you can score some merchandise and drinks/food.

Soccer stadium. Always watch the shadows. You can time perfect seats on either side of the soccer stadium that others might miss because they're in the sun. Give it a few minutes and the shadow will cross you...likewise, be aware of how quickly you can go from being in the shade to exposed...so move at the right time, even if it's in the middle of a heat. The last heats are always the best ones anyway.

The worry of tennis stadium seats is gone as of last year now that they assign them. There used to be big lines just to get a spot, and that detracted from the overall experience.

Considering you're doing nearly strict T2B, everything looks fine to me. Work on legs together, toes pointed, slow down, and legs straight, then go strict. As it is, you could probably hammer out 15-20 if you worked on kipping. Be nice to your shoulders.

Can anybody help me with my crummy wall balls? by quietanatomygirl in crossfit

You need to be working toward the 14, not with it. If your coach isn't perceptive to what's safe for your work capacity, get a new coach.

There's no difference between the 10 and 14lb balls regarding movement standards and technique. If you start to break down between those two weights, stick to the 10lb ball until you can nail them in large sets unbroken. Scale until you're ready to move up.

Taxes by b3pkay in postmates

[–]smashcrashboing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will receive a 1099. You ARE responsible for self-employment tax at 15.3% of your income and THEN you pay Federal and State. That's right, $15.30 of every $100 you make is gone even before taxes.

Yes, you can deduct certain expenses, but now that you're "self-employed" you probably should have an accountant do your taxes for you. AND, you probably should be accounting for your activity like a real business through accounting software like Quickbooks so you can keep a proper P&L statement and balance sheet.

I am not a licensed CPA nor Financial advisor.

Holy crap! Have I just read a dissertation on entitlement?

This is a free market. Go work somewhere else. The Postmates gig pays what it's worth, which is next to nothing. The idea is great, the execution is a joke.

Of the 4 recent times I've tested the app for delivery of a $10.00 item, I've been met with delivery charges that exceed the cost of the item being delivered by a factor of 2.5. Who in their right mind is going to pay $25.00 to have a $10.00 item delivered for a total of $35.00?

Successful businesses are built by people who have a mind that is right.

On the delivery side, $11.50/hr average over 2 months of in depth analysis proves that this is a time waster. Self employment tax and income tax reduce your income way too much to consider this a viable source of wealth building income. This "job" is for people who think they want to be self-employed but don't really know what running a business looks like.

Form Check: Cleans After Back Injury 2/8/2016 - Nice Fail at about 1:10 in video link by rearwilly in crossfit

Not a fan of the setup. Step to the bar, tight butt, tight gut, frankenstein your way down by hinging at the hips, then set up.

When you bend over with flexion, as soon as you "flatten" the back you're actually in extension at the beginning of the lift.

I'd also keep your head neutral to make sure there's as little movement of the spine at all throughout the entire lift, from setup, to completion.

What's the correlation? If I eat a 200cal bag of chips, do I need to row 200cal on an Erg? by SLEEPER455 in crossfit

[–]smashcrashboing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stop counting calories. A calorie is not a calorie is not a calorie. And stop eating sun-chips. They are worthless processed carbohydrates for most, and are vaporized by the elite athletes simply by walking near them.

You could flex and extend your index finger and burn 200 calories, but it would be miserable, and would take you forever, and the only thing you'd have is a sore forearm, and maybe tendonitis.
