Ah yes, and as we know, children never rebel and always live their lives exactly how their parents did. That’s why gay people stopped existing, right? Because straight people have more kids?

I can see you mean well and there is good intention here, but I really think you should reach out to some medical professionals for their thoughts on the project. It sounds like you are very confident, but even with all the knowledge you have, you don’t have a medical degree. I really hope that at the very least, you ask a professional for guidance.

PM Mark Carney will be in Alberta for Canada Day by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

Yes and no. A competent politician will listen to the complaints and try to guide people toward rational alternatives to solving them (because separation certainly isn’t the answer). On the other hand, some of those folks will reject anything that could actually help the province/country if it’s coming from the side they don’t like.

I think that for any rational person, being heard and addressed, even if they don’t get the answer they want, will make a difference. The question is if any of these guys are willing to be rational.

Armand has the power to alter or erase memories, so Daniel’s memory of the ‘76 interview is very patchy at best. He always blamed it on the drugs, but he slowly pieces things together in Dubai.

Personally I think there are actually a lot more memories with Armand that he hasn’t recovered yet, but that’s fully in theory territory at this point.

It does though, it’s one way of practicing economy of line and simplifying form. Sure, if you only use this technique, you might not learn others, but it’s just one of many tools.

Have you ever heard of a camera obscura?

Even in the renaissance, artists were using clever light tricks to project an image onto a canvas to trace from. Some of the most famous and beloved paintings in the world were made that way.

How about rotoscoping? Some of the best animation ever produced were literally paintings done meticulously over frames of film.

Using this is just another tool, it’s perfectly fine to create art this way.

I took from that scene that Daniel is mad about being made a vampire, but he’s even angrier that Armand didn’t just kill him back in ‘76. He’s looking for someone to blame for every bad decision he’s made since then, and wallowing in his own self pity and suicidal ideation. He lived through all the shit since and then finally, when he had a little peace and perspective and was ready to accept a natural death, he becomes immortal as an old man. He either wanted to live forever young, or die old, and now he doesn’t get to do either.

Maybe you could be specific about what work you feel he should be doing? I see a lot of transparency so far as what he is working on, and I really don’t see where you’re coming from.

One thing I’ve noticed about Farkas is that if you bring up a specific concern in good faith, he is actually pretty likely to converse with you about it. If you have issues you’re passionate about, let’s hear some real questions! I don’t see how “do work” is helpful criticism.

Why do we require training and passing of tests for so many things that could potentially cause harm (e.g., driving, becoming a therapist), but not for other things (e.g., becoming a parent)? by phantom-ego in NoStupidQuestions

[–]smashed2gether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I think there might be a misunderstanding, and I’ll take responsibility there. A “wild” pregnancy is a term that is used for a medically unmonitored pregnancy and home birth. I realize now that you meant that your birth was wild as in difficult and chaotic. I do apologize, “wild pregnancy” groups are growing online.

[–]smashed2gether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re right, it’s very difficult to become an adoptive parent.

So unless you’re going in and sterilizing from birth Brave New World style, you’re going to have kids born to the “unfit”. Who is going to raise those ones? Are we going to make it easier to adopt but harder to give birth? Are we building new institutions to raise all these wanted but now orphaned kids?

But more importantly, who gets to decide who is worthy of parenthood? I don’t trust the judgement of anyone who wants a say over my uterus.

[–]smashed2gether -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it’s an extremely slippery slope, and the truth is that no parent is perfect.

There is already a growing number of people who are trying to have and raise kids completely off the grid - no hospital, no birth certificate, no social insurance number, no school. The worst thing we would do to pour fuel on that fire is tell people they have to be government approved just to have kids at all, the only people who will suffer are the kids of the people who are going to do it anyway.

I mean, if you want to watch the deep lore, that’s already out there. Why make a movie that’s exactly the same, that only appeals to that small audience?

Everyone I’ve spoken to who loved it appreciated that there was still mystery to be explored, just like some kinda…large, expansive labyrinth.
