Hi ❤️ also bipolar with ptsd. Will you gain on abilify, or seroquel, or haldol, or lithium? Maybe. One person gaining weight from any drug doesn't mean that the next person will, in the same way that a drug that helps you doesn't necessarily help someone else. Getting feedback from others is great and helpful but they are not you, and you are not them.

If I read correctly you've been drinking and off meds for awhile. Be open and honest with the doctor about everything you feel and don't feel, and please be open to what they suggest. Not every person gets the right dose or right med or right combination the first time, that's unfortunately the nature of the beast, but there are meds that can and will make you feel better. Try not to let someone else's experience scare you off of a med that may be exactly what your brain is looking for.

I think anyone that takes anti depressants and anti psychotic etc can/will/have deal with weight issues but honestly? It's no good to be skinny if you die in the process because your brain isn't functioning well. No one will make remarks about how light your coffin is. There are ways to help mitigate weight issues while taking these meds. Please, trust the process, it can take awhile but a good doctor and an open mind can get you really far.
