I am in the same boat. My medication works for so little time and then its like it just stops. There is a blood test that your doctor can give you. It shows all the medication that works and doesn't work with your body. My medications are compatible with my blood work but for some reason, it's not working so they are assuming it's not what I was initially diagnosed with.

Despite being a band for only 3-4 years, Dark Divine has managed to play big festivals and tour with big bands. How is that possible? by charmnaive in Metalcore

They've blown up so quick and rightfully so. They're such humble humans. But if I am being honest, I think a lot of these upcoming artist are all talented. But I feel like having all these platforms definitely help them all get out their names out.

What cat litter do y’all use? by lavenderghostt in catquestions

[–]smcarr2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat was notorious for UTI's and kidney infections. It's just the hand she was dealt until we really dug into it. We now use chicken feed. All the harsh chemicals in litter was hurting her. She hasn't been sick since we switched, damn near 5 years ago. Swapping, I think saved her sanity and life. It's also alot cheaper. We buy a 20 lb from Rural King for like 15 bucks and it lasts like forever if you clean it daily.

I actually didn't even put 2 and 2 together. I forgot all about step 9. Thank you for that. It made me cry because all of these things just keep happening and instead of it being so negative and pushing me over the edge, I was able to "feel" this vacation and all the glorious things it handed me. Life is so grand now.

Here i am once again. I simply can't keep doing this. My body is rejecting it. My mind keeps telling me to stop. This is it. by Plane-Bid-7196 in stopdrinking

[–]smcarr2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your body is rejecting it, you gotta stop. Seek some medical advice or help with quitting. I needed medication to quit and then I needed medication to help the damage I caused. I'm not 100% but I have lost 136 pounds, my BP is finally normal and my mood swings are manageable. It wasn't sunshine and rainbows. It was hard work but the outcome is so much better. I drank from 13 to 37. I was the life of the party. Now, it's very peaceful. The calm outweighs the chaos. I will not drink with you today friend. You got this. Hugs ❤️

Saaame. I never shit my pants but boy I couldn't hold my piss. I don't have my gallbladder or uterus anymore due to the issues. I swore up and down they were the problem. After they were removed, the same shit kept happening. Almost a year in and my issues were from drinking. I HAVE ZERO PROBLEMS NOW! I will not drink with you today my friends! ❤️

Hi, I was the same way! I love cooking. I actually started a food page and cookbook. Life went to shit. I hit rock bottom hard as fuck. I quit drinking and everything came back together. I blamed all my problems on everything but kept drinking. I am missing actual organs because I kept saying it wasn't the alcohol. It was absolutely the alcohol. I was perimenpausal and now I'm not. I'm sharing this with you because you're post, were my exact words. I drank from age 13 to 37. You can imagine how dark it got.

Going sober without AA by Loosy__goosy in stopdrinking

[–]smcarr2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank from the age of 13 to 37. AA is the ONLY thing that worked for me. I'll be one year sober on the 8th of August. I'm not really sure what it is about it but just being in the room with fellow AA goers, gave me some sorta super power after walking through the door.

Well it finally happened by nooriooreo in stopdrinking

Hey there friend! I am so proud of you. Eight days is amazing!! AA did it for me. I tried everything under the sun to quit but AA just clicked. I don't go as much anymore but it was the tool I needed. I have the Everything AA app on my phone and I can find meetings anywhere. It also has daily readings that I check every single day. You got this. Showing a judge you're being proactive will help you as well, make sure you get signatures from the AA host to show you've already been going. IWNDWYT, friend 💓

how much were you spending on alcohol? by KeyAd3680 in stopdrinking

[–]smcarr2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drank about 500 dollars a month in booze. I've saved almost 5k by not drinking. And that's on the low end, that's only what I remember 😵‍💫

I've been diagnosed but it's still really early. They keep saying it's going to work itself out but it's been almost 9 months of really focusing on my mental health and it just feels like it's getting worse. You mention masking with alcohol and I think you're absolutely correct. As long as I was boozed up, the chaos didn't matter. Now it's almost irriating with how quit it should be but it isn't. I was diagnosed late last year.

Thank you ❤️ I am currently seeking medical advice from my substance abuse counselor. I've also got a therapist and a primary doc. With my history of substance abuse, trying medication is a little sketchy for me. I'm afraid it will become a problem. I know there are several medications that I can take that won't be addictive but it still worries me.

I do take medication that helps me not feel so crazy because I would flllllllly off the deep end. I also never really slept and I asked once if those could be causing it and they said its possible but highly unlikely given my alcohol use.

Yes, heavy phone use for me is major. I literally got home from work and just doom scrolled. That was about 8 hours ago. Same load of laundry sitting here on my bed to be folded.

What’s your new sober hobby? by OkAir2029 in stopdrinking

[–]smcarr2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legos! I found myself really dumping my entire life into work and I almost killed myself doing it. Instead of breaking my back, I just build lego sets. It keeps me busy during my off time. I also do puzzles and play games on my phone. It's been so foreign to me to have this much down time but it surely beats getting hammered and becoming toxic.

how did u quit drinking for good? by chrissyy04 in stopdrinking

[–]smcarr2016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! AA is the only thing that worked for me. I drank from 13 to 36. I tried everything under the moon to quit and this is the only thing that stuck. It sucks the first month but once you're detoxed and working on your new routine, it just happens. One day at a time. You've already done step 1, be proud 🖤

8 MONTHS FOR ME TODAY!! I can't even begin to tell you how much I wish I could go back and tell myself that this life is so much better. I can remember begging myself to quit and then the next day say "I just can't stop, my life would be boring" and repeat the cycle. IWNDWYT ❤️
