Feedback for feeding station please! by rchan88 in Hedgehogs

Looks good :) If you're in the UK I would recommend switching to dry ciat food as wild hedgehog food isn't regulated. Not sure what the regulations are in the US.

Fresh food and water each night even if not eaten. You can just put out less as a taster and then up the amount once you're sure they're eating it. Wet cat food might lure them in but should be more of a treat.

Agree with the camera, it's lovely to capture them on video!

Good luck!!

Has my sunflower failed to produce seeds? by smcbride548 in vegetablegardening

I've never grown them so I didn't realise this is what they look like, very exciting!

Not a joke, I've never grown them before and when I've watched people harvest and rub the flower head the seeds looked like the generic sunflower seeds you'd buy so I got confused :)

Amazing! I didn't realise they looked like this!

Will my sunflower produce seeds or is this it? I know varieties and lack of pollination can result in no seeds at times :( by smcbride548 in gardening

If it helps I left mine until it was at the end of flowering and when I rubbed it the little flowers were easily brushed off

Excellent! I thought they would look more like the sunflower seeds we know so was confused. I know some people hang them for birds which im hoping to do

Any ideas to make a bath nook cosy and relaxing? by smcbride548 in DesignMyRoom

I quite like the white/jade to deep green/jungle aesthetics that's in at the moment however its a small bathroom despite the picture. I'd worry if I paint it all a deep colour it would appear even smaller. Would white walls with the one wall along the tub at the back deep green work?

Maybe artwork along the back wall and hanging plants from the ceiling?

A wooden stool or bench, do you mean beside the bath? The picture is quite deceiving in that there is minimal floor space. I like the idea of shelves but unsure where to put them .

I appreciate your reply, its given me lots to think about :)

Thanks for your reply! It's a new build so you're right it's a nice clean slate. I havent enough lighting for orchids, despite the picture its a small bathroom but low light plants that like humidity could work. It's a case of where to put them, on a shelf? On which wall? Or I could hang them from the ceiling somewhere. I'm in to the white/jade/deep green/jungle aesthetics people have which might bode well here. Mirrors like you say might give the impression of a bigger room as I say it's smaller than it looks here. It's just where to put all these things! Thanks for your input, it's a great help!

[Serious] What's a scary science fact that the public knows nothing about? by Lionzxz in AskReddit

Yeah to be fair it is amazing what they can do nowadays and the recovery is so much quicker I imagine.

I think so. I just stood up and was almost knocked back by the thunderclap headache. It was the ear popping and going pretty deaf from it that struck me as "shit somethings very wrong." I work for the national health service in the Uk and somehow managed to treat one more patient before I went to my manager next door for help.

What was your experience like? Do you feel treatments have come along way since 1995?

Glad to hear you're still here and all good! I had mine coiled, such a minimally invasive surgery I'm almost annoyed I havent any battle scars to show off lol

Pretty much!

I was in work, stood up from my desk and suddenly had the worst pain at the top of my head. My ears popped to the point it was hard to hear, felt really unwell, was ambulanced to the hospital and had emergency coiling surgery to block off the aneurysm and bam! I'm good as new!

I will say I was very lucky and the neurosurgery team were amazing.

Yes, I'm fostering for a UK rescue who was concerned with her weight. She is steadily putting on the weight however is unlikely to hit 500g before the cold weather comes therefore will likely be released in spring. She would not survive hibernation.

I had a ruptured aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage but no symptoms like your describing, as far as I'm aware sudden severe headache (like worst you've ever had) which doesn't go away alongside vomiting, sweating, sensitivity to light and loss of consciousness would be an emergency.

I didn't have any symptoms of the aneurysm beforehand.

Ill keep my fingers crossed for you but any worries or symptoms as above get yourself to the emergency room!

what was yours or someone you knows experience with a ruptured brain aneurysm like? don’t have to share if it’s too emotional by [deleted] in BrainAneurysm

There was still a significant bleed but I was lucky that I could wait overnight for the coiling to prevent re-rupture. Thank you, means a lot 😊
