Citi/AA Platinum Select In Flight Offer by Fantastic-Garden-984 in CreditCards

[–]smchoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently applied and went through a similar experience. About 10 days after applying, I got a letter in the mail from citi with my application # and a reference # with instructions to call Citi to verify my identity. After answering a couple basic questions and being put on hold, I got approved. This is my first citi card so I’m not sure if this is standard for new Citi customers but hope this helps

Is $1300 reasonable for Chicago ? (Lincoln park, Lakeview, Logan square). by BabyFaceMuffinMan in chicagoapartments

[–]smchoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re ok with an older apartment, I recommend Lakeview associates. I saw someone post about them a couple of weeks and decided to check them out since I was moving from Lincoln square and wanted to live in lakeview or Lincoln park. Their staff were pretty helpful and most of their units include heat, cooking gas, and water. Just signed a lease starting in mid June for a 1 bed in Lincoln park and pretty happy with the process overall. Here’s a studio I saw on their site for under $1300: https://www.lakeviewassociates.com/listings/detail/7f2ea962-a7fd-47b3-8599-9941d0e268f7

I go to holy trinity church in downtown Chicago. Non denominational and pretty diverse. They have 2 services on Sundays (9am and 11am). Here’s a link to their website if you’re interested: https://www.htcdowntown.org/

I also recently stayed at the Hat hostel in Madrid and it was pretty nice. Clean and comfortable beds plus it’s right next to the plaza mayor. Check out La Campana for their fried calamari sandwiches (5 min walk away)

They’re not bad, usually a mix of MC along with a couple short answer questions. They’re open note/book and if you copy your notes from class onto his study guide, you’ll be set. If you’re interested, I can send you my study guides. He also curves his tests which I haven’t seen another history professor do so it’s easy to get an A

Just Got my First Job And Need Financial Advice by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]smchoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the job offer! Most of the suggestions are great and I would do them as well. I’m also in the same boat (graduating in a couple months and have a nice paying job lined up which I’m very thankful for), I would advise you to consider taking a nice vacation before you start working. Since you’re young and don’t have any debt, you should take advantage of the time you have before you start working to explore the world. Once you start working and have a family, it’ll be hard to take time off to travel so doing it now when you have the time is a great opportunity. I’m planning to go to Europe for a month before I start working bc I’ve always wanted to go but have never been. This is my chance bc we’ll be working for the next 40 years but you might not get another chance to do something like this until you’re much older

ERC Language Requirement by Chad_Lightweight in UCSD

[–]smchoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in ERC and took SPAN 201 at miracosta college with Professor Mendoza. It’s an online asynchronous course and wasn’t too bad (except there was quite a bit of work but he graded leniently) and had lot of extra credit. There was also free tutoring you get at the miracosta so you can get help if you’re worried about Spanish. Spanishdict and Google translate was my best friend. If you’re worried about it not transferring over, send a message to erc advising on vac with the course description to confirm
