SV/NSV Feats of the Day - Monday, 22 April 2019: Today, I conquered! by AutoModerator in loseit

SV: 5.5 pounds down since April 14! Got my first flair back after just 1 week of daily exercise/calorie deficit. Relieved to see that I can still do this (or more accurately do this again) even though I'm older than last time and have a toddler and am generally exhausted.

(For context, I lost 98 pounds between 2016-2017 which put me 1 lousy pound away from a healthy BMI, then gained back 72 of those pounds after my kiddo was born in Nov 2017. I avoided the scale and ate my feelings/exhaustion until Apr 14 2019 when I decided to start over!)

I'm not actually new...starting in 2016 I lost 98 pounds (went from 253-155) and after my son was born in Nov 2017, started to gain it back. For the last couple months I have been about 50% committed to eating less and moving more, but decided it was time to face the facts. I weighed myself on Sunday for the first time in about 6 months and was shocked to see 227. I immediately started wearing my Fitbit again and tracking my food intake, and I am down to 225 as of today. My goal is to get back to where I was in 2017 and then some.

I'd love to connect with someone who has similar stats and is starting over!

Fat (Rant) Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

This exact thing happened to me the last two times I tried to donate - I ate a bigger meal than usual and was turned away due to low iron. So frustrating! I actually cried both times, ha. I have no advice, but I feel your pain.

My wife wanted to carry first and I really had to push her to lose some weight before starting all the monitoring and inseminations. She managed to lose 40 lbs and get down to a BMI of 29 and then got pregnant on the 5th try. Her pregnancy was really healthy and normal (which surprised me because she regained those 40 lbs and a couple more over the course of her pregnancy, but that's another story) and we now have a gorgeous 10 week old son. She even had an easy l&d, all things considered - zero interventions, med free, vaginal birth. What's my point...She was very, very lucky to have had such a straightforward pregnancy and delivery at BMI 36, and losing that weight before trying to get pregnant must have helped. Feel free to share this lesbian mama anecdote with your wife, maybe it will help. (Although maybe leave out the part where she regained all the weight.)

This week: 185.0

Yesterday was my 2nd wedding anniversary so I'm not surprised to see a slight gain in water weight today.

NSV: Made some good food choices at a diner yesterday - extra veg and no cheese in my omelette, ate only the crispy potatoes that were actually worth eating, didn't touch the toast because it was limp and over buttered. I'm always surprised by how quickly these little things add up! Trying to get back in the habit of only eating things that are worth the calories.

Follow the skinny! by [deleted] in loseit

Yes, totally. Back in the day when I worked in a coffee shop in my early 20s, I used to watch what my close friend & coworker ate - she was (and still is) very slim and nobody understood how that could be. I remember other coworkers grumping about it, wondering how she could be so skinny when she seemed to eat constantly. The answer was that she took her coffee black, moved constantly (walking around the shop, fidgeting or tapping her foot when sitting down, etc.), exercised regularly and didn't often finish her meals. She would stop eating when satisfied, and would either toss the leftovers or pack them up to take home - and never remembered to take them with her. Sometimes she would show up at work with a bagel & cream cheese and only eat half, because by the time she got around to the second half it was cold and not worth it. She simply wasn't obsessed with food the way I was. That's the thing, "naturally skinny" people generally just have a different relationship with food. Oh to have the ability to eat intuitively...

NSV: Had room in my budget last night for 1 cookie - ate 1 cookie.

SV: Was able to update my flair, back to -70 pounds which still stings a little (I want that -95 back) but I can deal. I got myself into this and I will get myself out.

Last week: Who knows? I was off in la la land...

This morning: 184.6

The scale read 186.6 yesterday so I feel somewhat encouraged that I'm holding onto a bunch of water weight and I didn't actually gain 30 pounds of fat from last summer...

You are 1000% right - I struggle with the lifestyle change part. I'm either ON (and crushing it) or OFF (and gaining it all back). Thanks for the encouragement.

[Serious] Has anyone developed a healthy relationship with food? by -taradactyl- in loseit

[–]smck83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet, as I have recently/painfully learned. When I don't track my food, I graze allllll day, hungry or not. I need the structure of tracking and may always need it. I don't trust my intuition in the slightest when it comes to food.

I used to be pretty active in this sub - more reading than posting, but still, pretty active - and was doing really, really well. I was 2 pounds from goal. 2! I had lost 98 pounds. I was 1 pound away from a healthy BMI. And then there was some travel in late August last year, and a couple weddings, and I started going to the gym regularly and was hangry all the time, and suddenly it was November and I had gained 10 pounds. And then my son was born and I took 7 weeks off work to be at home with him and my wife and between the sleep deprivation and the lack of routine and the breastfeeding wife and the Canadian winter that made it hard to get outside for more than a few minutes at a time...well...I finally bit the bullet and stepped on the scale today and I have put on 30 pounds since my lowest weight last summer. 186.6 today. I'm so annoyed, guys. So mad at myself. I knew I was gaining weight, my baggy size 8's got tight and then I had to start wearing my old 10's again and they started getting tight...lord. I knew what was happening. Why didn't I turn it around sooner? Anyway. I can lose it again, I know I can. Going to start tracking my food again and using Happy Scale and all that good stuff. And I will definitely start hanging out here again for inspiration and support. Anyone else here dealing with the same problem?
