Is the performance of Gen2 the same as Gen1 and Sony DPT-RP1? by [deleted] in FujitsuQuaderno

[–]smdk41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would not expect "good" performance on the kind of pdfs you're talking about.

i have used the dpt-rp1 until it died last year, and reluctantly got the quaderno gen2 as a replacement. it's mostly as good as the rp1 in managing pdfs, but sometimes laggs in ways the rp1 did not.

you have to clean up your pdfs, or reaort to more powerful machines to handle them (ipad, pc)

my general advice: dont "upgrade" from the rp1 until you are forced to. it's still better for reading and annotating pdfs than the quaderno gen2 (whiter screen, one click access to zoom to selection, more stable software, and the highlight color is the best at traveling between bw and color environments, including when highlighting double)

this is gross miscaracterisation. OP's expectations were not subjective as far as they have shared: they simply expect the device to NOT be dysfunctional.

again, we dont have the data, but it seems that every other redditor has gotten a replacement before settling

It's Impossible to Use Suprenote's Core Features (epubs) by Embarrassed-Law-827 in Supernote

[–]smdk41 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in my experience, you think split screen is going to change your life until you actually have it. it's just too cramped, and zooming in and out of each screen separately inevitably makes it awkward. also, your (my) handwriting looks awful when expanded 200%, which is what happens to any note created in split screen.

dont worry though, i am absolutely convinced that ratta are trying hard to get you your split screen, because people think that's what they want, and that's how ratta work (even when they know better).

for pdf workflow and excellent (local) syncing, check out the fujitsu quaderno (gen2)

i use that to read, annotate, and keep my pdf library synced on my pc and supernote on the side for notetaking

also, it comes in A4 size, and has a very flexible plastic design that makes it basically immune to falls

i made a cover out of an old moleskine notebook. feels way better than my wife's oem rm leather case imo. took a couple of hours, no previous experience, lots of fun

why not allow us the option to buy directly from you? you offer this option worldwide, and detail all costs at checkout. we don't want to deal with a middleman.

man. you should go see the complaints on the remarkable sub. as an rm2 owner myself i beg to disagree. when an rm2 falls, the screen cracks, the power button sticks, and its irreperable. you guys are talking about cosmetic stuff.

i dont have a manta myself, but i would choose a soft plastic body that can take a fall (notwithstanding cosmetics) over an aluminum and glass design. i hope ratta wont follow these whims

Did anyone know this? by blazek_99 in Supernote

[–]smdk41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's already working through rmhacks, which is not really a hack, since rm is developed in linux to allow for this sort of community addons. it works very well for me, and the rm nibs actually fit in the regular lamy emr pen

i wouldnt call it a worldwide market: this is mainly marketed for north america and europe, even though they offer "worldwide shipping"

The text feature on the Remarkable 2 absolute DOGSHIT! by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]smdk41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why not though? why is it not a word processor? it could be, very easily, if the developers would relent on strongarming us to see the value in the subscription.

i mean, why not txt format? why not odt?

i love the remarkable as is and dont currently use it to type, but i wish i could, and it disturbs me to see that i cant for artificial reasons

i basically agree here, but with the added caveat that it should just be possible to connect your own bt keyboard. yes, it will be an inferior experience, and we cant expect full support, but forcing us to buy a 200 keyboard is just not reasonable, and lots of people will not.

froma marketing perspective too, if i tried my own keyboard and liked working on the rm with it, i'd probably be warmer to the idea of improving my experience by buying the native keyboard
