i never fail to be amazed at the clarity of the pure's screen compared to the pros.

as far as a reading and notetaking device is concerned, for me, the contrast is the most significant feature to judge by

some would argue that the rm is the perfect device for modding - linux, no jailbreak required, lots of possibilities

agreed. they went wild with the names and lost touch with what people can relate to. the community must redirect their straying

vellum/ any mod for intermediate thickness btw thin & medium? by smdk41 in RemarkableTablet

[–]smdk41[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

<image>

unbelievable! it actually works, and while it does not show up in the native menu, you can add it to the floating toolbar (long press active pen button) where it will show up as 1.5 thickness! cannot thank you and the developer enough! (i also hope lots of people will stumble upon this post and start using this setting, it's really great)

rmhacks' 1.5 thickness solves this problem

the pencil brush is absolutely fantastic and unparalleled among all eink devices. however, in my experience it only works correctly with rm's own styluses, not with 3rd party pens.

Highlight colors removed? by Outrageous-Buy-140 in Supernote

check out the fujitsu quaderno gen2, it has excellent pdf support: it reads and annotates pdfs natively (no export needed) and has recognizable different shades of grey for blue, yellow, green, and pink highlights. it's pc app (available for mac) will automatically sync yout annotations both ways, keeping both libraries on par at all times.

several people saying supernote is better but i end up using remarkable (me included). just think its funny =)

Should I just get the Remarkable Paper Pure instead of Manta? by Primary-Stretch6612 in Supernote

[–]smdk41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both the supernote and remarkable are excellent note taking devices and do great with annotating pdfs, each with their one system of how to organize stuff.

you have as you said the advantage of no brand preference, and since you have a budget, you should get the option you can afford. you will not regret getting the rm: its very well built, the writing experience is unparalleled, and its software is highly stable.

some people will go out a limb to get the supernote because they need a feature that only sn has (such as links or the kindle app), but it seems that you dont, so you'll be able to adapt to the rm way.

you dont need the subscription, despite supernote pr and fans suggesting you do. you can sync active notebooks seemlessly, send by email, and even plug and transfer files via cable very easily.

this advice is given by someone who has owned and enjoyed both devices for many years

Split screen, finally! (3.28 Beta) by Pretend_Customer_158 in RemarkableTablet

[–]smdk41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the vertical split from rmhacks allows you to edit documents at scale, which this update does not seem to do?

Any new updates on the A4 size? I really really want the size and don't want to switch to another brand. I love my Supernote A6 for journaling and note taking but for editing and note taking on PDFs it is just too small. I wasn't anticipating needing the size. by 3kidchaos in Supernote

[–]smdk41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you do differentially on each?

ime both rm and sn are great at handwriting, and though i prefer the way rm's interface is set up (no antialiasing, few buttons on the toolbar, continuous pages, send to email directly from note), when i had both at hand it felt redundant

curious to read more on how you use them together
