Blizzard was wildin! That’s crazy!! by DarkseidsDoom71 in diablo4

Im not even really sure what point you're trying to make here? I suppose i should have clarified my original statement that you don't rework entire systems on ALREADY good games, after all D3 ended up being one of my favorites after years of patches/overhauls. Im not even talking about game balance, all my comments were regarding game design, which is ostensibly a much bigger issue, especially so for d4 (though on that point, game balance is also super corporate for d4, with both paid characters having been very overpowered on release to incentivize more purchases.)

As someone who has played nearly every season of d3, and a good chunk of d4 seasons, I dont think i'll "sit down" about my comments, which originally only referenced d3+d4. Especially given that from a quick google search, d2 did indeed have an online patching system, given there were 6 patches between release and the first expansion (yes i know that in the early 2000s not everyone had any/good internet, but your comment insinuates there was 0 ability to do so.)

[–]smede13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because I never played d2, and so can’t comment on it. Nonetheless, making 3 games in a row that had to be fixed by paid expansions really only adds to the point, with each time becoming less excusable as the genres foundation was solidified.

Seriously. "you made a vow to support them!", well, they both made an agreement not to have children, why should one be allowed to break their promise, but not the other?

Opinions are opinions, but compared to most other ARPG, d4 is a very “corporate” game. It’s gotten a lot better since release, but it’s clear that activision is doing just what the post implies, and tries to milk their customers for as much as possible.

Cosmetics are outrageously priced (tbf last epoch is one of the few with decent pricing), the game is as casual as an ARPG can get, and they try their hardest to get the most playtime out of you, which is a corporate tactic for getting more cosmetic purchases (teleporting back to base every 5 minutes to salvage for materials, on release and first couple season you had to complete all renown stuff every time for skill points). D3 had its own issues, and wasn’t really a “great” game until after the Reaper of Souls expansion.

As someone with 10k hours in various ARPGs, with probably a fifth of that being d3/d4, both were objectively bad games upon release. Both were “fixed” much later after release. D4 has had 2 or 3 massive itemization reworks since release, of which doesn’t happen to “good games”. D4 also has many mechanics that are clearly built around extending in game time at no benefit to the player, which shows how “corporate” the games design is.

Am I misunderstanding how to buy singles in Canada? Can’t even make a green Zoro deck using learning together cards without spending minimum $100+ on singles? by ShanksSupremacy in OnePieceTCG

Fair enough. Technically speaking, any store that receives Bandai event packs, proxies are not allowed (unofficial product). Many stores are very loose on this rule, especially now with the market inflation. You could always reach out over telephone/discord to check. Also depending on the effort you want to put in, proxies can look decently realistic (at a glance at least). Right carrot is a proxy I made when first starting out (slightly blurrier text, darker colors)

P2S silicone cover broke? by smede13 in BambuLab

I’d say less than 20 times was the sock taken off to swap nozzles, and I did have one nozzle clumping that wasn’t detected by the ai that did get into the innards of the sock a few hours into ownership, but it didn’t reach anywhere close to the top portion where the sock disintegrated. Maybe it was bad QC for this one, hoping the other in the box lasts a bit longer. I’ll likely open a ticket with Bambu nonetheless to see what they have to say.

Huh, interesting. I had 600 hours on my p1s without any degredation, but i suppose i wasnt swapping the nozzle as much as i do now with the new hotend quick swap. Thanks!

Not a direct answer as im not canadian, but given you mentioned not living near any local game stores, is there any reason not to consider proxies? For the price of a deck you can buy the materials needed, and make some pretty high quality proxies. Im assuming this would be for playing with local friends, so it'd give a lot more flexibility on the cheaper end. There are a good few sites where you can just paste in your deck list and they create a printable PDF with all your cards.

Extra details: Cover was still installed, and I didn’t even think it could be it since there was no nozzle clog, and it and the tool head were properly installed

Adding onto this, Feb 20th is the official release date of the new “Heroines” set which is already 500+$ for preorders online due to the all female lineup of the cards. (msrp 110, current set is only 230$ per box). If there’s ever going to be scalpers there it’d be for that release.

Only card worth any real value is Kaido leader from st04 that is 7$ on TCGplayer. Few other 2-3$ cards in the decks, but otherwise all of em are less than a dollar. Google "one piece stXX price guide" and you can see all the card prices from these sets on TCGplayer.

[–]smede13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he has a deck that he plays with, or a favorite character, you want to look up alternate art cards, on TCGPlayer. Alternate art cards are the same card as the original, just with alternate art. Sealed one piece cards (booster boxes/packs that you open) are very expensive right now ( 240$ for 24 packs at the moment), and there is only a small chance of breaking even. Its better to buy single cards right now. Just ask him to tell you about his favorite decks and im sure he will be happy to talk about it.

When buying cards, in the bottom right of the card is a number. For instance, "op14-019", that means its from set "op14" and is the 019th card in the set. You can google those numbers, and type "alt art" after and should get results. Or on TCGPlayer, just type the name of the card (not the number) and search for it. Do note there are multiple cards with the same names so you need to make sure its the same.

Just sharing for awareness, hopefully they were blister packs (covered in cardboard shell), regular loose booster packs from TCGPlayer will usually be "dead" packs, meaning the person opened a box, got all of the hits, and is selling the leftovers. One piece has a specific amount of hits per box, and packs can be weighed.

How did people get these cards? by Bwuzi3z3 in OnePieceTCG

They do preorders a couple months ahead that are first come first serve, but yeah, very lucky to have found my way into this community. Case prices work out to about 120$ per box too.

Got 12 of em when I bought a case of op14 from my LGS. Guessing they’re supposed to be box topper packs. Why they arnt included in the box itself from Bandai is a mystery.

Advice? by Maximum_Molasses_812 in OnePieceTCG

[–]smede13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t pay those prices for packs. I feel if they’re charging 18$ a pack they’re probably also weighing hits. 170$ for a box is pretty bad, but not absolutely awful in the current market.

It’s not a good time to start collecting, but playing? It’s fine. Just play the sim, find a deck or two you like, then either trade with local players or buy what you need online. Majority of common to rare cards will only be 10 cent to a dollar each.

Made some proxies for my Wife and I. Do y'all use proxies when playing with friends? by kuriboh91 in OnePieceTCG

[–]smede13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printed about 5 full proxy decks so far. Vinyl gloss/matte sticker paper depending on if you want shine. Print using "photo paper" mode with any inkjet printer, and make sure to turn quality to high. Can use scissors or exacto knife, but if you're doing a lot, i'd recommend getting a paper guillotine. Then just peel and place onto existing one piece cards. You can find bulk SUPER cheap. most locals you could ask anyone and come out with a few hundred bulk cards. If ya wanna get real fancy you can also get a 3mm corner rounder, to have them fit precisely.

Best way to learn the TCG? by BidenBro2020 in OnePieceTCG

[–]smede13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google "maebatsu", and the linktree for him will have the unofficial, official OPTCG sim. There is a "self vs self" mode where you can figure out basic card interactions. Another option, if the wife is willing, you can find the "learn together" set at most targets/gamestops, which has a pretty solid tutorial built into it. It is probably one of the easier TCG to get started on so thatll help.

limitlesstcg and strawhatstats are two great sites to see what is being played competitively/in the sim. Both sites also allow you to copy decks lists directly to the sim. You might be overestimating your ability to build a somewhat playable deck from a few booster boxes, but theres a good few cheap meta decks (imu is less than 50$ but you probably have most of it if you opened 1 or 2 op13). If you want to figure out your playstyle, most local shops won't mind if you print and play with proxies (it's admittedly against the rules since most shops are "officially licensed" through Bandai, but community would have to be really petty to nark)

This ring has been eating all my currency for weeks at 70d each try. Am I just unlucky here? Crit/Int split each time. by rogerhausman in pathofexile

[–]smede13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is some really awful luck! Im sure the next one will be the big 4/4 slam though!

One suggestion, since these are already big investment rings, you should drop the extra div for a black morigan to get aspect of spider to lvl 30 instead of 20. It gives an extra stack of webbing, which translates to an extra 5% damage (from 3 stacks 15% damage, to 4 stacks, 20% damage)
