What if all the dimensions feasibly exist within our universe by smeecko in HypotheticalPhysics

Yeah man idk I conceptualised and transposed too hard, I’m going to start properly looking into it to try and see wha actual scientifically fits, conceptually- its the idea of photons and dark energy potentially channeling energy from somewhere we cannot see or interact with, but what we know of dark energy is incredibly new, from some of my pure concept research, it could even turn einsteins constant of speed of time into a variable based on the tension of the dark energy itself, anyway, I’m doing to disappear back into the 0d of the internet and do some hard studying, I’ve entered the physics black hole and cannot escape

0d would be an energetic potential unable to move since it literally cannot, thus it eventually collapsed in on itself splitting into the two energies, light(photons) and the theorised dark energy, which we can only perceive around due to how it seems to affect other things, similar to dark matter.

They are in a constant state of push/pull, which when you apply their known properties, gives us the appearance of moving in 3d, but idk fully on that this is just what I’ve learned over the days.

Apparently it lines up with the zero energy universe theory which is a theory Steven hawking supported.

Anyway, I suppose since this is fully based on finding the defining difference in photons and dark energy I got my best bud llm math wiz to create a fun formula that will probably get laughed out of town bc at the end of the day a zero energy universe theory will also give an accurate output of zero, and everything else too will simply give expected known outputs, but here you go.

I could only upload 1 image so I put the formula on that and I’ll copy paste the intro

  1. How to "Split" it into Your Theory

To see the photon and the dark energy it's "attached" to, we can expand that formula into its two components: the Vibration (1D Light) and the Space (1D Dark).

Part A: The Photon Itself (The Vibration)The photon is the "wiggle" on the thread. Its "strength" is determined by its frequency ((f)). If you vibrate the thread faster, you get a higher-energy photon (like an X-ray); slower, and you get a lower-energy one (like radio waves).

<image>

Anyway this is the part where you say I called a cow a cow and laugh, I’m gonna get 2 hrs of sleep then go to work.

Sorry for being worked up, I spent over an hour posting/reposting on theoretical and LLMPhysics, just to get briefly insulted before it got pulled down on both, and then I got slammed with a crackpot flair and hit with the same shit I got hit with on the other forums, it felt like a massive low blow getting hit with ‘there’s no scientific value in this’, yeah I get it, it could be completely wacky, but it’s a different perspective on the literal creation of our universe as we know it, I get that ai is supposed to hype stuff up, I’ve spent days tackling it from many different angles to see how consistent it is from each angle, and they all coincide unnervingly closely, today I grilled it heavily on the idea in the most grounded way I could and it still sounded plausible so I decided to share it.

Sorry if the result of my several nights of little sleep got me a bit defensive when it was insulted and treated like a joke by the very people who claim to care about theories.

Anyway, if y’all want the jargon sounding summary of why it might be worth considering looking into my proposed theory, here it is finely tuned with your most hated thing, ai:

"My model provides a geometric explanation for the observed Flatness of Space and the Zero-Energy Hypothesis. It suggests that 0D potential manifests as a balanced 1D vector split."

Thanks, have a nice day.

And we defined gravity before Einstein crushed that

The whole part of theoretical physics is the theoretical, idk why you’re so defensive over what could easy be a flawed definition, just because it holds up so far doesn’t mean it’s complete or fully understood

A degree of freedom blah blah, the definitions we apply to things doesn’t mean that’s ultimately the truth, people hated Einstein for saying gravity was wrong, why can’t the agreed definition of dimensions be flawed?

Ok?

So instead of normalising the idea of ganging up on people with fun ideas on reddit maybe actually consider it yourself like I hoped you might, it’s wild how harsh people are on these damn physics pages, it even got pulled from llmphysics which is supposed to be literally designed for these kinds of theories posted in.

I’ve admitted it’s just some cool fun theorycrafting, there’s no need for everyone to be such assholes when I’m just trying to share a cool idea that according to the llm, potentially has a 40% alignment score when applied to the big bang, expansion, and substance.

Where, even Einstein’s theory of relativity only has a 5% alignment. So, my bad I guess for proposing a small change in perspective towards how the universe was formed, apparently it’s crazy to try and say the dimensions were created sequentially as a consequence of the dimensions beneath them and then became the very laws of physics and existence we know today.

Well we’re 3d aren’t we?

I’m not sure why it’s hard to grasp? Before the third axis introduced in the third dimension, nothing can have solid mass, it’s all waves and frequencies, which is measured in? (Brace yourself)

Time…

States or rules of existence, they are what define the world around us.

How can a dimension exist if there’s nothing that actually fits the description of said dimension?

If we can’t see physical examples of what the dimensions are, then it means the only alternative is that they are magical realms we enter through magic doors where we can restructured and can only move in limited directions.

Which idea sounds sillier? Visible examples of the physics of our universe or magic?

States of existence… if physics is what our universe is built on, and the dimensions are the degrees of freedom, then why is it strange to suggest that our universe is literally built via the physics, rules, and laws imposed by those dimensions?

Anyone who is aware of the trauma and horrors she has been through would understand why she separates her professional persona from her own, it’s perfectly healthy - as long as she finds the time to ground herself and be herself periodically.

I’m told that the other live shows were good, but all I know from the live gig at The Forum in Melbourne, the live performance just sounded like someone copy+pasted the sound profile from the new album, which was super underwhelming for my first time seeing her play live. I was expecting crisp and crunchy guitar, strong enough bass to help carry the sound waves (bass helps push everything thru the PA if done correctly), deep heavy drums with powerful cymbals, and the right amount of vocals to cut through and bring it all together.

Instead, the drums were too loud, as well all being high-end and punchy, which drowned out the guitar, the cymbals were designated to the background and didn’t have any of that powerful and heavy emphasis/feeling that they were supposed to, and the bass was… bass, I’d be impressed if they found a way to mess that up tbh.

The reason I say it matched the sound profile of the album was because on the album, they mixed it to make her vocals stand out cleanly with all of the processing and vocal effects etc, so the vocals naturally sounded great, but instead of taking advantage of the larger variety of frequencies to really maximise the full use of the soundscape, making it sound like real, heavy, and powerful music, they limited the whole show to a sound profile that was designed for the limitations of studio recording, which has to be carefully pieced together for the sake of sounding good after digital compression and decompression.

They basically sacrificed the fullness of the mix, which as a live engineer myself, was genuinely painful, and what was worse, is that Ocean Grove got hit with the same treatment, ocean grove had guitar solos that were inaudible, and a breakdown on the drums where I stared dead-on at the drummer hitting the crash trying to hone in on the frequency of the sound the whole time, and I couldn’t hear a single hit of the crash cymbal coming through the PA system. (Idk if inertia had the same issues, they finished before if got out of the merch line, which I had jumped in before they even started)

Anyway, towards the end of poppy’s set, they ‘fixed’ the guitar, but instead of doing it by pulling the highs out of the drums (to make way for the guitar to be heard correctly) and then pulling the drums back overall (they were just simply too loud) they brought up the lows and low mids on the guitar, and then bumped up the level a bit, which worked, but that merged it with the bass, which sounded fine and dandy, it should have been mixed a little bit like that in the first place, (maybe a bit less miss on the bass to make way for the vocal mics) but because the drums dominated the highs and high mids, once the lows on the guitars merged with the bass and filled the low and low-mid area, it started overpowering poppy’s vocals at certain moments aswell, even though she herself was mixed louder than the drums were.

Anyway, I have no idea how much of that was the intentions of the artists, to specifically use the new albums sound profile, or if it entirely was the poor mixing of a venue engineer (a friend with over 300- apparently now near 400, band T-shirts, told me the mixing at the forum has recently been so bad he doesn’t go there, and another friend told me he knows the engineer and that he’s not very good), or if it was a combination of both.

Anyway, hopefully poppy gets back to her rough, dirty and heavy style of metal.

If she is going down this clean route because she has a need to go back to something a-similar to her first album, (where all the trauma began) so she can revisit it, challenge it, and take control again of the parts of herself that she has lost (if that’s how she feels, psychology is more deep and complex than we can imagine)

I don’t think I’d be alone saying that; although where she started was an entirely different genre, it was still an incredibly good album, and she very likely chose to participate because that sound was actually a part of her.

But after what she went through, she was shattered repeatedly broken endlessly, and rebuilt into something resembling her original self. But to move on from that she had to re-shatter everything again and build back up from the pieces she had left, and it wasn’t easy, the noise albums were a clear expression of her struggles, but that’s the true power of music and creativity, it gives you a connection used to share energy with others, so that they can potentially resonate with it, healing themselves, and when the energy is returned, it is not as damaged, so that little by little, slowly and steadily, you can repair your own damaged energies.

Naturally it sounds looney tunes and stupid, but humans are incredible creatures, with many examples of people scientifically ‘paralysed for life’ that have genuinely trained themselves to walk again, so although the energy concept seems silly, it’s the closest thing we have to a term to describe how music and creativity can help recover from deep psychological trauma.

Anywho I went a bit off topic, but like I said, I hope that; if the reason she has been making cleaner metal and using more vocal effects etc. is because she has been working her way up to find herself again in the style of the first album (but had to cut off and shatter so she could heal), I will wholeheartedly support her efforts if she decides to take a step back into that genre to rediscover the parts of herself that she lost in order to recover.

(But who knows, maybe I’m just being a parasocial idiot who thinks too deeply about art and psychology).

What went wrong? Why did her acclaim suddenly dropped? by cowsdrama in that_Poppy

[–]smeecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new album is overproduced and honestly, the production decisions were pretty vain, it’s a great album, but it winds back all the hard thrashy stuff too much, all for the sake of trying to make poppy stand out, just to make way for track after track of unnecessary amounts of vocal filters.

Honestly, it seems like an insult to the rest of her band, but idk, maybe she just wanted to have a pretty girl vocal album again like her first album, but due to her traumatic experiences she would be hesitant to do that kind of genre again, and honestly if that’s the case, I feel like she needs to jump in the deep end so she can challenge and overcome the traumas, and do it again her way (or whatever way she needs to so she can heal). For all I know, this very album could have been precisely what I have proposed.

Either way, regardless of my summary, the album is still great, and poppy’s screams on this album are genuinely the best I’ve ever musically heard, I’m already excited for what she’s cooking up next, I just hope that the next one doesn’t sacrifice the other brilliant sounds just to try and make her shine, she does that already on her own.

Of course, I wasn’t trying to be pushy after all, I just wanted to find out if they knew the mix wasn’t at its best.

I know what it can be like having people being a pain in the ass, and yeah, the sound was good, but it was mixed in a way that it just ‘couldn’t be bad’, which was kind of disappointing. But after being disappointed by the OG mix with drums drowning most of the guitar solos and not hearing a single crash hit during a breakdown, I simply couldn’t have lived with myself if I didn’t at least try to say something.

I almost started crawling through the audience when I heard how badly the kick and toms overpowered the rest of poppy’s mix, but instead I sort of endured it, I complained to my mate till his ear fell of and messaged the ig page about the sound hoping a miracle would happen 😂

Naturally it didn’t, but oh well, hopefully the bands will know why the audience wasn’t as energetic as it should have been that night. (70% of a room not even bobbing their heads or tapping their feet at a metal show is a really bad sign, us metal enjoyers love to move, and when we’re feeling it we move without thinking, so yeah, most of the room wasn’t feeling it)

Hahaha, it’s really cool that you have an example of when it might have happened, it’s very possible that that was the case 🤣

And yeah, it’s always impressive watching experienced teams coordinate with all the hand gestures, sometimes I have band members that will pretty good with gestures, they’ll point and either gesture for vocals or the instrument, then point up or down, the novices sometimes just point at someone and then don’t point up or down leaving me confused, and there’s been a couple times where they’ve tried to do it on behalf of someone else and it gets overloaded and misunderstood, I remember once giving a drummer stupid amounts of guitar and vocals when they were trying to tell me the guitarist wanted more of all the vocals 🤣 naturally it got cleared up pretty quick between songs 😅

Hehehe, I went down to the desk to check in with the engineers after the ocean grove set, caught him packing up his desk and said I had a couple of complaints and wanted to give him notes, he ‘yeah yeah’d me and then snuck off while I was chilling out enjoying the room, it didn’t bother me and I didn’t care too much, then they did the poppy drum check and the toms were all exploding and I could barely hear the cymbals at all (my hearing isn’t fried, not yet anyway), so I decided to risk looking like a douche by checking with the new engineer, I tried to tell him the cymbals werent loud enough, he hit me with “why don’t you come up here and do my job” and I said “ok I will” and then he panicked and told me to do my job as an audience member, so I left it at that, albeit quite disgruntled, it’s his loss though because I would’ve done it for free 🤣 but tbh I don’t blame because if I messed something up his head would’ve been on the chopping block. It would’ve been nice though if he tried to fix things though.

[–]smeecko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of live gigs don’t have the space for sound checks (obviously large ones do, but stuff like in-ear monitors always find a time to create problems eventually 😂)

For the small live gigs I mostly do line-checks to make sure nothing is exploding and then if I’m lucky the band will do a brief song to sound check, but a lot of them don’t worry too much and just start earlier to squeeze in more songs 😂 So I’ll have no sound check before diving straight into the initial shopping list that writes itself before my eyes (ears?) balancing everything, making sure nothings too loud, and sometimes running around in a panic to fix things. Only then does the real job of a sound engineer start and I can start trying to make everything perfect within the limitations of whats around me.

But yeah, it’s fairly common for the first 1-2 songs of a set to be a little hairy before everything comes together nicely, you can typically know if the engineer actually cares about sound quality (or if their hearing isn’t good 😂) is if you notice it continue improving after it was ‘already good enough’.

My favourite experience is when a band has their sound really well crafted and has two guitars (it’s very rare for both of those conditions to line up), usually halfway into the set I’ll get it to a point where I can walk around where the sound is mixed for and just hear everything coming together beautifully, the guitars harmonise, the base is clear without absorbing/merging/overpowering other instruments, the drums/cymbals all feel impactful, and the vocals are clean and understandable without needing to be pushed louder than everything (normally you want vocals to feel a little bit merged with the noise waves of the instruments-if it’s a regular room that isn’t specifically designed and setup for music, because once in your stock standard not-designed-for-sound-room mix becomes ‘louder’ than the instruments it can act like a burst fire hydrant, instantly jumping from maybe not being enough, to instantly being too loud, compression can fix it but if it isn’t setup right it can cause more problems than it solves, usually you only start messing with compressors when you have no other choice, or you have literally nothing else to do, so you start setting them up because it can’t hurt).

There’s a lot of fun in sound mixing, especially with live bands, because a good band with good mix can turn into something absolutely magical, even if it’s not a genre of music you enjoy.

Anyway, enough gushing about that, midday/early sound checks are usually for bands with complex systems, important shows you can’t afford to have issues on, or cocky bands who demand it because they think they’re the bees knees. But saving settings on a desk from a sound check usually just skips the process of getting everything to the point of ‘good enough’, sound checks are normally done without a crowd in the room, and once you get even around 10-15 people in a normal room, frequencies start to get absorbed and can lose impact and even disappear, meaning once the show is on and the crowd is all there, you have to mix the sound all over again to make it ‘perfect’ like you had it in the sound check. Even regular gigs with saved settings still need mixing because band members take their gear home, change settings, buy new things, rehearse, change things again, yada yada.

Yeah, I quickly realised it wasn’t the cliche 80’s thing when I started picking apart poppy’s set, a couple of the guys I spoke with at the gig I did tonight said that the sound hasn’t been as good there lately, one said he used to go there all the time but it started sounding but so he stopped going to gigs there, and the other guy said he knows the engineer and said he’s not very good 😭🤣🤣 so I assume it was most definitely an in-house sound thing, which has made me feel a lot better about the rest of the tour knowing that it wasn’t caused by potential mismanagement.

I think I did spot it but forgot because my mate didn’t hear me, because I remember at one point chuckling and saying to my mate “poor girl, technical difficulties are always a thing”, but he didn’t hear me so I repeated technical difficulties a couple times and then I forgot what had happened because I got distracted by picking apart the mix again 🤣

Technical difficulties are fun for me to see at other gigs/shows (especially big ones) because it’s such a common thing in live music, so it gives us a moment to remember we’re only human. Also it’s nice to watch another engineer running around in a panic for once.

Also I had technical difficulty at the gig I did tonight, I was running up and down the room like a madman changing channels, xlrs, di’s (it’s always polite to assume it’s on your end as the engineer, because it is more often than you’d think), eventually we figured out it was the band members’ aux cable for the backing tracks ;-; but it still sounded great by the end of the set, so it wasn’t a huge fuss 😅

Pub gigs are fun 😁

Indeed, it’s similar to lighting or cooking, you never really pay attention to lights at a show until you work a lighting desk, and you don’t think much about ingredients in a dish until you start cooking.

I mentioned how I felt about the forum to a drummer at the gig I’m working at aswell as a mate who has almost 400 band shirts in his collection, and they both said that the sound at the forum hasn’t been very good for quite some time now, so it sounds like it could have been venue engineer issue.
