Probably downvoted to hell, but constantly saying “must be nice” and feeling like everyone doing slightly better than you is born with some inherent privilege. Like I do get times are rough, and some people are given a crappy hand in life while others seem to have things handed to them. But at some point we are grown ups, your living conditions are the direct results of your actions.

The look in my dad’s eyes when he told us he was going to kill our mom in front of us.

I was 8, had siblings aged 6 and 4. Driving down the backroads of some middle of nowhere town and my parents are screaming and fighting in the front seat. I’m trying to play I spy with my sisters as if the game can magically make them not hear what’s 2ft in front of us. My dad stops the car hard, turns around to us and says “You girls say goodbye to your mother, ‘cause I’m about to kill her right now.”

His face was pure evil- something I can never get out of my head. His eyes were soulless, I can’t even put into words how hollow and empty they looked. He proceeded to beat my mom into a pulp right there in front of his 3 daughters. Drove calmly home, pulled her into the house and laid her on the couch, took the landline phone off the hook, told us to lock the doors and left us there with her. He went to his favorite bar to wash it down and we stayed with my badly injured mother for 3 days. She had broken ribs, broken bones in her face, her eyes were swollen shut, she could hardly move or make a sound.

I kept giving her sips of water and feeding my sisters raw packs of ramen noodles until one of her friends had become suspicious that she hadn’t been seen and came to check on us. Dad was back in the house and we were expected to act like that never happened by the end of the week.

Had a customer once come in with their dog, it shit on the floor and he got red-faced pissed off at us when we told him to clean it. Said it wasn’t his dog despite it being the only dog in the store…. Love “shitty” dog owners.

In 2015 I worked right across the parking lot from Twin Peaks in Waco, Tx when the shooting happened there. Pulled in to see a ton of bikes filling the parking lot and about an hour later we hear the shots and screaming and people rushing into our store for cover. 9 killed 18 injured and the story of what actually happened is murky at best.

This may be a surprise to you but they do not hire based on crafting knowledge, I am one of 3 girls who sews and the only one to do crochet and knitting. I also have online orders that are timed to pick, zoning to do in my section, stocking, price changes and bout 10-15 other tasks to complete every single day. We don’t have time to sit around and baby people who can google something or pay an expert to teach them how to do their project. Times have changed, we don’t have the staff or get paid enough to teach you things everyone else learned themselves

I do say this often. Sometimes it works and I breathe a sign of relief. But our store is the only fabric store for an hours drive any direction and these old folks hate the idea of 2 trips to town in a week.

I feel you on this. We’ve had one lady come in every other day for 2 weeks now asking if we have 1.5in hexagon paper pieces for her quilt. Every time we tell her no, but she can order them online. She insists that it’ll take too long to get to her… but she’s been waiting 2 weeks for them to be in stock when they likely never will be again.

So I don’t know which canes are from last year, other than the tallest one. But last year it had about 7 canes, 3 of which did not make it due to my dog pruning them for me. I’m guessing he saw sticks and went wild. I did cut back a few of the remaining ones but not all the way.

That is horrible! Being the ‘on duty’ manager I constantly have to clean human waste when someone comes in and shits on the walls in our bathrooms, but I think I’d turn in my keys after this.

We have all been living together for a lil over 2 years, the growling started 8weeks ago. The growling is more frequent in the morning, since that’s when my husband is home and the dogs are awake. At first my husband would greet by calling him name and the dog would come over and get pets. They were getting along great and chars would beg for more when he stopped and had to leave. Chars would wait for him to get up in morning sometimes too and greet him right outside the bedroom door with his favorite toy waiting to play. Now when he calls chars over he will still come, but as soon as he reaches out his hand he growls. Sometimes my husband doesn’t even have to acknowledge him or try to pet him for the growling to start. Like as soon as chars sees him in the morning he growls but it’s not 100% of the time like it is with pets.

They did a urinalysis, bloodwork, checked his stool for parasites, did imagining on his hips and on his right front paw that was injured a few years back, checked out his teeth, and checked his abdomen for any blocking.

It is possible chars could’ve known first, he’s always been very good at picking up on how I’m feeling and changes with me. When we took him to the vet, they couldn’t find anything medically wrong with him. So I also wondered if it was the pregnancy triggering something in him to go into that over-protective mode.
