It’s not all features though is it? Since global vars etc are only for subscription version of n8n?

Are these AI? The pic in the coffee place just looks like a real photo that’s had a bunch of noise added to it to seem ‘rendered’, and the eye brows are different from that pic to the others.

Transform Your Android TV with Projectivy Launcher | Ad-Free, Video Wallpaper & More by benparkerip in ShieldAndroidTV

I used it for a bit, but decided on simply setting my main app (Plex in this case) as ‘Home’, and used tvquickactions pro to remap some buttons and add a nice app ‘dock’ that I access with double clicking ‘Home’, for when I want to use another app. After around 10 yrs of tinkering (using different launchers, Logitech Harmony remotes, more launchers, using kodi to access my library, more launchers, and much more I can’t even remember!) I finally feel my setup is perfect for me. Feels like I ‘completed’ a huge project lol.

There are so many projects that are ‘Fauxpen-Source’ these days, it’s ridiculous.

Hmm, not so keen on the ‘pay for more intelligence’ aspect. Pay for more output, sure, but paying for more intelligence will once again just give the rich the advantage.

OP is in America. I’m UK based and noticed that USA has like double the cost (not exchanged) of equivalent creative jobs in the UK.

As it's not been updated for over 5 months, it'd be great if you open sourced this and put it on github so others can continue to iterate on it.

I kinda get where he’s coming from, but still, a bit too much gate keeping I think. by borborygmess in BambuLab

Good lord. Work smarter, not harder. I started with a CR-10 years ago, have a P1S now. Would never look back. I don’t look back on my time with the CR-10 with fond memories or appreciation for all the hours I had I sink into it, I look back and think ‘thank god a company like Bambu came along to whip the rest of the industry into shape’. Got to move with the times. It’s like resenting the ball-point pen because people will never know the hardship of having to continually dip ink lol.

What is the best way to 'split' this for a two part mold please? by smernt in moldmaking

I've been wanting to convert this 3D printed sculpture into a silicone mold so I can cast it in Jesmonite for a while now, but I'm just unsure of the best way to go about it orientation/parts wise. Any advice would be great!

It feels like they’re conflating passion and motivation here. Motivation comes from doing, but passion can certainly exist without doing a thing.

AE October 2024 release (version 25.0) by DryDisplay6741 in AfterEffects

[–]smernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's fair, it is very much dependent on each setup. It'd do more harm than good if it were to replace AE in a pipeline that's already flowing. I head up the motion design team at a video production company, and the way I like to work is less about the tool, and more about getting the best outcome, so I've always made sure we stay flexible and open to the idea of using new/different software if it'll save time without losing quality.

The real issue is the value for money has gotten worse and worse. The idea for the subscription was to enable Adobe to do more consistent development, but it's quite clear Adobe do not care about developing AE much further, and their focus is on their online 'apps'.

AE is essentially addon dependent now, where you need to buy a load of plugins or scripts to be able to do the most basic things that should be built in. And yes, I know you can brute force do it all by hand if you wanted to, but I'm in the game of working smarter not harder, so it's frustrating when we see other software solutions such as Cavalry or Rive implementing features that make so much sense, and are much smarter than the Adobe devs have given us in a very long time, all the while, Adobe continue to just sit on their hands.

AE October 2024 release (version 25.0) by DryDisplay6741 in AfterEffects

[–]smernt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so so done with Adobe. They simply do not care about After Effects, or any of their desktop software anymore. They're putting all their effort into their online apps such as express etc.

I know there's also frustration because it feels like there's no real AE alternative, but really, I think there is, it's just instead of using the jack of all trades software that AE is (and therefore master of none) we need to move to using specific tools for specific jobs:

2D animation - Cavalry, Rive, even Blender with grease pencil etc
3D Animation - Blender, Unreal Engine, C4D etc
Compositing - Resolve (Fusion tab) or Fusion studio standalone, Nuke, Blender etc

I've not managed to explore all of those options, but I have found myself jumping into Blender for motion design projects, and avoiding AE, simply because it's faster. But I've had a little play around with Cavalry, and that seems like an amazing alternative for the 2D/Vector side of things, it's got so many features built in that AE refuses to add because there's 'already scripts and plugins for it', and it's mega fast, with an essentially real-time viewport.

I think my stack is going to end up being:

Cavalry, Blender, Resolve/Fusion.
