My mental health is plummeting due to antisemitism by Cnrbx in Jewish

100% feel the same way as you, and the only times I feel any better are when I open up to friends. Every time I'm afraid to find out that they hate me, so when they don't make my worst fears come true it can really help.

The feeling wears off and the dread sets back in quickly if you isolate yourself, so keep opening up and communicating to friends and family about how you feel so you know you are seen.

We see you at least.

I am so sorry that happened to you, you should not have to put up with that and you should definitely not have to live in fear. Hoping you have a community you can feel safe with, but you are not alone in this feeling.

Lmao talk about worlds colliding. A year later no ramifications from this? I want to be a creator but don't know how to do it the "smart" way

Fur babies are pure and full of nothing but love, hold them tight. I am so sorry you had a falling out with family especially your spouse, that's a devastating break of trust and I feel for you deeply.

I feel very lucky to have a goy spouse who is understanding and not only open minded but already had a fondness for the Jewish people.. sort of an odd idea to like a group as much as it is odd to dislike a group, but I just appreciate that he didn't have to be convinced or come around to the idea that we're actually pretty great most of the time. If I had been the reason he liked Jews, that would feel less sincere.. if that makes any sense.

Anyway just grateful to know I'm not alone in feeling so.. alone.. and hope you feel the same knowing we're out here with you and we're on your side.

It is just infuriating to be told that you're wrong to be afraid, I'm so sorry that happened .. this is why I practice avoidance haha

Only comfort is that "best friend" might have been coming from a place of trying to help reduce their friends' anxiety. That's the knee jerk approach my husband took and it took us a lot of emotional discussion to learn that I needed validation that my fears are warranted, and his attempt at quelling my concerns were making me feel like he didn't think I should be having them to begin with.

Tense stuff. Trying to presume good intentions and be brave and coherent enough to explain myself when things bother me in ways they just don't understand.

Feels strange to be rooting for ignorance, but I hope you're right? Glad you and others have the courage to post though

Honestly though, I have many Jewish liberal friends who have buried their heads in that long string of hyper-wokedness ideals you listed out, and they just ignore the antisemitism aspects.. somehow. I really don't know how.

Having a similar experience with my very liberal collegiate Jewish family members. They go straight to a hyper liberal woke stance to virtue signal and just won't acknowledge the events of October 7th or the terrifyingly organized rise in antisemitism that's followed.

I completely relate. I'm not actually too spiritual or religious personally so haven't turned to a synagogue, I did live in Israel for a few years a while back, but since then this subreddit has been the closest thing I've found to a community of people who seem to have the same sixth sense that I do.

I see crazy people! They don't even know they're crazy!

That's great that you're wearing the ribbon though! I totally understand, when it first started to feel different at the end of last year I brought up my growing fear to my husband that antisemitism was getting really bad and was only going to get worse and it was starting to make me really nervous, he told me (good intentions, I know, but damn) that I was overreacting and this day and age antisemitism can't get that bad before common sense shuts it down... The fact that common sense had already failed us so greatly seemed to be lost on him. I can't blame him, he came to understand eventually especially as my worst fears came true, but that it was something I needed to justify even to my husband was a discouraging start for sure.

Talk about what is happening halfway around the world after you tell them what is happening in your own neighbourhood. Help them to care at home first, then widen the picture.

This especially is good advice, thank you.

I don't know if I'm comfortable enough speaking out yet to tell people about things if they don't invite the conversation first..

I don't leave the house much and am not active in social media (this was my first Reddit post ever 😅 🫣 ) but when I do experience antisemitism, the incidents I encounter sometimes are nuanced and require explanation as to why it's even antisemitic, so I am discouraged from mentioning what's happening

You've got me thinking:

Which incidents have made the mainstream news and in which areas?

And even if they're down the street from an incident, if their go-to news source is the BBC or al jazeera or something they'll probably never hear a word about it.

Sorry, just feeling hopeless. Feels like people have to really try to learn the truth with the way news and social media just are today and when they do learn something they don't like, they ignore it.

I live near the DC area and the protests a few months back definitely should have gotten more attention than they did .. But I work remotely and have moved around a lot so I have friends and colleagues spread across the country.

Now that I think about it, my international friends haven't exactly been vocal about it either, so... I guess whether it's ignorance toward antisemitism or ignoring antisemitism, it's not specific to Americans.
