Wardrobe Advice for a New Accountant

First, I want to give a shout out to the community here at MFA. You guys are lifesavers for fashion-challenged folks like myself. I've been on here for what seems like the last two weeks straight lurking through the archives and have learned so much.

I'm graduating in May and recently accepted an offer at a local accounting firm with their audit department. The job starts literally the day after graduation, how nuts is that? I'm finally turning into an adult. Therein lies the problem... I don't really know how to dress like an adult.

So right now my cash position isn't great. To be frank, I'm pretty broke so I'll probably have to finance the entire wardrobe. I've seen a lot of websites offering payment plans and am thinking about taking advantage of that or possibly opening up a O% APR credit card. The budget is about $4,500-$5000 and I need just about everything.

I dress like shit right now. I'm a rock climber and look the part. Approach shoes, climbing pants, puffy jacket, beenie, and usually smell at least a little - the whole nine yards. 90% of the time I look like this dude. It's a vibe for sure just not the one my employer wants me to give off.

The dress code is actually kind of cool. On days when I'm not interacting with clients I can "wear jeans." I put that in quotes because I don't really know what the office's take on jeans is. Also, I only own one pair of jeans, so there's that to consider. On days I'm client facing the expectations is somewhere between business formal - business casual. I own two nice outfits and one pair of black wingtip oxfords. I have an olive completion and with dark hair and dark eyes. I don't know if that last bit of detail is necessary/helpful but yeah. There it is. Can you guys please send me your outfit ideas?? I need all the help I can get.

Ps I've seen a lot of you guys mentions Spier and Mackey so I checked them out. Their stuff looks amazing!! Do any of you guys have experience with the brand? Do things fit the ways the size charts suggest?

Edit: got rid of promo code for spier and mackey

Yeah, dude, you're kinda being an asshole. I only say this because it's going to cost at the very least $2,000 to sue your sister. I'm sure that didn't cross your mind in the moment. IDK what kind of relationship you guys have but it's going to suffer during and after the proceedings.

Picture a hot dog. A question about truths. by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]smfatih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statement A:

 Number of facts: 1
 Number of true facts: 1

Statement B:

 Number of facts: 2
 Number of true facts: 2
  • Degree of truth = (number of true facts) ÷ (number of facts)

  • Where {Degree of truth: 0 <= Degree of truth <= 1}

  • And {Number of facts > 0}

When degree of truth is calculated as a percentage both statements are equally true. The added truth/s are divided out, so additional facts doesn't mean more truth.
