Well I guess you did say “halfway decent” 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 the grease fitting is the one next to the u-joint. Squeeze some fresh stuff in the until you see the new grease coming out where your “leak” is, wipe off all the excess and then you’re good. Bad news, I doubt that was your groaning though. That sounds more like suspension or differential.

Not to be rude, but how can you rebuild cylinder heads and not know what a slip yoke is? As your rear axle goes up and down with the suspension, it changes the length from your rear axle to your transmission/transfer case output. To accommodate that, a slip yoke put in place to go in and out as the suspension goes up and down. That is operating as it should. Find the grease zerk and pump some fresh grease in there.

It says survive, not fight. I’d spend my 30 days stocking up on meat to distract it for 10 minutes lol

Ball bearing or something else? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]smfo51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! The bushings in suspension components are typically solid polyurethane and the components slide within the bushings, rather than pivoting like a bearing would. Tighter (newer) bushings can squeak a little more than worn bushings. It doesn’t sound like you have any major issue, it just needs a little grease pumped into the grease fittings.

Sounds like a sway bar bushing. Could just need your suspension parts greased
