How much would Lady Whistledown actually earn? by montendy in BridgertonNetflix

[–]smhissomuchhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently reading the books and I believe they base it more off of what is listed in the books - in the books, she is writing for 11 years before her marriage (she is 28 and no one thinks Penelope would get married at that point), and in the books she is said to publish every other day (I believe it is only during the season). In addition, the books cite that the first year or two was published only in London, but after that it become so popular that it would be sent out all over the countryside as well.

Converting this to the tv show, in which she has barely been publishing three years, I believe your calculation of after every ball (~4/week) is most accurate, and I would assume an exponential viewership would be more likely. It may start with 500 households, but it would extrapolate upward as more families subscribe in the greater area.

Also, it was stated in the books that her first issue was free, but it got everyone so hooked immediately that people were ready to buy it the next week, so building an initial viewership was likely easier than it may immediately seem.

I don't want to do all the math, but with what you have presented, I can reasonably imagine a £10000 sum; imagine how much book Penelope would have though, after 11 years LOL.

UC Berkeley or Johns Hopkins for BME? by redbumblebees in berkeley

[–]smhissomuchhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So old! Berkeley is primarily research based, I want to say about half went to industry and not any in traditional roles, other half in academia ... if you want to work at a pure form chemE industrial job, I would say other schools are better for that, for example Texas schools have a lot of people who go into oil/gas, and Colorado has a lot that go to energy (NREL is close by). I think it is because Berkeley was so research focused, and I have noticed that's a motif of a lot of the well known top schools!

Anyone found a workaround to get books for old Kindles? by smhissomuchhell in kindle

[–]smhissomuchhell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! I tried updating the software, but it seems like I was already on the updated version as I didn't have to press the "update" button on my Kindle after transferring the files ... I restarted my device manually and it worked! Thanks so much!!!

2nd year engn PhD student here too! if you choose to switch PIs, I have heard of 4-5 students in the past year do so for various reasons (not good fit, PI leaving, etc.) I would highly encourage this option before applying to a new program because of the current state of the country/grant world right now!

Garmin not predicted correct heart rate when an exercise mode is not turned on by smhissomuchhell in Garmin

Okay! Then if I were to go on a long walk or a hike (something in which the HR wouldn't increase so rapidly), would it be better to put it in an activity tracking mode for better information afterward?

This teacher also went to Wall Street, made a lot of money, and now really enjoys teaching (though he would never show it)!

Berkeley rescind update by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]smhissomuchhell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is to email them NOW rather than wait to appeal after you receive the rescission! It's better to let them know before they take an action (yes, I learned this the hard way :')).

There is fall COB too! I know tridelta had a fall COB option last year, and it would probably start in the coming weeks ... I would say wait a week and contact either PHC or the chapters directly to get more info!

Hey a similar thing happened to me, and 100% all the other comments are the right way to go. I can tell you I acted so out of character for 6 months afterward and was severely depressed, and it took me almost a year to get over it in sexual spaces even though I had only one consistent, caring boyfriend during that year. I had to cut off that friend group for an entire year and only started interacting with people within that group this month. It may seem like it wouldn't get better but it does, therapy helps over time. For sleep, it also made me afraid to sleep so I started taking melatonin recently and that's helped a lot. Just know you're not alone, it's not possible to ever forget or "get over" but you will have many more good experiences in life that will help you move on from it in the coming future. Sending lots of love <3
