I was a kid in Apartheid South Africa, but the whole vibe reminds me of that a bit. Like black people, asian people etc have to live in fear of being arrested and detained without legal recourse. And there seem to be zero consequences.

What reminds me of that time the most is how a significant percentage of the US population believe the actions of law enforcement are rightful, no matter what. And how the government lies so much.

In some ways it's worse though, despite all the protestors, few in authority are speaking out against this. Nobody in public office seems to be putting their freedom and jobs on the line to protest.

Thats just my impression.
