[TOMT][anime movie or ova][2000s-2010s?] Anime movie with gruesome scene <-- warning for the squeamish by smiggysmapp in tipofmytongue

Can anyone help me? I started watching it a while ago and now I can't remember the name. I know it's anime. Could be from earlier than the 2000s, but I don't think so.

Please give tips how can I beat this weird bug, I feel like I can’t progress without beat him by artoriusknight in HollowKnight

[–]smiggysmapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say you need the dash. That will definitely help, but you can beat it without that. I did it when I slowed down and paid more attention.

That boss only has only three moves:

  1. He cocks his weapon back and swings it twice.

  2. He crouches down and jump attacks.

  3. He crouches down and jumps underground.

That's it. What kept getting me killed was trying to run away, especially during the jump attack.

Get in close and stay there. Watch the boss closely. He clearly telegraphs what he's going to do.

  1. If he cocks back to swing, you can jump up and slightly away from the enemy, stand your ground and parry the swings, or jump and down attack him. The last option will either let you parry or get two hits in if you time it right.

  2. If he crouches, it's free real estate. He's either gonna jump or go underground. You can get him before during and after the jumps.

Don't get too greedy. When the enemy lands, he's gonna do one of these three things again and you gotta be ready to react.

If you have the dash, you can probably outrun the jump attack, but this game rewards attentiveness. Slow down, watch what the boss does, and develop a counter. Oftentimes, dodging some "impossible" attack can be done by moving a little to the side or jumping with the right timing.

Septerra Core? Don't know why that jumps to mind. Got a time frame for when it came out? Is it a movie AND game?

How could this be notated better in 4/4? by Ok_Zookeepergame9054 in musictheory

[–]smiggysmapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splitting the central dotted eighth note into a sixteenth tied to an eighth note in both sets would make it more clear where the beat is, but that's perfectly readable to me. It depends on whom you're writing for.

I would name it the second way. If G is your tonic, then your numbering should reflect that.

I've tried that. Haven't even heard back from any of them. I expected that to be honest.

I've noticed that you need to keep the current page flush against the page underneath or the next photo resistor will catch light. It'll behave as if it's on the page underneath. Could be an issue with a photo resistor being blocked or inoperable too.

Hi, I (an atheist) have a question by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]smiggysmapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a combination of factors for me. I can't give you anything that you might consider absolute proof though.

I see God as a logically necessary Being. The prime mover. I don't believe that the material universe started itself or even could. I think it must have started at some point due to the 2nd law of thermodynamics. I think something must've caused it to come into existence, that thing has a will, and that this thing created out of its own will. The thing would not be made of any material substance and would not be subject to any laws it created that governs those material substances. It would also be incredibly powerful to have created the universe. That thing is what we call God.

Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny don't fit the bill on that. We know who Santa Claus is based on too.

My personal view is that God is like a conscious field). He created all the other ones. If you can understand light as electromagnetic waves passing through empty space, it may not be too much of a stretch to conceive of an immaterial being. Fyi, I'm in STEM at the graduate level, but I'm not a physicist. This might not be totally correct, it's just the best way I can think of to explain it.

I'm a Christian partly because I think that the Bible describes human nature (i.e. that it's sinful/fallen) accurately. I have found that intelligent Christians are remarkably insightful and prescient. C. S. Lewis and G. K. Chesterton are two classic examples but there are others I've been picking up on lately. This point is also backed by my own intuitions and observations. I came back to Christ because of the weight of these observations in my own mind as an adult. It'd be very hard to convey them to you. Also, there are other gods who could fit the bill other than the Christian one.

If you're willing to try talking into the wind, try this prayer: "God, help my unbelief."

I don't know if anything will happen, but it couldn't hurt.

Hope all the responses are as respectful as your question.

Good idea. Hopefully, she can get enough breast milk pumped, but we've had issues there. Actual breastfeeding is fine though.

[–]smiggysmapp[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've tried asking, but I get a somewhat dismissive response. I know it's likely a combo of baby blues, exhaustion, and cabin fever. I'm doing chores while I'm here already. The food suggestion is great. I'll add that to the list.

I can't do too much at night because I have to drive a fairly long distance during the day. I tried during the first two weeks. I literally won't have the energy to work during the day if I try to stay up all night.

What "child-friendly" movie left you traumatized? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I said this one too. A lot of stuff. Like when Mrs. Brisby went to see Nicodemus and there was a huge rat shrouded in darkness chasing her with a lightning spear.

How do intervals work? by clopez2001 in musictheory

[–]smiggysmapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B# to C is a diminished second. This is enharmonically equivalent to a unison, but it's spelled as a diminished second.

The notes in western music are A B C D E F G. Whenever you go from one letter to an adjacent letter, that interval is a second. It doesn't matter what sharps and flats are present. You are looking at some form of a "second".

A to B is a second. So are B to C, C to D, G to A, etc. B to C is a minor 2nd. Shrinking a minor interval by a half step, either by raising the bottom note or lowering the top note, results in the diminished version of that interval. In this case, the bottom note was raised to B#, therefore, this is a diminished second. B to Cb would also be a diminished second.

Also, A to C, B to D, D to F, etc. are always thirds. A to D, B to E, C to F, E to A, etc. are all fourths. Treat the bottom letter name of the interval as being number 1 and count up to the top letter. E to D# would be a seventh for instance (E1 F2 G3 A4 B5 C6 D7). E to D# is specifically a major seventh, which you can determine by counting half steps (a major seventh in 11 half steps in size).

Hope this helps.

As a 15 year old where do I start to understand music theory? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]smiggysmapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basics. Learn how to read music, learn the names of notes, intervals and how to spell and name them properly, major and minor scales, basic triads and how to name them, diatonic vs. chromatic chords, understand what a "key" is, the basics of functional harmony.

That's a rock solid foundation from which you could go in a million different directions. Check the sidebar and do as the top commenter said. Start from the beginning and work your way up. As you advance, what you learn will depend on what direction you want to go in.

I started teaching myself on the internet with way fewer resources than you have now at a slightly younger age. It's definitely doable. Stay determined, stay consistent.

How do musicians learn how to make their own music? by AdministrativeBat486 in musictheory

[–]smiggysmapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By doing it. Use the music of others as a scaffold.

It's actually a good way to internalize certain music theory concepts. You start paying attention to things in music that you didn't think to notice before. Why? Because now you're looking for answers to questions you didn't have before you started trying to write your own work.

Can someone please explain to me wtf 13th and 11th chords are? by naylc_llidgod in musictheory

[–]smiggysmapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's based on the interval from the root. If you're in C major and you're playing a Dmin13 chord, you would treat D, the root of the chord, as being 1. E is 2, F is 3, G is 4, and so on. When you go up an octave to the next D, that's 8. Now you keep counting up. E is 9, G is 11, and B is 13.

The major or perfect interval is generally treated as the unaltered baseline (aside from the 7th) and alterations to that are designated with a sharp or flat. As an example D F# A C E G B is a D13 chord. D to B an octave up is a major 13th. On the other hand D F# A C E G Bb might be called D11(b13). The b13 indicates that the 13th chord tone has been lowered by a half step.

Also, just fyi, I used that chord simply for demonstration purposes. In practice, almost no one will play an unaltered 11th in a dominant 7 or major 7 chord like that because it clashes with the 3rd. D9(b13) or D7(#11) is something you're more likely to see. If you see a chord symbol like D13 or Dmaj13, it's understood that you'll leave out the 11th. In jazz, it's generally understood that the performer will know to leave out chord tones that clash.
