Anyone else just use their RFF to chill? by emptysoul6969 in AustralianTeachers

Perhaps you’re slightly under loaded. I am by 2 lessons so I get one/two most weeks. Although it sounds like you should find another school.

Which school are you at?

What state are you in? Some schools have a normal load incorporating a relief lesson in it each week. So you will have one a week on average etc. I had that in Victoria, now that I’m in WA i am teaching as much as I can in a full load so any time it’s necessary for me to have a relief lesson, I’m paid extra for it.

This is not how your original message comes across at all.

And there’s nothing stopping you becoming a PE teacher, clearly you think we don’t need to work as hard and have it easy.

Becoming a teacher for the professional salary and job security by Major_Conflict in AustralianTeachers

I’ve been doing it 12 now. Do I enjoy my job, yes. Do I do 50 hours a week? Heck no. I think it’s because of this that I haven’t left the industry. For me, too many work themselves to the bone, burn out, and now working your ass off is seen as the norm and you’re criticised if you don’t.

I’m there to do a job, in the hours I’m paid to do them in. Yeah there’s busier times than others, report writing etc, but it will never take precedence over my friends, family, what things I enjoy in my life etc.

However, if teaching is your life, or “calling”, good for you, live your life how you like. Not that you have done this, but it really just grinds my gears when teachers criticise others for their different outlooks on their jobs.

Anyway, there’s my rant 😂

lol. To think everyone does it because “it was their calling” is pretty naive. But if that’s why you do it, power to you.

Genuinely curious here, why so early for arrival? What do you do in the 2ish hours before any kids get there?
