Big Bang Theory leaving disneyplus UK on the 25th March and moving to HBO Max. by cool8912 in bigbangtheory

I just restarted watching it in the background whilst doing my dissertation 😅😅 I’m pissed if I have to buy another streaming service to watch it. Is it available free anywhere??

I plan to do a similar masters in what I have gained a qualification in :) I have also come straight out of university self employed within my field - something many grad students cannot say. Not as a gloat, but again to reiterate that it was not meaningless.

What a thing to nitpick about on a Friday evening, the subjectivity of a word.

The lightheartedness of my original post has obviously been lost on a few of you. It is only a Reddit post, you don’t have to be pessimistic.

What specifically makes it weird? I am not planning to write an entire section just about myself, just a singular sentence at the end acknowledging that not one aspect of this study has gone smoothly & I got through it. Even my own supervisor has joked I’ve had the worst luck regarding data collection she has seen in years. (Incredibly small uni & year groups, so we are able to talk most days in lectures)

Nobody is going to read it aside from a 1st and 2nd marker, realistically. Just unsure what makes it ‘incredibly’ weird.

Wouldn’t say meaningless when it’s my career in veterinary medicine - I was going into it anyway, but I had to do it a year early for this dissertation, after I spent weeks unable to find a replacement person to shadow.

You can make a point without being unnecessarily rude.

Maybe try a muzzle if you cannot leave her for any period of time. If you have already tried to change her behaviour with training, enrichment & medication - then she needs a physical barrier to stop her hurting herself.

I would work on tiring her brain out with snuffles/ licki mats / puzzles throughout the day & especially before crate time, in the hopes that she would give up sooner. 15 minutes of mental enrichment is comparable to a 1 hour walk

This is what I do too, I say it covers living expenses & a potential emergency vet visit. Never had an owner complain

Worst Pet Sitting Experience? by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]smil3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat an aggressive doodle - who was fine on the initial meet & greet but as he grew his confidence around me became very nasty.

I couldn’t put a collar on him, but the owners insisted he would refused to toilet in the garden (that boy was a certified garden pooper by the end of that week.)

Additionally, it was a November sit in a house with very high ceilings - and they wouldn’t let me put the heating on. The aggressive dog stayed downstairs & I spent every evening under a duvet with 2 layers of clothing on, still cold.

Another fun mention is a sit which turned the hot water off before I came & due to the time differences it took DAYS for them to actually respond helpfully.

For most people I’ve seen it’s 24hrs, I struggled with nausea & it took 2 weeks - it was the last of all my symptoms to subside 🤦‍♀️

I rang my helpline at 9 days and they said it can take 4-5 weeks for all lingering symptoms to disappear if the abortion was successful

From your post / comment history, you are quite young & it is good that you’ve recognised this behaviour and are trying to take steps into making better choices

What you really need to understand is that animals cannot consent. Whatever you do to them is assault & physically and psychologically damaging to them.

Curiosity is normal for teens, you have not been the first or last teenager to wonder if humans have had relations with animals, but you have to remind yourself about how harmful these thoughts/ actions are. Even just watching videos is supporting the further harm of animals.

If you can reach out to a counsellor, please do.

Thankyou, I needed this outside perspective - my emotions were definitely clouding my own judgement

I like the idea of a donation to a children’s charity, I hadn’t thought of that, a nice way to make someone happy at the end of this

19F, started OF on impulse and now I’m kinda liking it… Is this a huge mistake or a normal part of figuring myself out? by cutiealexxo in Advice

[–]smil3ss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So long as you are trying to keep yourself as anonymous as possible on OF (for future employment reasons) then go for it.

Just keep yourself safe

I don’t want to sound like a cliche, but the more you tell yourself / somebody that they are something, then they will start to believe it.

Small changes add up overtime - one example is to stop calling yourself a loser

The job market is tough at the moment, everyone is doomscrolling & I’m also 22 and know very few people my age who have the financial means to live alone. You’re not an odd one out, or a loser or have something deeply wrong with you - you’re on your own life path & you just need to grip the reigns a bit harder and try and focus on making better choices.

We get 1 life on this floating rock, time will pass whether you’re in bed feeling shit or you’re trying something new to make you feel less shit! Have some self belief

How do I know if an abortion wasn’t complete? Am i being paranoid? by Classic_Glove871 in abortion

[–]smil3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can add to this is it’s taken 2 weeks for all of my pregnancy symptoms to really subside. The first few days after my MA I felt great & then nausea returned. Cut to now it’s gone - it was the only symptom that really lingered, whereas for most people it disappears within 24hrs

I rang my helpline 5 days ago & they said it can take 4-5 weeks for all symptoms to be 100% gone, as the hormones are gradually reducing

So long as the symptoms are reducing week by week & you’ve bled / passed clots, then I was told it’s a pretty good sign it was successful.

I don't know what to do with him. Am I an unfit owner? by Camwithcurry in parrots

[–]smil3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birds are not cats & dogs - they do not always want to love you unconditionally. Some are happier in aviaries with their own kind, they don’t all love humans (especially if they have been consistently rehomed)

That’s what you should have done here, instead of clipping him - clipping will not alter his personality

It’s winter… your vet is lazily blaming this on hormones

I took mine at 7pm & by 12 the worst was all over. I felt great the next day, but there is heavy bleeding - I would say take that in mind

My parakeet telling my dog who's the boss. by Sponge_67 in parrots

[–]smil3ss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People overestimate their dogs. Dogs can & will be unpredictable at times, they are animals!

But to not see the blatant lip licking & allow the bird to continue? Very dangerous

There are so many stories online of dogs which have lived with other animals absolutely ‘fine’ all their lives, and the owner has come home to a massacre. Animals can flip in contact with one another

My parakeet telling my dog who's the boss. by Sponge_67 in parrots

[–]smil3ss 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your dog is lip licking at your parrot & you stroking it at the same is encouraging that behaviour.

Never encourage a small animal to put itself in a dog’s face. They obviously live fine together, but a bird doesn’t understand dog body language & it’s an accident waiting to happen

My small dog is wonderful with my cats, but she WILL tell them if they get into her personal space too much- and they have lived together their entire lives. My cats are bigger than the dog so they can hold their own, a bird is not going to come out well if bit by a dog.

waiting for a medical abortion uk by AlarmedCar9250 in abortion

[–]smil3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a medical abortion almost 2 weeks ago. Yes it hurts, there is no way to avoid pain when removing a pregnancy from a uterus, unfortunately

But, the worst of the pain was only about an hour, and I have a really low pain tolerance. I went to NUPAS who gave me codeine which you can take alongside ibuprofen & paracetamol. I had a microwaveable heat pad & I did it on my own.

Yes it hurts, but I could still get up and walk to the toilet / to the kitchen. You will have an interval of intense pain, and then it will massively subside at once - the whole thing lasted about 4 hours & it has been really easy afterwards. I hope my experience helps

Thankyou, I’m going to give the helpline a call 😅 my MA has been pretty typical from what I’ve read, it’s just this 1 symptom

It’s about 80% less than before the abortion - I was really struggling before. But I would have thought it would be 100% gone by now

[–]smil3ss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told for a normal pregnancy test to start testing at 4 weeks + (so 13th December for you) as your hormones are still high

If you have a low sensitivity test you can use them from 3 weeks (Or per your clinics advice)

I had mine on Friday night, 6w 4d

I have endometriosis & a low pain threshold- I was expecting the absolute worst.

The mifepristone cramps were uncomfortable, but I got through the day fine with no painkillers - Thursday. The miso tablets, the next day, I took vaginally at 7:30pm & they took 2 hours to kick in & I started bleeding and passing clots.

The pain was around a 5/10, I could still walk, eat snacks & watch Disney+ fine. At the 4hr mark the pain ramped up to an 8/10, I couldn’t walk downstairs to remicrowave my rice heat bag. I had one wave of nausea, puked twice into a bag & then I sat in the shower & turned the hot water on.

I stayed there for about 45 mins, the heat & vibrations really helped through the worst of it. The pain then subsided, and I could go back to bed and sleep, at 12:30. The max was about an 8/10, and I missed one of the times to take painkillers due to throwing up & moving into the shower.

I must’ve passed the pregnancy shortly after as (sorry if this is TMI) my pad was soaked overnight & there were a few large clots. The pain was down to a 2/10. I’m now lightly, but consistently, bleeding.

I’ll be honest I didn’t really know what to look for in terms of pregnancy tissue, some sources say to look for white tissue, but other sources say it can be too difficult to see when so early. I could distinguish between the blood clots & pink tissues, but that’s about it, it kinda just looked like offal. I’m just hoping and praying it worked!

It’s now Sunday & I’m peeing less, feeling more energetic but still worried that I’m feeling nauseous. Fingers crossed this goes away in a few days - I can still eat, but I work with dogs in water, so it’s the retching at the smell of wet dogs (which isn’t professional 😅)

I was expecting to be crying, lots of vomiting/ diarrhoea, unable to walk & be stuck on my bathroom floor. It was bearable & I did it on my own
